Sun Protection

Looking forward to seeing everyone at Prize giving on Friday, 6pm start, with children to be seated by 5.50 pm. We expect everyone to attend as the students have been practising very hard to make this a memorable occasion. The prize giving will be followed by a “thank you” supper. Ngā mihi, Vikki and the team

THANK YOU

To Nicole Auger for all the weeding and planting in gardens around the school over the last week. We look forward to seeing the fruits of your labour!

We would like to note the super contribution Jim Blakeley has made to music at Owhiro Bay by leading the ukulele group, ably assisted by Dan Yeabsley. The children have had so much fun performing this year.

At this very busy time of the year for school, we appreciate the many offers of help, understanding and morning teas that staff have received - it is very much appreciated.

FAREWELL TO ROWENA

We will be saying farewell and thank you to Rowena at prize giving on Friday.

Please feel free to pop in and write a message on the slips provided at the office, to place in her special card.

LOST PROPERTY

Please check the lost property. Any un-named, unclaimed items will be donated to a local charity after the end of term.

CARPARKING

As both the kindergarten and school staff require use of the school car park before school, and often have heavy loads to carry we ask you to be mindful of this and park outside on the street

If you have to use the school carpark at any time, please park in the allocated carparks as it makes it very difficult to exit, i.e, there is only five parks in the central parking space.

Please do not park anywhere that is not a designated parking space.

STOCKTAKE IS ABOUT T O START

Please have a good look around your house for journals, readers, library books, sports shirts – all need to be returned to school by the end of this week please!

SUNSMART SUNHATS AND SUNSCREEN

A reminder, children need to wear a sunhat when outside every day. All students understand that if they do not have their hat at school, they will have to stay under the green sun shades during morning tea and lunchtime. Each classroom has a bottle of sunscreen which children can access - this is their responsibility to self-manage.

SPORTS SPO T

ROCKS Run Club Tomorrow (Thursday 12 December) will be the last Run Club session for 2019. In this inaugural year, we've had heaps of fun trialling various games, drills, relays, exploring our neighbourhood and even running in the Xterra Wellington Trail series. I have lots of ideas for 2020, which I look forward to sharing with everyone in the New Year. Have a safe and happy summer break - remember, there's adventures to be had everywhere on your own two feet Fiona

FROM THE STREAM TEAM

Kia ora koutou

We have had wonderful support on the past two Mondays with students from Harakeke and Whanake helping down stream. With their help we have weeded and mulched this year’s planting at the northern end of school. Hopefully this will keep down the pesky weeds and help the plants to survive the summer.

Next Monday 16th we are going to celebrate the stream with afternoon tea at 3pm on the grassy patch though the gate off the school field. There will be eel feeding and a walk along the stream. We welcome families to join us bring your picnic blanket and your afternoon tea.

If you are interested in helping down the stream over the summer, maybe with keeping the weeds down around an area of planting or doing some weed eating then please contact Jess at [email protected]

Meri Kirihimete from the Stream Team! We’ll l be back term 1 2020.

Dances for Schools Mark from Dance Curriculum / Dances For Schools here. We are in Wellington THIS week and I'll be running a Dance Class / Workshop for children aged 5 - 12. If any of the children that I've taught are still interested in dance, then here is an opportunity for them to come along and learn more dance steps. Please see poster below.
