LATEST NEWS… 21st June 2019 Trust - Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God,
trust also in me. John 14.1
Thank you in advance to the Friends of Crockerton School – they have a great afternoon planned with all the
children taking part in our own Celebration Festival.
We are on the very final push to completing the school build project. The outdoor space which was formerly the
Peace Garden is looking amazing and staff and children cannot wait to use this. After careful consideration and
taking advice from other establishments, we have laid tarmac which has created a whole new playground space.
Under the canopy, we will be putting a rubberised tile to provide extra flexibility in this area.
Please remember that the Celebration Festival is an opportunity to share and display so much of the children’s
work – please bring in any Power Projects that have been completed as part of KS2 homework.
This week, the weather has at last allowed us to take part in some sporting events. Edith, Max, Ruby and
Freddy played in the rearranged tennis tournament and they secured a 4th place which was amazing – Freddy
was top scorer with 104 points for the team, which was very impressive. It was a pleasure to take these children
to Westbourne Tennis Club and they improved throughout the day and persevered to the full.
We also played a football fixture this week, against Wylye valley School. We had two teams playing and both
were hard fought and entertaining to watch. Parents from both schools were supporting and it was lovely to
be a part of. The A Team narrowly lost 9-7 and the B team won 7-1. Football and friendship were the overall
winners and it was lovely to see all the football practise put into action in a classic football fixture. Thank you,
Mr Crabbe, for all your hard work and dedication to lead football practise each week. We have already planned
more activities with Wylye School in the future.
I am once again delighted that the school has been awarded the Gold Mark in the School Games. This is now 4
years in a row and demonstrates the success of our leaders, the opportunities that all children have to take part
in Sport and physical activities both in PE lessons and after school.
Finally, can I thank both Mrs Williams and Miss Wood, who have been working in our school since the end of
March. Both these PGCE students have committed fully to our school, working alongside class teachers and
leading additional clubs in their specialism, music and PE. I know the children and staff will miss them both and
we wish them well as they embark on their teaching careers.
Mrs Ilic

We are hopeful that the Y5/6 Kilve Court should go ahead – if you have not paid,

Health Matters – As a school we regularly have all sorts of things here that quickly pass between the
children, such as Headlice, Stomach bugs, worms, tics etc. If you do notice anything untoward, please
treat your children as a matter of urgency and remind them of the benefits of good hand washing and
keeping hands out of their mouths.
Many thanks!
Year Six £ £ MoneySense Week £ £
This week, year six have learnt about a range of financial skills and how to keep money safe, as part of Natwest's MoneySense week. They have learnt about the difference between debit and
credit; what bank statements are and how to read one; the different types of bank accounts available, as well as key terminology such as: interest, income, balance, overdraft, pension, tax
and salary. These helpful skills will be vital for the future and the children's mature attitude towards their learning this week was so impressive.
