The LBRFC 1st XV finished the season triumphantly with a run of 9 unbeaten league games, allowing them to finish 3rd in the table. They beat Rushden & Higham, St. Ives and Stockwood Park to obtain their top 3 position in Midlands 3 East (South) league. Congratulations to Vipers and Rushden & Higham who were promoted and good luck next season to them.
Hopefully the team will enjoy a well deserved break in order to rest any injuries and recuperate ready for the beginning of next season. They have provided us with very entertaining, and at some points nail-biting games this season and we are very proud of their achievements - well done lads.
For anyone wishing to join the Senior squad, pre-season training begins on Tuesday June 30th at 7pm. It would be lovely to see some new faces as well as old faces returning!
Final Results of the Season:
LBRFC 37 - 10 Rushden & Higham.
St. Ives 3 - 51 LBRFC.
LBRFC 40 - 19 Stockwood Park

LBRFC 1st XV Final Table Positioning 2014/2015 Season:
LBRFC Mini Rugby Festival U7, U8 & U9’s
a great success!
The LBRFC Mini Rugby Festival for the U7,
U8 and U9’s was held at Station Road on
Sunday 22nd March.
A great day was had by all, with over 40
teams competing in the tournament with a
special guest in attendance - Northampton
Saints’ very own Bernie the Mascot.
The sun shone on all, with many of the visit-
ing coach-
es com-
menting on
the well
organised
event and
how much
they en-
joyed it.
Well done to all who helped from the Junior
and Senior section of the club and a very well
done to U9’s who won their age group!
Start of Friday Night Tag Rugby.
Starting at 7pm on May 15th and continu-
ing on every Friday over the summer, Tag
Rugby is coming to LBRFC. Minimum age of
16, for men
and women
alike, it will
be a case of
rocking up at
the club play-
ing fields and
playing non-contact tag-rugby. All players
will wear a belt with Velcro tags, which the
tackler must remove without making con-
tact with the player.
Great fun for all, if you have never played
(or it has been so long you can’t remember
when you last played) or even if you are a
regular contact player, please come and
join us. The bar will be open afterwards
where we can all discuss our various
achievements during the game!

Comedy Night A Great Success!
A brilliant night was had at the Comedy Night with comedi-
an Dean Courtney and laughs a plenty!
Over 70 people attended the event raising money for the
club development fund, whilst also raising £320 for Help
for Heroes.
We look forward to welcoming Dean back on September
19th of this year.
A huge thank you to Stuart ‘Trigger’ Welling, Deej Fair &
Jake Toseland for organising the event.
Sudbury Mini’s visit Buckby
31st March was a busy morn-
ing at Station Road. The wind
blew, the rain lashed down
but nothing could damped the
spirits of our visitors from
Suffolk. Under 7s through to Under 12s battled
hard whilst parents nursed aching heads.
The club house was full afterwards as the after
tour court sessions were held and sentences
handed down to the guilty (all of them!). We play
rugby for many reasons but the social side and
team spirit is at the forefront of things.
Sudbury were made to feel very welcome and
LBRFC have made some new friends.

3) Which team do you look forward to playing the most and why? Daventry, its always a hard
fought game of rugby.
4) Most embarrassing moment on a rugby field? My drop goal attempt earlier in the season.
5) Growing up who was your all-time favorite rugby player? Ben Cohen.
6) Favorite food and drink? Food is steak, and it has to be beer!

Every week, our dedicated Match Reporter, Nick Palmer, can be see at the side lines of the pitch, busy
scribbling information about the match. Goodness knows how he remembers all the specific phases of
play, but he does a cracking job. Now it is time to get to know the man behind the report a little better…
Name: Nick Palmer
Place of birth: Leicester (Sorry!)
Favourite food? Anything outdoors in the sun but especially fish
Favourite band or musician? The Rat Pack
Favourite drink? Strong tea or Guinness
What is the best sporting event you have ever been to? RWC Final in Paris 2007 -
shame we didn't win
If you could attend any sporting event in the world, what would it be? RWC Final
with England winning
How did you get involved in LBRFC and become a supporter? JP started playing there as an under 7
and I got involved in helping to run mini/junior sides few weeks later.
How many years have you supported or been involved with LBRFC? 18 years
What is your most embarrassing moment at the club? Being asked to fill in this questionnaire!
Which rugby team do you support? After Long Buckby it's Northampton Saints for me
Growing up, who was your all-time favourite rugby player? Willie John McBride
Who is your favourite LBRFC player? Apart from the obvious father son bias then it's Richard Ryan -
years with the club through thick and thin, always tenacious and at the heart of what's happening on and
off the field.
What is the best LBRFC game you have watched and why? Can I choose two? If so one would be
LBRFC Colts beating Daventry Colts in a night game at their ground with an injury time penalty breaking
the home supporters hearts. The second would be a couple of years ago when LBRFC 1st team beat Old
Scouts in the two separate cup semi finals and later hearing that one of their goals for the following sea-
son was to beat Long Buckby. It's nice to know we got that far up their noses!!
Who is your dream date? Lynda Palmer - aren't I romantic!
Three words to describe you: Boring, sensible, organised!!!
What is one piece of ‘life advice’ you would give out? Don't eat yellow snow - I should have added
'obvious' to three words to describe me!
If you could turn back time and witness one event, what would it be? Sammy Davis Junior live in Las
Vegas
The one place I would never go on holiday is… Hereford; it's too close to the Millennium Stadium!!
Sorry Nathan, sorry Dylan!
