Our wonderful contributors:Spring time is arguably our favourite time of year at Save the Date HQ. Not only is it both mine and Abbi’s birthdays but the

daffodils are making an appearance, the temperature is beginning to rise meaning summer is just around the corner and Easter is a time for pure indulgence. So, it makes sense that this edition is bursting with spring like inspiration with pops of colour on every page. We have a total of three amazing photo shoots to share with you; all so different and original but equally fabulous with a great mix of talented suppliers working on each one. They say never work with animals but our Spring shoot at Keythorpe Manor captures the essence of the season just perfectly with its Easter bunnies, deer and the cutest little duck! We hope to inspire you with each and every turn of the page, Happy Easter, Lydia xSave the Date MagazineT: 01530 223332M: 07553 343 890www.savethedatemagazine.co.uk

With our Country Chic Wedding Fair fast approaching at Keythorpe Manor on 19th April, we jumped at the

chance to share this beautiful spring like shoot with you, courtesy of Nicola at Eve Lily. We have seen lots and lots of venues in our time at Save the Date but Keythorpe Manor literally blew us away the first time we arrived. With an incredible setting enveloped by Leicestershire countryside and a stylish vibe yet retaining its charm and character, this is a venue with real class. Here’s Nicola to tell us more;

“A spring inspired shoot has been on my mind for some time now. I really wanted to work with different colours and textures for this time of year, the flowers and colours used show that you can adopt alternatives from the typical spring colours we are used to, mustard is a real favourite. We had a stunning day of spring weather and our gorgeous animals ensured spring well and truly came alive on the day, the joys of spring indeed!”

trays whereas marshmallows and smaller sweets suit jars. Depending on your style you could choose glass candy jars, rustic tree slices, vintage crockery, the list is endless and cakes and sweets can always be decorated with little flags if you wish. For a styled look keep all the desserts to a set colour palette, you can choose different shades or different colours but keeping to a set palette will look stunning.

If you are not so keen on the idea of desserts or want something similar for guests to help themselves from earlier in the day a drinks station might be more appropriate. Set up large drinks dispensers filled with signature cocktails and let guests help themselves.

At The Wedding of my Dreams we sell a large collection of sweet jars, cake plates, tongs, drinks dispensers and glasses. Be sure to check us out if you are thinking of setting something like this up at your wedding.

Do you and your other half LOVE cakes and sweet treats? If the answer to that question is yes then having a dessert table or

sweet station at your wedding might be just up your street.

Dessert tables are eye catching, economical and can fit in with any colour scheme or theme you have chosen for your wedding. You can either enlist the help of an expert or create your dessert table or sweet station yourself.

If you are going to create a dessert table yourself this article will be a useful source of inspiration. To start with you will need to work out how many sweets to buy, this will depend on the number of guests you are having. The event industry standard is approximately pound (or 8 ounces) per person, some may take more and others may take less but this is a good guide for the least amount of sweets you need.

Next you will need to decide what types of containers you are going to display your sweets, desserts and cakes in. This will depend on the types of desserts you choose and your overall wedding style. Some desserts such as doughnuts and cakes look better on cake plates on in

We got married on Saturday 23rd August 2014 in a little village in Derbyshire followed by our reception in Tipi’s

at Josh’s parents beautiful home. Josh’s parents offered their stunning home as the location for our Country Garden Wedding. We both love the outdoors and countryside so decided Tipi’s would be the perfect setting for our reception. The open fires added a homely, warming touch whilst making it feel a bit like glamping! The house itself dates back to the 16th Century so provided a beautiful back drop to our Tipi’s, complete with its own boating lake that we were mad enough to row around in the day! Choosing my dress was so much fun and the team at Lori G Bridal were fantastic in helping me to decide on such a beautiful dress. From day one I had said there was no way I wanted a strapless dress but I fell in love with it as soon as I put it on. I felt wonderful in my dress and my beautiful bridesmaids complimented me in their stunning Ghost dresses in different pastel shades. Whilst hosting a wedding on your own land can be challenging to say the least, it does of course come with the benefit of having complete

control over the theme, design, layout and general ambience of the day! We went for an ‘English Country Garden’ theme consisting of handmade signs, lots of fresh flowers from the garden and the brilliant team at Tineke Floral, pastel colours, out-door games and chilled out acoustic music to suit the August summer vibe. We also had a running theme of fresh lavender in plant pots and as the name places so everywhere smelt amazing! The majority of the decorations we did ourselves from the centre pieces, signs and name places to the handmade bunting on the rowing boat. We tried to be as creative as possible – we had handmade rose petal confetti at the church; we rowed around the small lake in our full wedding attire and had a sparkling send off at midnight to end the celebrations!”

Having organised and ran a huge amount of wedding events, it surprises us every time just how much of a buzz we get when the doors open and

the brides begin flooding in with their happy faces. Our Wedding Event with a Difference takes some serious planning; from floor plans to marketing, catwalk organisation to catering, we have LOTS to do on the lead up to our event but all that hard work is made worthwhile when we see people enjoying the day and it all comes together.

The Wedding Event with a Difference on Sunday 8th March was certainly no exception. With one of our best and most creative collections of exhibitor stands, we were blown away by how much effort our fabulous suppliers had made and were very excited to introduce this creative bunch to you, our brides to be.

Our next event takes place on Sunday 11th October so get the date in your diary when the Wedding Event with a Difference returns. And can you believe it will be our 10th event... watch this space for exciting announcements!

Here are a beautiful collection of images from the Wedding Event with a Difference on Sunday 8th March, with huge thanks to the super talented Rachael Connerton Photography.

This year, Peaktipis are celebrating their fifth fabulous year along with their fifth exciting Open Weekend on April 25th

and 26th in the beautiful heart of the picturesque Peak District. It will be the biggest and best yet, along with a team of trusted and talented ‘hand-picked’ suppliers.

2015 is a big year for Peaktipis - winning the Wedding Industry award for the Best Marquee provider in the East Midlands is testament to how far they have come in just five years. Remaining a small, friendly and experienced team, with owners Matthew and Duncan out on site erecting the tipis as well as building close relationships (and often lasting friendships!) with their clients, you can be assured of a quality, professional service and delivery for every single wedding or event.

With a full diary of bookings for 2015 and getting booked up for 2016, Peaktipis are going from strength to strength and a lot of their success is down to the immaculate standard and impeccable quality of their tipis.

Matthew says, “We know from our construction days that ‘you are only as good as your last job’ and so both have a keen eye for detail, strive for perfection and deliver an honest, professional service – traits that translate well from our previous construction profession to Peaktipis. We’re especially proud of the quality and standard of our tipi setups. It’s something that sets us apart from others in this industry and is hugely down to the unrivalled experience and knowledge of our small, passionate team.”

Rather than meeting expectations, the team at Peaktipis aim to exceed their clients’ expectations and will always go the extra mile with every last detail to ensure your wedding day is just perfect in every way. With their inspirational spaces and second-to-none service, you and your guests are guaranteed magical memories with Peaktipis.

Don’t just take our word for it, here’s what their lovely brides and grooms had to say about them:

“Peaktipis had the best attitude from all the marquee and tipi companies we considered.”

“I can’t thank Peaktipis enough. They were worth every penny. Their customer service is what made them so amazing!”

“Peaktipis Tipis were magnificent, well maintained, flexible, and very price competitive. From the first conversation with Matthew and Duncan we knew these guys would take care of us.”

“They were really friendly trustworthy people that truly delivered exactly as promised. They had very good attention to detail and were not content until everything was perfect. I couldn’t recommend them enough.”

So if you are after something with a touch of individuality for your special day, get in touch with Peaktipis.

A magnificent Grade I Listed former cotton mill dating back to the early 1800’s, The West Mill, is being restored and

converted into a beautiful wedding venue.  The building played an important part in history and the industrial revolution.

The renovation will retain the architecture of the 1800’s - barrel vaulted ceilings, exposed brick walls, Cast iron columns and beams, a unique cast iron ceiling, original blue / black brick tiled floors, an historical staircase and Georgian paned windows, as well as a state of the art kitchen, glass fronted lift and carefully chosen furniture pieces to embrace the industrial aesthetic.

It occupies a superb setting on the riverbanks of the River Derwent in Darley Abbey and overlooks it’s waterfall on the historical weir. Set over four floors with the benefit of a south facing courtyard, it really will be a stunning and atmospheric setting for your big day. Licensed for civil weddings for up to 170 guests, each wedding has exclusive use of the whole building for their wedding day.   The West Mills is a no corkage venue, offering you the choice of supplying your own daytime drinks with no corkage charge.

The renovation and refurbishment of the building started mid 2014 and is due to be completed in Summer 2015.

The building’s owner, his photographer friend and his stylist simply couldn’t wait for the space to be finished before they showed off the venue, so they organised a photoshoot to show the building as it is being brought back to life. Patience is not always a virtue it seems!   So they worked around the builders, painters and sandblasters, turned up the music to drown out the sound of drilling,  and produced some beautiful images that we share with you here.

Karen from Darby and Joan hatched a plan with the photographer, Richard Murgatroyd over a drink in the pub round the corner from The West Mills to put together the shoot, using wedding suppliers who understood and appreciated the style and the heart of the venue.

“Jacob and I are both from the UK but it took us both moving to Australia to cross paths in 2011. We were engaged on Christmas Day 2012, we knew we wanted to have a short engagement as we wanted to marry in the UK with all our family and friends there. It made sense to us to do this on our next planned trip home September 2013.

When looking for a venue I wanted something local and easy for people coming from out of town. We picked the Gallery at the Riverbank because being close to the centre of Nottingham it meant there were lots of public transport options for people and a variety of accommodation for all budgets. We couldn’t have been happier with our choice. We had our ceremony at the West Bridgford registry office as I had grown up in West Bridgford and often used to see weddings there when I was growing up.

The staff at the gallery were awesome as they were really flexible and pretty much let me do whatever I wanted, including hanging fairy lights which they hadn’t done before, this involved several emails back and forth from Australia and them getting up on a ladder to do measurements for me!

The day was amazing and everything ran very smoothly we were so lucky! The weather was perfect! We could not have asked for better being that it was the last day of September, everyone said we brought the Australian sun with us as there was not a cloud in the sky. The river Trent was perfect for photos and we got some truly amazing shots by Jen from Gravity Rides Photography. Because of the beautiful weather we were able to have our arrival drinks on the terrace which was great. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect day, to share such a happy moment with all our close friends and family was so special. The night turned into one great big party and everyone had so much fun, although there were a lot of sore heads the next day.

Everyone always told me take it all in because it goes so quickly but I never really believed them! It truly was the happiest quickest day of our lives.”

The New Year started with a real good feeling at Lori G Bridal Studio after a complete revamp over the Christmas holidays.

There wasn’t much time for rest, from knocking through walls to creating a new bridal suite and reception area to painting, decorating and new carpets throughout. But that’s what makes Irish sisters Lorraine & Sandra happy; to see their beautiful boutique looking its absolute best for their discerning clients.

Having bought the building back in 2005, 10 years of working hard, the business has gone from strength to strength. Lorraine had a vision of what she wanted to create in a bridal shop, the relaxed ambience, the style, the mood, not to mention a service like no other bridal shop. Now, 10 years on from what was a dream, Lori G has become a well known Bridal shop in the Midlands. This is down to Lorraine & the team at Lori G. They have built a reputation for being one of the best in the business, with an eye for detail and a service second to none.

Lorraine’s vast experience and background in the world of fashion and bridal means she is a complete and utter perfectionist. ‘I am obsessed with making sure the dress is totally perfect when it leaves my shop. I won’t settle for any less. The dress is always steamed, ironed and looking beautiful for the bride to collect; the after care is one of the elements of the process I care about the most. We don’t send our dresses home in bags squishing all the time and effort we have spent getting them ironed and looking

perfect. We also offer a dressing service whereby I come along on the day of the wedding and dress the bride and bridesmaids, taking the stress away and ensuring everyone is dressed to perfection.” The new revamped studio offers a reception area on arrival to sit, have a drink if you wish and browse through albums of past brides or bridal magazines. Then you will be shown through to the bridal suite which is exclusively yours for the time you are there. Lori G offers a one to one appointment where you have the privacy to try on with hands on help to get you in and out of the dresses. Your bridal party can sit on the comfortable couches with a glass of fizz whilst soaking up the special atmosphere.

So, if you’re on the hunt for your dream dress and looking for a special, personal service, get in touch with Lori G.

Is there anything more romantic than saying ‘I Do’ in the summer breeze, as the sun sets, with candles

glimmering and birdsong in the distance? We think not.

So, it comes as no surprise that award winning venues such as Beeston Fields are seeing a huge surge in couples requesting an outdoor ceremony within the beautiful confines of their quaint Walled Garden. Venue Manager, Emma Davidson says “We’ve all been watching outdoor ceremonies on American romcoms for years. There’s something very humbling and grounding saying your most binding and natural vows in a setting created by mother nature. It makes it all feel very pure as the birds are singing and the sun shines down on you both.”

So, to convey this idyllic image, we set about creating a photo shoot at dusk, with understated, woodland inspired styling and a feeling of ‘bringing the outside in’. And we are very excited to share the results with you.
