م�رشوع املجموعة الرابعة يف منهاج البكالوريا الدوليةمن عشر الثاني الصف في العلوم مادة طلبة قام عليه يطلق ما بتنفيذ الدولية البكالوريا منهاج مشروع المجموعة الرابعة، وذلك في جزيرة »حوار« خالل شهر أكتوبر. وهو عبارة عن مشروع يستغرق 10 ساعات من العمل البحثي الذي يتم التخطيط له

وتنفيذه وتقديمه من قبل الطلبة وفق مجموعات.»الماء«، هو للمشروع الرئيسي الموضوع كان تناوله الطلبة ضمن مجاالت علوم األحياء والفيزياء والكيمياء وتشتمل المواضيع الفرعية التي تم بحثها على العوامل المؤثرة في التمثيل الكلوروفيلي تحت

والعوامل البحر، مياه تنقية في المستخدمة الوسائل بين والمقارنة الماء، المؤثرة في توليد الطاقة الهيدرو كهربائية.

وقد تمكن الطلبة هذا العام من انهاء العمل على المشروع وهم وال زالوا في حوار بما في ذلك الكتابة، والتقديم، والتقييم.

وقد عرض الطلبة بحوثهم على زمالئهم وكانت العروض ذات مستوى متميز حيث استمتع الطلبة بالتفكير في النتائج والخالصات التي توصل اليها زمالئهم. وعاد الطلبة بعدها الى المدرسة بعد ان اتموا احد متطلبات البكالوريا الدولية ضمن

اجواء ممتعة ومريحة.

Group 4 Project in the IB diploma ProgramGrade 12 IB science students conducted their Group 4 project – a ten-hour investigation planned, conducted and presented by students in groups – at Hawar island in October.

The theme of the project was “Water”, and the sub-topics included a variety of Biology, Physics and Chemistry topics including factors affecting photosynthesis under water, comparison of methods of purification of sea-water and factors affecting hydroelectric power.

This year, the students completed the final stages of the project including the write-up, presentation, and self and peer assessment at Hawar. The quality of the presentations was high and students enjoyed reflecting on the results and conclusions of each group.

We returned home with one of the IB requirements completed, and had an enjoyable time in a pleasant setting.

Honor Society

Nineteen new members joined the IKNS Honor Society for the year 2011-2012. The new members were honored in a special ceremony that took place on May 2011. The Honor Society recognizes high GPA, active participation in clubs and sports, as well as exemplary personal and citizenship qualities.

انضم الى جمعية الشرف للعام ٢011-٢01٢ عدد 1٩ عضوا جديدا تم تكريمهم ضمن احتفال خاص اقيم يوم ٢٩ مايو ٢011 وذلك بحضور اولياء امورهم وزمالئهم الطلبة. ويتميز اعضاء جمعية الشرف بحصولهم على معدالت دراسية عالية

وبمشاركتهم الفعالة في النوادي واالنشطة وبحسن المواطنة العالي الذي يتحلون به.

IKNS MUNمنوذج الأمم املتحدةسافر فريق نموذج األمم المتحدة الى ديسمبر شهر في للمدرسة المتحدة لمدة ثالث المملكة لندن، مثل دولي. مؤتمر لحضور أيام وقد مختلفة، بلدان خالله الطالب من طالب مع جنب إلى جنبا عملو دول اخرى للتوصل الى قرارات تقلل من األثار السلبية لتغير المناخ. أنجز المفاوضات خالل من هذا الطالب

والمناقشات والعمل الجماعي.في مارس شهر في الفريق شارك كذلك مؤتمر دولي أخر انعقد في واشنطن، الواليات قضايا خالله الطالب ناقش األمريكية. المتحدة مثل حقوق المرأة في أفريقيا، انتشار األسلحة النووية،

الفقر، اإلنتشار النووي ووقف الجوع في العالم.كما شارك طالب نموذج األمم المتحدة في مؤتمرمحلي انعقد في مدرسة البيان النموذجية. وقد تم التحضير لهذا المؤتمر عن طريق مؤتمر تحضيري

نظم في مدرسة ابن خلدون الوطنية.نحن فخورون جدا بإنجازات طالبنا هذا العام، ونتطلع إلى ما سيقدمونه السنة

الدراسية المقبلة.

During the month of December an IKNS MUN travel team participated

in the Global Classrooms Conference in London, England. Over the

course of three days the students represented various countries and

worked together with other international students to create resolutions to

minimize the effects of Climate Change. The students accomplished this

through debates, negotiations and well executed team work.

In the month of March another IKNS MUN travel team participated in

the Washington Area Model United Nations Conference in Washington

DC, USA. Here the students debated issues like Women Rights in Africa,

Urban Poverty, Nuclear Proliferation and Stopping World Hunger.

The MUN students also took part in a local conference held at the Bayan

Bahrain School along with a smaller preparatory mock conference that

was organized here at IKNS.

We are very proud of what our students have accomplished this year and

are looking forward to the upcoming school year.

تمنح جائزتي سمر األنصاري سنويا من قبل والدي سمر لطالبين من الصف الثاني عشر، حيث تمنح الجائزة األولى للطالب الذي يحقق التي للطالبة واألخرى اإلقتصاد مادة في أكاديميا تميزا البدنية. قدمت والدة سمر التربية تحقق تميزا في مادة رحمها الله و اسكنها فسيح جناته، الدكتورة رندة حمادة، جائزة التفوق في االقتصاد للطالبة مزون مطر، وذلك خالل حفل جمعية الشرف الذي اقيم بتاريخ ٢٩ مايو ٢011 هذا مع العلم بأن جائزة سمر للتفوق في االقتصاد تمنح للطالب الذي يظهر تميزا في تطبيق وتحليل وتقييم مفاهيم ونظريات اقتصادية ضمن سياق حاالت تمثل العالم الواقعي . وتقدم جائزة التفوق الرياضي ضمن حفل توزيع الجوائز الرياضية والذي أقيم أيضا بتاريخ ٢٩ مايو٢011 ، وقد قدمت الجائزة هذا العام للطالبة

النا الباشا لكونها أفضل طالبة رياضية لهذا العام الدراسي .

The Samar Al-Ansari Awards are offered annually

by Samar’s parents to two grade twelve students who show excellence, one in the subject

of Economics and the second in the subject of Physical Education.

The Economics Award for the school 2010/2011 was presented by Samar’s mother, Dr. Randah Hamadah, during the Honor Society ceremony that was held on 29 May 2011. The winner of the Award was the Grade 12 student Muzoon Mattar. Samar’s Economics Award is granted to the student who shows excellence in applying, analyzing and evaluating Economic concepts and theories in the contest of real world examples.

The Athletics Award is presented during the Athletics Award ceremony which also took place on 29 May 2011. Samar’s Athletics Award for the year 2010/2011 was awarded to the student Lana Basha for being the best female student athlete of the year.

ن�ساطات برنامج CAS )البداع، والعمل، واخلدمة(One of the very successful CAS activities at IKNS was teaching elementary school students the basics of Hapkido and Basketball by IB students who excel in their sports. This activity took place in the period of January-March 2011. Ahmed Dhaif, Ahmed Juma and Yousif Abdulaal gave the Hapkido classes, and Abdulla Akram, Talal Aradi and Abdulla Mattar gave the basketball classes. Grade 2 students enjoyed being taught by the “big” students at IKNS.

Hapkido classes were also given by the same Hapkido group during the period from November – January 2012 were another group of Grade 2 students benefited from the activity.

أحد أنجح األنشطة التي تم اضافتها إلى برنامج الـ CAS في مدرسة ابن خلدون الهابكيدو وكرة المدرسة االبتدائية على مبادىء فن الوطنية هو تدريب طلبة السلة من قبل مجموعة من طلبة البكالوريا الدولية الذين يتميزون في هاتين الرياضتين . وقد امتدت فترة التدريب ما بين شهري يناير ومارس من العام الطلبة أحمد ضيف وأحمد جمعة ويوسف عبدالعال بتدريب ٢011 ، حيث قام فن الهابكيدو في حين قام الطلبة عبدالله األكرم وطالل العرادي وعبدالله مطر بتدريب كرة السلة، وقد استمتع طلبة الصف الثاني االبتدائي بتدربهم على يد طلبة المدرسة الثانوية، وعليه فقد تم تكرار تدريب الهابكيدو لمجموعة أخرى بين شهر ما ذاتهم وذلك المدربين الثاني االبتدائي على يد الصف من طلبة

نوفمبر ٢011 وشهر يناير ٢10٢.

طة احتفال اليوم الوطني يف املدر�سة املتو�سفي إطار االحتفال باليوم الوطني، ارتدى طلبة المدرسة المتوسطة وبفخر األزياء اعالم توزيع اليوم هذا تم خالل وقد وقادتها، البحرين مملكة لتكريم الوطنية البحرينية العلم كذلك تم توزيع الحلويات التي تحمل صورة البحرين والشارات نادي اعضاء الطلبة بمساعدة وذلك المتوسطة المدرسة لطلبة الفسحة أثناء

اإلشراف واعضاء مجلس الطلبة.

National Day Celebration in the Middle School

With pride, students wore their national clothes honoring Bahrain and

its leaders. The Middle School celebrated National Day with sales of flags

and pins. With the help of the Prefects Club and members of the Student

Council, Bahraini sweets were offered during break to Middle School

students in celebration of the event.

نظم نادي التراث زيارة للمستشفى العسكري يوم األحد الموافق 11 مارس ٢01٢. شارك في الزيارة 14 طالب وطالبة من المرحلة المتوسطة والثانوية وقدتبرع الطلبة للمستشفى بثمانية كراسي متحركة.

The Heritage Club organized a trip to the B.D.F Hospital to donate 8 wheelchairs. 14 students from the Middle and Secondary School participated in the event.

Think Pink Campaign

Middle School Anti-bullying Awareness Campaign

A “Think Pink” campaign was adopted in October 2011 to raise awareness about breast cancer and its prevalence in young women. Pink decorated cupcakes were donated by students, to be sold during break, and “Pink Day” was conducted to raise money for the cause.

The Middle School started the new year with an Anti-bullying Awareness campaign, which continued throughout February 2012. The campaign involved awareness on identifying and responding to various kinds of bullying. Mr. Ramzi Al-Hout, the Middle School Counselor, addressed Anti-bullying through topics of “Friendship” for grade 6 students

and “Conflict Resolution” for grade 8 students. “Anti-bullying: How to Identify and Respond” was the title for the grade 7 presentations given by Ms. Hilda khairallah.

حملة التوعية مبكافحة التنمرمكافحة حول توعية بحملة الجديد العام المتوسطة المدرسة بدأت ظاهرة التنمر، وقد استمرت هذه الحملة حتى نهاية شهر فبراير ٢01٢. المختلفة من األشكال توعية في مسألة تحديد الحملة وقد تضمنت المرشد الحوت، رمزي األستاذ قدم حيث مواجهتها، وكيفية التنمر خالل من التنمر مكافحة مسألة المتوسطة، للمدرسة االجتماعي موضوع الصداقة لطلبة الصف السادس، وموضوع كيفية حل النزاعات لطلبة الصف الثامن؛ كما قدمت األستاذة هيلدا خير الله محاضرة الى

طلبة الصف السابع "مكافحة التنمر: كيفية التحديد واالستجابة".

ف الثامن رحلة العلوم لل�سرحلة ضمن الدولية البحرين حلبة الثامن الصف طلبة زار ،٢01٢ يناير في العلوم التعليمية، حيث تم إطالعهم على بعض التطورات التي ادت الى رفع كفاءة السيارة بما في ذلك جعل شكل السيارة اكثر انسيابية. وقد قام الطلبة بجولة في ميدان السباق حيث تمكنوا من رؤية أدوات االستشعار التي تستعمل لقياس

مدى السرعة.

Grade 8 Science Field TripGrade 8 students visited the Bahrain International Circuit in January 2012, as an educational science field trip. They were introduced to the development of carting cars that improved their efficiency including building cars that are more streamline. Students also had a tour on the track where they were able to see the sensors used to measure speed.

املناف�سات الريا�سية يف املدر�سة املتو�سطةتنظم المدرسة المتوسطة انشطة رياضية أثناء الفسحة يشارك بها الطلبة بحماس وتتضمن هذه االنشطة إقامة مباريات كرة قدم بين الصفوف االرشادية التي تلقى اقباال كبيرا من قبل المشجعين. ويقوم أستاذ التربية البدنية زاهر أبي المنى، حضور على طلبتهم بحث اإلرشادية الصفوف أساتذة يقوم بينما بالتحكيم، المباريات ودعم فرقهم. ويضفي هذا النشاط المتعة والحماسة على الفسح، كما

يزين اليوم المدرسي لمحبي كرة القدم.

Middle School IntramuralsAn anticipated and exciting event takes place every day during break in

the Middle School. Soccer games between different Homerooms tend to

attract big cheering crowds. Mr. Zaher Abilmona, the Middle School P.E.

teacher, referees the games and Homeroom teachers rally their students to

attend the games in support of their teams. Intramurals adds enjoyment

and enthusiasm to breaks and highlights the day for soccer lovers.

جمل�س طلبة املدر�سة املتو�سطة.المدرسة في الطلبة مجلس انطلق للمرشحين، قوية انتخابية بحمالت المتوسطة انتخابات إلى أدت لالهتمام، مثيرة تبعتها خطابات مع الطلبة مجلس ويعمل عالية. بمشاركة واعية فعال بشكل شويكوتم، ميشال األستاذة مرشدته، للطالب، بالمتعة ومليئا مثيرا الحالي العام لجعل المنتخب مجلسهم عبر زمالئهم مقترحات ولتحقيق المشاركة خالل من ناحج طالبي عمل إلى متطلعين

الفعالة لجميع الطالب.

Middle School Student Council

The Middle School Student Council started with intense election campaigns of candidates, followed by interesting

speeches, leading to informed elections with great participation. The Student Council and its advisor, Ms. Michelle Chauikaitum, are working hard to make this an exciting and fun-filled year for students. They are eager to have students’ suggestions be realized through their elected Council. They are also looking forward to having successful student functions by the active participation of all students.

أقامت المدرسة اليوم الرياضي السنوي للمرحلة الثانوية وآخر للمرحلة المتوسطة بتاريخ ٢٣ فبراير و 1 مارس.

تنافست بعدها وأناشيدهم، زيهم عرض من الصفوف مكن بطابور اليوم بدأ الصفوف خالل اليوم ضمن ألعاب عدة تضمنت:

كرة الطائرة كرة القدم سباق ملء الدلو صراع الدكة كرة السلة سباق الحصيرة

مصارعة الذراع شد الحبل سابق الحواجز كرة اليد سباق المزارع

اليوم الرياضي هو يوم مليء بالحيوية والنشاط يرفع من معنويات أفراد الفرق المختلفة ويعزز الروح الرياضية فيما بينهم. وقد وفر مجلس أولياء األمور والمعلمين والطلبة مشكورا الطعام للطلبة خالل اليومين الرياضيين. لقد كانا يومان ناجحان لكل من

المدرسة المتوسطة والثانوية، حيث استمتع كل من الطلبة والمدرسين.

IKNS held its annual sports days for both Middle School and High School on the 1st of March and 23rd of February, with a variety of events. The day started with an assembly where the homerooms were able “to show off ” their uniforms and chants! All homerooms competed in different events throughout the day, these events included: Fill the bucket Soccer VolleyballMat Relay Basketball Bench JoustObstacle Race Tug of War Arm WrestlingFarmer Race Hand Ball Sports Day is such a vibrant and active team event that boosts team morale and sportsmanship. The food for both Sports Days was generously organized by the PTSA. The Middle and Secondary Schools sports days were very successful and were enjoyed by students and teachers.

The Grade 5 students visited Shaikhan AlFarsi School for the Hearing Impaired and Alia Center for Early Intervention.

Each year the Elementary School students visit various homes, schools, and centers around Bahrain as part of the school’s Community awareness activities

نظمت المدرسة نشاطا صباحيا لطلبة الصفين الرابع أ والرابع ب لتنظيف جزء من شاطىء الزالق، وقد شعر الطلبة باالعتزاز لقيامهم بهذا النشاط الخارجي.

الحضانة والمدرسة االبتدائية. وقد الى مالعب مرحلة تم اضافتها العاب وتجهيزات جديدة تضمنت هذه التجهيزات أصنافا متنوعة من أجهزة التسلق واألراجيح،التي شأنها ان تشجع الطلبة

على ممارسة التمارين الرياضية اثناء الفسح.

ف الرابع يزورون متحف البحرين الوطني طلبة ال�ساألول من الفصل الوطني خالل البحرين بزيارة متحف الرابع الصف قام طلبة السنة المدرسية، وذلك ضمن إطار منهاجهم التعليمي لمادة االجتماعيات. وقد استمتع الطلبة بالتعلم عن الحضارات القديمة التي سكنت البحرين من خالل زيارة

المعروضات المختلفة الموجودة داخل المتحف.

Grade 4 Students Visit Bahrain National MuseumAs part of the Grade four social studies curriculum, Grade four students visited the Bahrain National Museum during their first trimester of the school year.

The main focus of the visit was Bahrain’s earlier civilizations, which the students enjoyed learning about through visiting the different displays at the museum.

All Grade One students visited Al Areen Wildlife Park in Zallaq. The students enjoyed observing and learning about the various animals featured in the wildlife center.

The school organized a beach clean-up morning for students in Grade 4A and 4B, in the Zallaq area. The students found it exciting to be outside the school doing such a worthwhile job.

New playground equipment were installed on the playgrounds for KG and the

Elementary School. The new equipment consists of various types of climbing apparatus

and swings, that provide students, with valuable movement, stretching, and relaxing

time during break.

مزرعة حيوانات تزور طلبة الرو�سةلتالميذ حيوانات مزرعة عن مصغر معرض مؤخرا أقيم مهرا، الحيوانات وتضمنت والثانية. األولى الروضة صفي وخروفين، ودجاجا، وإوزا. وقد كان حماس الطلبة مذهال عندما شاهدوا الحيوانات في الصباح حيث استمتعوا الى اقصى حد بوجودهم على مقربة من هذه الحيوانات وبتفاعلهم

مع الحركات التي تقوم بها واألصوات التي تطلقها.

Farm Animals Visit KG Students

A small exhibit of farm animals was on exhibit recently to students of KGI and KGII. The animals included a pony, two sheep, hen and geese. When students arrived at school that morning, the excitement was astonishing. The students thoroughly enjoyed being up close to the animals and reacting to the animals’ behavior and sounds.

باللغة االنجليزية.A first aid course through the Red Crescent Society of the Kingdom of Bahrain was offered to Arabic-speaking teachers in the Kindergarten and Elementary sections of the school.

The course was offered on two consecutive Saturday mornings on the school campus from 8 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The course was thorough and intense. Participating teachers received an ID badge issued by the Red Crescent Society indicating that they are now qualified to perform first aid to injured persons when the need arise. During the 2010-2011 school year, a number of the English-speaking staff participated in the same course which was conducted in English.

الوملبياد الدويل لالجهزة الآليةاشترك فريق يضم ثالثة من طالب الصف الخامس االبتدائي، باألولمبياد الدولي لألجهزة اآللية الذي نظمه مجلس ابوظبي للتعليم وذلك في مركز ابوظبي الوطني للمعارض من 18 حتى ٢0 نوفمبر ٢011م. وقد شارك في األولمبيات حوالي

1٥00 طالبا وطالبة اتو من ٣8 دولة مختلفةالحياة"،وقد آلية )روبوت( لتحسين اما عن موضوع األولمبياد فكان "أجهزة اشترك فريق المدرسة عن طريق بناء رجال آليا يستطيع أن يساعد في تنظيف كفريق الطلبة عمل نووية. كارثة أو إعصار أو فيضان، نتيجة دمرت مناطق بتمثيل وطنهم ومدرستهم. كاملين، وكانوا فخورين واحد على مدى شهرين وقد راقفهم في هذه الرحلة كل من األستاذتين ترودي جورج وسمية التميمي.

World Robotics OlympiadA team of three Grade five students participated in the World Robotics Olympiad (WRO), The Olympiad was organized by the Abu Dhabi Educational council in the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center, from 18 to 20 November 2011. Around 1,500 students from 38 countries participated in the Olympiad. The theme for the WRO 2011 was Robotics for life improvement. The IKNS team built a robot that can help in cleaning areas that have been destroyed by a flood, tornado or nuclear disaster. The students worked as a team for two months and were proud to present their country and their school. Both Ms. Trudy George and Mrs. Sumayya Altameemy accompanied the students on the trip. During the April Mid-Term Break 51 students from the Middle School and High School went on a Ski Trip to International Winter Camp Verbier Les Elfes in Switzerland. Mr.Sari Manna, Mr. Zaher Abilmona, Mr. Mohamed Alameddine, Ms. Michelle Chauikaitum, Ms. Lucy Hogg, Ms. Eliana El Rahbany, Mr. Mario Ishak, Ms. Jamie Fontenot, and Mr. Abbas Hudroj accompanied the students on this trip.

The Heritage Club organized a Umra trip during the Mid- Term Break. A total of 80 students, parents and teachers went on this spiritual trip. The supervisors were Ms. Layla Alruway’i, Mr. Shadi Hassoun, Mr. Fadi Hassoun, Mr. Imad Haffar, Mr. Karam Najjar, Mrs. Amal Alhaddad, Mrs. Dania Al Tall, Mrs. Farah Sami .

Ski Trip to Dubai

The Middle School organized an educational trip to Rome and Sorrento, Italy, as an extension to the Grade 8 social studies curriculum of ancient civilizations. Fourteen students participated in this trip that was from February 2-6, 2012. It was supervised by Mrs. Hilda Khairallah, Mr. Wayne Cornak, and Ms. Valerie Hedican.

Twenty seven students from grade 5, Elementary School participated in a Ski trip to Dubai, UAE. Ms. Lucy Horvath, Mrs. Ewa Abuszyniec, Mr. William Kelly and Mr. Robert Mitchell accompanied the students.

Trip to CERNDuring the April break, 11 IB and HS Physics students went on a trip to CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Switzerland. CERN is one of the world’s largest and most respected centers for scientific research. The trip was supervised by Ms. Aisha Alkhalifa and Mrs. Rola Barghout.

During the April Mid-Term Break 13 students from the High School went on an adventures trip to Jordan and joined the Jordanian Challenging Team. Mr.Ramzi Al Hout, and Miss. Enas Aqrabawi accompanied the students on this trip.
