59th Annual Mahotsav Review

Obituary

The 59th Annual SKA Mahotsav was held on Sunday 18th August 2019

at the Watford Colosseum, Rickmansworth Road, Watford

under the Honorary Presidentship ofMahotsav Pramukh Dampati

Mr Dhansukhlal Parsotam Pokkawalaand Mrs Hasuben Dhansukhlal Pokkawala.

The packed venue was treated to an entertaining programme consisting of Cultural dances, Garba, Raas,

Bollywood Mix Song performances and lots of great performances by Pramukh’s Family.

On the completion of the programme, members were able to purchase alcoholic drinks at the bar before

completing the evening with a vegetarian and non-vegetarian buffet food.

Mahotsav 2019 ReviewHasuben Dhansukhlal Pokkawala with Hansaben Parmar and Anita Narottam started the 59th Mahotsav at around 1.45pm with the lighting of the divo to Shri Ganeshji asking for his blessings for the success of the Mahotsav. Next items were The Prathana “Itni Shakti Hame Dena Data” and Swagat Geet “Suswagatam…”

This was followed by the introduction of the Honorary President Dampati Mr Dhansukhlal Parsotam Pokkawala and Mrs Hasuben Dhansukhlal Pokkawala by Mr Sudhir Dayaram Khatri in Gujarati and then by their nephew Mr Mukesh VallabhbhaiKhatri in English then their son Mr Pravin Dhansukhlal Khatri and grandchildrenJasmine Pravin Khatri and Chirag Pravin Khatri.

A two minutes silence was observed as we remembered those who passed away and prayed that their souls rest in peace. Ganesh Deepak Khatri and Ashish Gudiwala read out the good wishes and greetings from various Kshatriya Mandals around the world, as well as messages from relatives and well-wishers for the Mahotsav to be a great success.

The entertainment began with Bharat Natyam Fusion Dance followed by dances Party Mix and Little Stage Rockers, which were enjoyed by the audience. Ganesh Deepak Khatri appealed to the members to join SKA Committee. This was followed by a Donation appeal, Hitesh Kalidas gave a speech using the powerpoint presentation.

Entertainment continued with the dance “Bollywood Bambinos Bounce Back”, Garbo “Ghoomar…” and dance “Bhangra Beatz”.

To give everyone a breather from the entertainment a refreshment break followed with tea, biscuits and muffins provided for all. SKA would like to thank the Pramukh Dampati for their generous donation of these refreshments and the evening dinner in the memory oftheir parents. (Mr Parsotam Laxmidas Pokkawala, Mrs Diwaliben Parsotam Pokkawala, Mr Dayaram Ambaram Khatri and Mrs Jamnaben Dayaram Khatri)

The programme continued with the floral presentation to the Honorary President. He then gave his personal views and thoughts. SKA President also made a speech congratulating the Pramukh Dampati and thanked everyone for attending and those leaving the committee.

Acknowledgements of Academic & Sporting Achievements were then announced; and all those who participated in the performances were reminded to collect their Gift Vouchers. General Acknowledgements were made thanking all participants and volunteers.

The entertainment continued with energetic Dances “Kamariya” , “The Gabru Jawaans”, “Non Stop Garbo”, “Shakti Kshatriyas”, “Veervaar/Morni Banke” and “Mr Pokkawala”.

This was followed by Open Speech and the announcement of the new committee was made by Anita Narottam. The record breaking new Committee made up of 10 members and 5 Co-Op members.

Continuing the Mahotsav tradition we had a special treat with the President’s Family performing the Dance “Purani Yaadein Aur Naya Dhamal”.

Next followed the eagerly awaited raffle draw, most entertainingly compered by Mr Mukesh Vallabhbhai Khatri. The following great prizes were presented to the winners with the lucky tickets.

Finally, the British and the Indian National Anthems were sung to end the entertainment segment of the day… but NOT the evening. The bar opened for members to have a drink or two with Masala Caterers serving the vegetarian and non-vegetarian buffet.

Without you the Mahotsav just would NOT be possible. All performances were outstanding and a pleasure to watch. So encourage your family members to participate because it is also great for personal development to perform on stage!

And a BIG thank you to all those volunteers who have selflessly helped before, during and after the Mahotsav. Your help is, as always, greatly appreciated and is indeed most welcome.

Navratri Like last year, this year's Navratri Fes�vi�es was held only for one day on 5th October at Lycee Interna�onal De Londres Winston Churchill (formerly Brent Town Hall), Address 54 Forty Lane, Wembley HA9 9LY with the popular band Saraswa� Kala. Nearly 400 people a�ended the event and enjoyed Garba-Raas, along with the snacks Dabeli, Khichi (papdi no lot), Samosa Chaat and cold Faloodo, served by Masala Caterers.

We would like to thank Saraswa� Kala Group, Masala Caterers and everyone who helped with the set up.

2019 Children's Christmas PartyFor the children, this year's Christmas Party will be on

from Saturday 14th December 2019 3pm to 6pm

at the SKA Community Hall. We are inviting all Children 10 years or under to attend the fun, games

and entertainment at this ever popular event. To avoid the hall getting crowded, it is requested that only one parent of children under 5 can accompany them, all

other parents are requested to drop their children at 3pm and collect them at 6pm.

PLEASE NOTE that the number of attendees to the party is restricted to 50 children. There will be no entry on the door, hence you will have to

�મુખ દંપતી માનનીય ધનસુખલાલ પરસો�મ �ીમાન

પો�ાવાલા હસુબેન ધનસુખલાલ પો�ાવાલા અને �ીમતી

હતા.

આ િદવસે મનોરંજક કાય��મ સાથે સાં�કૃિતક નૃ�યો, ગરબા,

બોલીવુડ િમકસ સોગં �દશ�ન અને મુ�ય પિરવાર �ારા એક મહાન

�દશ�ન સમાવવામાં આ�યું હતું. �ો�ામના સમાિ� પછી, દરકે

સ�યોએ શાકાહારી અને િબનશાકાહારી ભોજનની મ� માણી

હતી.

૧.૪૫ વાગે ભગવાન ગણપિત પાસે દીપ �ગટાવી મહો�સવની

સફળતા માટે તેમના આશીવા�દ માં�યા અને ૫૯માં મહો�સવની

શ�આત કરી હતી. પછી �ાથના "ઈતની શિ� હમે દેના દાતા"

અને �વાગત ગીત "સુ�વાગતમ ... . . " રજૂ થયા હતા.

શુભે�છાઓ વાંચી. ગણેશ દીપક ખ�ીએ આગામી એ�એમની

�હેરાત કરી.

�યારબાદ િહતેશ કાિલદાસ �ારા દાન માટે અપીલ કરવામાં આવી

હતી.

આભારએસકેએ ફરી એક વખત બધાનો આભાર માને છે જમેણે તેમના

સમય સમપ�ણ કરી �દશ�ન માટે ભાગ લીધો હતો. તેઓના િવના

મહો�સવ શ� નથી. બધા �દશ�ન બહુ સરસ હતા અને

જોવાનો આનંદ મા��ો હતો. તેથી આગામી મોહ�સવ માટે

તમારા કુટંુબના સ�યોને ભાગ લેવા �ો�સાિહત કરો કારણ કે તે

�યિ�ગત િવકાસ માટે જ�રી છે!

અને �વયંસેવકોનો આભાર, જમેણે મહો�સવ પહેલા, દરિમયાન

અને પછી િનઃ�વાથ� રીતે મદદ કરી હતી,.

યાદ રાખો કે આગામી સામાિજક સં�યા માટે મિહનાની ૧૫ મી તારીખથી

બુિકંગ લેવામાં આવે છે.

શિનવાર ૧૪મી િડસે�બર ે૨૦૧૯ બપોરના 3 વા�યાથી 6 વા�યા સુધી રહશેે.

અમે હંમેશાંની જમે આ ��યાત ઇવે�ટમાં આનંદ, રમતો અને મનોરંજનમાં

ભાગ લેવા માટે ૧૦ વષ� કે તેથી નાના બાળકોને આમંિ�ત કરી ર�ાં છીએ.

હોલમા ભીડથી બચવા માટે િવનંતી કરવામાં આવે છે કે ૫ વષ�થી નીચેના

બાળકોની મા� એક માતા કે િપતા તેમની સાથે રહી શકે છે, અ�ય તમામ

માતાિપતાને તેમનાં બાળકોને ૩ વાગે મૂકી અને તેમને ૬ વાગે લઈ જવા

િવનંતી કરવામાં આવે છે.

મહેરબાની કરીને નોધં કરો કે પાટ�માં હાજરી આપનારાઓની સં�યા ૫૦

બાળકો સુધી મયા�િદત છે. દરવા� પર કોઈ એ�ટ� ી હશે નહી,ં તેથી તમાર ે

તમારા બાળકોને EVENTS@SKAUK.ORG પર ઇમેઇલ કરીને અથવા

�ોિત િહતેશકુમાર ટેલર ને ૦૭૯૦૫ ૪૭૧૨૦૬ પર ૭મી િડસે�બર ેપહેલા

દરકે બાળકના નામ અને ઉમર સાથે ફોન કરવો પડશે. વહેલા તે પહેલાના

ધોરણે નોધંણી કરાશે.

Diwali / New Year Party 2019Our annual will be held on at our usual Diwali Party Friday 1st November

venue Kadwa Patidar Centre, Kenmore Ave, Harrow HA3 8LU. The party will start at 7pm.

Agenda for the meeting:1. Approval of Previous AGM Minutes2. Hall update and Health & Safety 3. Approval of the Accounts for the year ended 31 March 2019 4. Re-Appointment of Auditors5. Approve the following resolution:“From 2020 onwards the annual SKA membership fee for adults shall be increased from £15 to £20”

6. Any Other BusinessWe encourage all our members, particularly the younger members of our community, to attend at this year’s AGM. The AGM is your opportunity to share your views, have your voices heard and decide the future of our community! We look forward to seeing you there.Please note that we cannot start until we have a minimum number of 35 members present (quorum), so please ensure that you attend on time.
