Do You Need To Travel to your Specialist?
Most health conditions have a specialist option these days. Follow up consultations with specialists often involve a long distance trip, time off work and a lot of personal expense.
Ask your specialist if they will provide a virtual/video consultation (telehealth).
Telehealth services are available at the Centre FREE of charge to the client. We are able to link into any specialist service that deems it appropriate to do so. Specialists and G.P.s are provided with Medicare payments for telehealth appointments.
Our service has so far enabled telehealth appointments for clients with orthopaedic surgeons, oncology services, numerous specialties at the Royal Children’s Hospital, mental health practitioners, diabetes educators, dieticians and the list goes on.
Our experienced nursing staff will support any clinical assessment required and we have a dedicated confidential telehealth space here on site.
Please speak to our administration or nursing staff if you would like us to facilitate a telehealth consultation for you.
Nurse Lead Models of Care
The NSW Government are singing the praises of “a new and innovative” model
of care to assist with the increasing burden on their health system. Nurse lead
walk in clinics are being established (and well-funded via the state’s primary
care dollars). These trial clinics are seeing increasing take up by the general
public and reducing pressure on emergency room departments.
The Balmoral Bush Nursing Centre (along with our neighbours at Harrow)
belongs to a network of 15 Bush Nursing Centres in Victoria that have been
successfully delivering this model for almost a century. We have always argued
that the model could be well established in any regional town, city or
metropolitan area with significant positive health outcomes.
We are hoping the assessment data from review of the NSW initiative will
validate the importance of local primary health care access and assist our
continued fight for an effective funding model for centres in Victoria.

First Aid Course - why do I need to know?
Learning basic first aid is as easy as ABC. A is for airway, B is for Breathing
and C is for compressions.
Learning basic first aid can help you cope if faced with an emergency until an ambulance arrives. You
may be able to keep a person breathing, help reduce their pain or position them to prevent further injury.
CPR is a basic life saving skill that everyone should learn. In an
emergency situation it can mean the difference between life and death.
There is no age limit to learning CPR, and carrying out CPR is only
limited by the physical capabilities of the person administrating the help.
Doing some CPR in an emergency is better than doing nothing.

2015 Flu Vax… As the autumn leaves start to fall, it is a timely
reminder that winter is on its way. You may envisage sitting by a cosy warm
fire with a glass of red but did you think about a week off work in bed with
the flu?
Yes the flu season is upon us and the Bush Nursing Centre is awaiting
arrival of Flu vaccinations. Once again we will be running flu vaccination
clinics so watch out for the flyers or call us at the centre on 55701304.

PLANNED ACTIVITY GROUP news
Fun, games and some important milestones marked
as we complete one third of the Calendar year.
Monday 2nd
of March we headed out to Melville Park Hereford Stud
to see the Bull Sale in action. Special thank you to Olwyn and
David for making us feel so welcome. After watching the bulls sold
we had a walk around the immaculate garden, with lots of different
canna’s flowering and more. Everyone was presented with two
Hereford biros to remember our trip to Melville Park, before
heading back to Balmoral.
At the Wimmera Machinery Field Days, there was lots to see and
buy. Instead of walking all the time we used the free ‘Site Explorer
Bus’ to hop on and hop off during the day, and return us to gate 2
where our bus was parked. We were able to use some of the time
to search for ideas and equipment for the Men’s shed.
We headed to Portland to see the Pacific Pearl cruise ship in port,
we had a great view of the ship from different places around the
Port area. The weather was excellent (No wind) so we enjoyed fish
and chips on the foreshore and were able to feed the seagulls with
the extra chips we couldn’t eat. After lunch we visited Vern
McCallum’s gallery at Allestree. Photographs of Portland and
district have been restored dating from 1857. Vern has about
15,500 pictures in his collection; he has been restoring old photos
of the district since the late 1960s all photos are scanned into the
computer, for safe keeping. Mounted pictures from the past are
available to buy, Vern is always on the lookout for pictures from the
past, to scan and add to his collection.
St Patricks Day with a touch of Green, Country Music a visit to the
School and a trip to Hamilton to see the Movie Second Best Exotic
Marigold Hotel will finish the month’s activities.

There is much more to tai chi than one can see, and virtually no one can describe such a complex art in one simple sentence. Yes, it's aesthetically pleasing, and enjoyable to practice. It can be a meditation, an integral exercise for all parts of the body and the mind.
Although tai chi is a gentle exercise for the entire body, it represents much more. The flowing movements of tai chi containing much inner strength, like water flowing in a river, beneath the tranquil surface there is a current with immense power—the power for healing and wellness. Almost any set of tai chi has all that is needed to develop your internal energy and health and bring your tai chi to as high a level as you wish.
With consistent practice, people will be able to feel the internal energy (qi in Chinese), converting it to
internal force (jing) and use it to generate more internal energy. It would lead to clarity of mind,
balanced mental state, fitness, agility, good control of body balance. The unique feature of tai chi is
means building the inner strength from within the body.

news EARLY LEARNING CENTRE
This month at the Balmoral Early Learning Centre....
We have been practising our evacuation drills over the past couple of months. We sat down and explained to the children what was going to happened and then we practised
before we did the real drill. After we did our drill, many of the children did their own evacuation drill using different items around the room. Children make connections
between concepts and processes.—Learning
The children have been loving picking the cherry tomatoes off our tomato bushes
and eating them. Children explore the world with their sensory capabilities.—
Wellbeing
Many of the children have been having an interest in the baby dolls. They have been taking care of them by walking around the room with them in the prams, feeding them and tucking them up
in their beds. Children are learning to interact with others with care.—Identity
If you are interested in booking your
child into care please give me a call
on 0448 980 027.
