THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

We’re expecting a special visitor! On Monday 16th October, Milly the PAT (Pets As Therapy) dog will be coming into school. Pets As Therapy is a national charity providing therapeutic animal visits. Milly is a friendly, temperament tested, vaccinated dog. She regularly comes into school to meet the children and her visits are lots of fun and beneficial to the children. If there is any reason you do not wish your child to come into contact with Milly, please let us know.

SPONSORED WALK REMINDER — THURSDAY 19 OCTOBER 2017

Today we have sent home sponsored walk consent forms. Please return your child’s form to school on Monday, all children must have signed permission in order to participate. Please ensure that your child wears comfortable footwear. Trainers and jogging bottoms with the usual school sweatshirt or red jumper are ideal. It is essential that your child has a warm waterproof coat for the walk. All children will be eating a packed lunch in the Town Park. if your child is in receipt of free/universal school meals one will be provided. Children who normally bring sandwiches or pay for a dinner will need to bring a packed lunch from home. Sponsor forms should be sent into school on the day please. Please will you do your best to help your child collect as many sponsors as possible as the money we raise is a valuable boost to our school fund and benefits all children in school. Sponsor money can be paid via cash, cheque or via your ParentPay account.

We’re all looking forward to a fantastic day. Fingers crossed for sunshine!

COFFEE MORNING — Wednesday 18th October We hope you can join us for our Coffee Morning next Wednesday.

Drop in any time from 10.00am—12.00pm.

We will be sampling some sweet Diwali treats! We look forward to seeing you.

OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD / SHOEBOX APPEAL We are supporting Operation Christmas Child and would like to ask for your help and support.

This year we have pre-ordered empty shoe boxes, which we will be displaying in the shape of a Christmas tree. We are inviting staff, children and their families to donate 50p each to take a pre-printed box home to fill. Filled shoeboxes are to be returned to school and they will be sent to children across the world who would otherwise not have anything at Christmas due to war, poverty or famine. If you would like to take a box home, please bring 50p when you come to your child’s consultation meeting next week. Alternatively, please send 50p into school in a marked envelope and we will send a box home with your child.

Everyone in school is very excited by this project and we are relying on your help to make it a success. Further information, including lists of acceptable gifts etc. will be included in the box.

Thank you for your kind support.

Flu Vaccinations We are still missing a few reply slips from Parents/Carers about the flu vaccinations. If you haven’t returned your form and you would like you child to have the flu vaccination, your form must be sent into school on Monday morning. All children from Reception to Year 4 are eligible to have the free vaccination. Nurses will be visiting as below: Mon 16th Oct Haughton School main site Fri 20th Oct The Base site The vaccine is a quick and simple spray up the nose and all children will of course be accompanied by staff from their class team.

We are Looking for New Parent Governors This week we have sent home letters about two parent governor vacancies. Being a governor will give you the opportunity to help shape and guide the progress of Haughton School. We are especially looking for people with any of the following skills: financial, ICT, statistical, analytical or strategic. If you wish to stand as a candidate, please return your paperwork to school by 3.30pm on Thursday 19th October Thank you.

AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS

After School Clubs will be starting after half term and letters will be sent home with

children next week.
