Snow Ordinance With winter weather and snow season upon us, the City of Crown Point is urging citizens to abide by the existing snow ordinance:

• The owner of any motor vehicle, trailer, or equipment who has a driveway or other parking area not part of city right-of-way shall remove said motor vehicle, trailer, or equipment from any public street or roadway after an accumulation of TWO or more inches of snow until said roadway is cleared.

• Any vehicle, trailer, or equipment parked on a public street or road-way, when the depth of snow thereon is TWO inches or more, shall be subject to towing.

• It is unlawful for any person to push, shovel, throw, blow, or by any other means move snow from a private property, sidewalk, parkway, or other area to any public street.

Garbage and Recycling in Crown Point

Garbage & Recycling Services in Crown Point are weekly on Wednesdays. If a holiday falls on or before Wednesday, the garbage & recycling will be collected the following day.

All residents have received a 96-gallon garbage can at no charge. If you have questions regarding this new program, please call 219-662-3252.

The City of Crown Point also offers free 96-gallon recycle bins to our residents. To request a recycle bin please contact the Mayor’s Office at 219-662-3240.

Christmas Tree Disposal:

The City of Crown Point will collect real Christmas trees after the holiday. Please place your trees in the parkway. If you would like to dispose of your tree yourself, you may drop them off in the designated area at the Lake County Fairgrounds to be burned.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we will not have a gathering for the

tree burning this year.

Class Cancellation Crown Point Parks and Recreation Dept. reserves the right to make revisions that will allow a program to run or to cancel if necessary. Weather dependent programs and events may also be canceled or

Residents (includes age 55 and up) can visit the Sparta Dome (1355 E. North Street) to get their 2021 inside the dome walking passes. Residents need to bring
