Some of the toys that were donated to peads and maternity ward.

Katelyn Smith CSO Occupational Therapist showing kids in peads ward how to use ball and cup toy.

A toy project was hosted in Arcadia old age home where the Occupational Therapist taught the residents how to make cost effec-tive toys from recy-clable materials. For the past 3 months, groups were held at the old age home and the following

toys were made : ball and cup, pick up sticks, shakers, threading toys, stilts, beanbags and skittles and paper match balls. These toys were handed over to the paediatric and maternity ward to distribute to needy patients. The aim was to show the community that play doesn’t have to be expensive. Some residents from Arcadia joined us for the play date at the hospital and were able to see where the toys they made will be distributed. Children from peads excited

to receive toys to play with in the ward and to take home with them. The play date was enjoyed by all who attended, young and old. The nurses found information they received beneficial.
