Dashboards and Saddlebags the Destination Magazine™ is the guide for finding unique destinations in your own back yard. Even if you can when Lake Norman was cows and not carp, you’ll find destinations here that will have you saying “I never knew that was there.” Lisa and I are very selective of our marketing partners as well as our editorial content. If we cannot be proud of the content submitted to us we will not put it in Dashboards and Saddlebags Magazine, period. So, if you are looking for new destinations to explore on your own, or ideas for things to do with friends and family you will find something new each month in your destination magazine.

10th Annual Wheels Through Time Raffle Bike!!!

Each year, the Wheels Through Time Museum sets out to

bring back to life a true piece of American motorcycle history to be raffled off each November as the museum’s annual fund raiser. This year’s machine -- the beautiful 1932 Harley-Davidson VL Flathead Bobber -- is a stunner, and will be taken home by one lucky winner during the museum’s final opening of 2012.

Countless hours of both passion and enjoyment went into the restoration of this beauty, and the craftsmanship and attention to detail is evident throughout. Rebuilt from the ground up by museum curator and founder, Dale Walksler, the ‘32 VL Bobber features Harley-Davidson’s 74 cubic inch side-valve powerplant equipped with a three speed transmission, and has all sorts of period accessory “extras”, including Flanders rubber-mounted risers and handlebars, very rare early HD keyswitches, cut down rear fender, bobber horn, and so much more. Finished in stunning black and copper with red striping, this bike overflows with attitude and personality. Truly a Real School motorcycle, built with real and authentic parts, this 1932 Harley-Davidson VL Bobber is ready for

the road... and it could be yours this November 2012!!!

Ticket specials are 1 ticket for $10 and 3 tickets for $20, and our best package gets you 7 tickets for $50, which includes a Free WTT T-shirt and DVD, or a 1-year subscription to American Iron Magazine (7 ticket packages only).

So be sure to order your tickets on-line at www.wheelsthroughtime.com today! Not only will you have a chance to win the 1932 Harley-Davidson VL Flathead Bobber, but you’ll be supporting the great cause of keeping America’s transporta-tion history up on two wheels for generations to come!

Remember, Wheels Through Time is a 501c3 Not-For-Profit institution, so all contributions to this years raffle fundraiser are tax-deductible, and help keep us “The Museum That Runs”!!!

“The most comprehensive way to learn where movies were made in North Carolina.”

--Lawrence Toppman, Charlotte Observer

The 160-plus entries in this travel guide are arranged geographically

and include information about what movies and television series were

fi lmed at each site.

GastoniaGastonia is 22 miles west of Charlotte The Carolina Speedway is on us 274 (Union Road). Piedmont Community Charter School is located at 119 East Second Street.

Gastonia, the second-largest city in the Charlotte area, has a nice

history of hosting the filming of classy television, indie, and feature projects. “Saint Maybe,” a Hallmark Hall of Fame adaptation of Raleigh native Anne Tyler’s novel, filmed in the downtown area; South and Main streets are all made up for the holidays in the early scenes. A few of the set dressings remain on the buildings across from the Gaston County Courthouse. The CBS miniseries “Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story” used the historic Gastonia Central Elementary School for classroom scenes and the offices and studios of Sun Records. “The Last Brickmaker in America,” starring Sidney Poitier in the title role, also filmed at the school, which is now Piedmont Community Charter School.

“Major Dad” star Gerald McRaney must really like the Gastonia area. Be-sides appearing in “Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story,” the Mississippi-born actor starred (with Tyne Daly and Alicia Silverstone) in “Shattered Dreams,” as well as in “Vestige of Honor.” Randy Travis, a native of nearby Marshville, appears in “Steel Chariots,” which filmed at the Carolina Speedway, where there’s racing every Friday night. “Steel Chariots” features real-life NASCAR drivers Jeff Gordon, Mark Martin, Rusty Wallace, and Benny Parsons.

CreditsShallow Hal (2001); “The Last Brickmaker in America” (CBS, 2001); The Rage: Carrie II (1999); “Shake, Rattle and Roll: An American Love Story” (CBS, 1999); Body Count (Showtime, 1998); “Saint Maybe” (Hallmark/CBS, 1998); “Steel Chariots” (Fox, 1997); “Shattered Dreams” (CBS, 1990); “Vestige of Honor” (CBS, 1990)

special effects and props. They are amazed at the realism and the intensity of the attraction. The high tech haunt incorporates the same equipment used by theme parks like Disney, and Universal Studios. Because the attraction is indoors, it allows the environment to be controlled; from lighting, to smells, and sounds everything is very realistic. Maybe even some ghost.

I f you bel ieve in ghost , the attraction is the prime location for Time Stoppers Paranormal. A group of ghost hunters, that have declared the fac i l i ty HAUNTED! Two years ago, the owners invited the paranormal investigative team into the attraction. Since then, the group has captured voice phenomenons, apparitions, and moving furniture. Therefore, everything you see and hear while visiting the attraction may not be of this world.

With all this going for Nightmare On Scales Street, the haunted attraction is definitely worth the trip. The attraction opens on, 5 October and runs through the weekend before Halloween. More information can be found on www.nosshauntedhouse.com, and visit us on Facebook at NOSShauntedhouse.
