ISSMA Solo & Ensemble Saturday, February 8, 2020 Plymouth High School Since this event happens in town, parents will be responsible for transporting their student to and from Plymouth High School to perform. Make sure to arrive 45 minutes before the performance time. Students will want the extra time to find their warm-up room, warm up, and find the performance room. Students should wear the uniform as outlined in the handbook. There is a section on the score sheet for attire, so please dress professionally. Lincoln Junior High is assigned rooms 215 and 217 on the second floor as warm-up and storage areas. Woodwinds should warm up in room 215. Brass should warm up in room 217. Percussion students will warm up in the band room (Studio 1). There will be no pianos or music stands provided in the warm-up rooms. Food and drinks are not allowed in these rooms. Student behavior in the past has been an issue at this contest. You must be quiet and respectful in the hallways. Playing of instruments is not allowed anywhere except in the assigned warm-up and performance rooms. Please do not play in the hall. Please plan on being in the warm-up room 30 minutes before your performance time in order to warm-up and tune. Be checking your performance room in case it gets off schedule. You must have the ORIGINAL copy of your music with all measures numbered. This is in addition to the copy of music you will be playing off of. The judge will not accept a photocopy. The penalty is one rating lower or disqualification. You will pick up your original music in the warm-up room and return it the same day. After you perform, the judge will tabulate your score and have his secretary give you a medal card. Take this card to the medal table outside of the cafeteria to exchange it for a medal. You will receive the score sheet the next school day. Please do not try to take or look at the score sheet before then. If your child is going to be performing around lunch time, you might want to consider sending extra money for a snack. The concessions are a fundraiser for Plymouth's band program. There are no tickets needed for audience members. Free admission. All students are expected to listen to at least one other performance during the day. When you enter a performance room, you may only do so IN BETWEEN performances when the hallway monitor allows you in. There are no rules on which type of performance they listen to. This is an excellent chance to hear musical performances on many different types of instruments on many different levels. Support your friends by watching their performance. There is much more to get out of this contest than just your performance! Lisa Wallyn Band Director [email protected] cell: 765-437-6155
