We Have Precepts

• “Rules or laws" of a culture inform and express themselves as "themes" which, in turn, shape and influence behaviors, attitudes and beliefs.

• Psalm 119:4 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.

• And in keep these precepts diligently we as God elect can shape and influence behaviors attitudes and beliefs of the world.


For Precept Must Be Upon Precept

• Isaiah 28:9-11King James Version (KJV)• 9 Whom shall he teach knowledge? and whom shall he

make to understand doctrine? them that are weaned from the milk, and drawn from the breasts.

• 10 For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little:

• 11 For with stammering lips and another tongue will he speak to this people.

So as we see it’s not about the tongue we speak. Yet, the Cultural Precepts that we get from the Recurring Themes and vice versa with those two.

• African Americans, as a group, are culturally complex. And one of the most complex part of our cultural has been the us of the literary aspect of the bible and it has played a part in our lives.

• Yet, people no piece of literature, sacred or secular, can be understood unless readers know some basic facts about the material. And I believe the Cultural Precepts & Recurring Themes can help. Certainly some foreknowledge of these two aspects will aid one in study our text.


Over Coming Evil With Good

• We will be dealing with how to over come evil with good on our google hangout today.
