ABBRIEVIATED HISTORY OF GAZA

The land of CANAAN was promised by the Lord to ABRAHAM in Genesis 17:1-8

HISTORY OF GAZA

Originally a Canaanite settlement, it came under the control of the ancient Egyptians for roughly 350 years;

Conquered by the Philistines, who made it one of the principal cities of their pentapolis in the 12th century BCE

Gaza fell to King David about 1000 BCE. The Book of Judges and the Book of Joshua make reference to Gaza. Joshua was born in Egypt and died in the land of Canaan makes an especial reference to the Gaza, giving lands of Philistia  (PHILISTINES) to the descendants of Abraham, TO THE TRIBE OF EPHRAIM, but later coming under the effective control and management of Judah, around 1240 BC. [2] (Judges 6:4, I Chron. 7:28)

MODERN GAZA

Although the first municipal council of Gaza was formed in 1893 under the chairmanship of Ali Khalil Shawa, modern mayorship began in 1906 with his son Said al-Shawa, who was appointed mayor by Ottoman authorities.[67] 

When World War I erupted in 1917, British forces were defeated by the Ottomans in the first and second Battle of Gaza. General Edmund Allenby, leading the Allied Forces, finally conquered Gaza in a third battle.[48]

colonial authority over former Ottoman territories to Great Britain and France; Gaza was included in the British Mandate of Palestine.[69]

The Jewish Quarter of Gaza was destroyed in the 1929 Palestine riots and most of Gaza's fifty Jewish families fled the city. In the 1930s and 1940s, Gaza underwent major expansion, with new neighborhoods, such as Rimal and Zeitoun being built along the coast, and the southern and eastern plains. Areas damaged in the riots also went through reconstruction. Most of the funding for these developments came from international organizations and missionary groups.[29]

1948 ISRAEL STATEHOOD As a result of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, Egypt obtained control of

Gaza and the surrounding area. Gaza's growing population was augmented by an influx of refugees fleeing nearby cities, towns and villages that were captured by Israel[citation needed].

From 1948 through 1959, Gaza was nominally under the jurisdiction of the All-Palestine Government, an entity established by the Arab League during the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, purportedly to provide a Palestinian government for Palestine.[70] However, the members of the Government were removed to Cairo, and had little or no influence over events in Gaza.[70] Egyptian occupation of the Gaza Strip was interrupted for four months during the 1956 Suez Crisis.[71]

Upon the withdrawal of Israeli forces, Egyptian president Gamal Abdel Nasser issued several reforms in Gaza, including the expansion of educational opportunities and civil services, provision of housing and the establishment of local security forces[citation needed]. As in Egypt, political activity in Gaza was severely curtailed, but the government-sponsored Arab National Union was established in place of the All-Palestine Government that Nasser abolished in 1959, which gave the city's citizens a greater voice in national politics[citation needed].

1967 SIX-DAY WAR

IN 1967, Israel was attacked by 6 ARAB NATIONS; Israel defeated them in 6 days

Gaza was thus occupied by Israel in the 1967 Six Day War after the defeat of a coalition of Arab armies. Under Israeli occupation, existing structures of administration in Gaza would be maintained and administrative tasks would continue to be executed by Palestinian civil servants. This was called the policy of "government but not administration.” But Arab resistance continued.

Organized armed struggle against Israel peaked between 1969 and 1971, but was largely crushed by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) under the command of Ariel Sharon.[72]

THE GOLAN HEIGHTS

Internationally recognized as SYRIAN TERRITORY, the Golan Heights has been occupied and administered by Israel since 1967.[1] It was captured during the 1967 Six-Day War, establishing the Purple Line.[11]

On 19 June 1967, the Israeli cabinet voted to return the Golan to Syria in exchange for a peace agreement. Such overtures were dismissed by the Arab world with the Khartoum Resolution on September 1, 1967.[12][13] 

In the aftermath of the 1973 Yom Kippur War, Israel agreed to return about 5% of the territory to Syrian civilian control. This part was incorporated into a demilitarised zone that runs along the ceasefire line and extends eastward. THIS STRIP IS UNDER THE MILITARY CONTROL OF UN PEACE KEEPING FORCES.

THE WEST BANK From 1517 to 1917 the West Bank was

part of the Ottoman Empire. Turkey, successor state to the Ottoman Empire, renounced its territorial claims in 1923 signing the Treaty of Lausanne and the area now called the West Bank became an integral part of the British Mandate for Palestine. During the Mandate period Britain had no right of sovereignty, which was held by the people under the mandate.[26]

 In 1947 the UN General Assembly recommended that the area that became the West Bank become part of a future Arab state, but this proposal was opposed by the Arab states at the time. In 1949, Jordan occupied the West Bank and subsequently annexed it.[citation needed

] However its claim was never recognized by the international community.[citation needed

BACK TO GAZA:THE OSLO ACCORDS OF 1993

Palestinian Authority[edit] In September 1993, leaders of Israel and the

PLO signed the Oslo Accords calling for Palestinian administration of the Gaza Strip and the West Bank town of Jericho, which was implemented in May 1994.

Israeli forces withdrew from Gaza, leaving a new Palestinian National Authority (PNA) to administer and police the city.[12] Led by Yasser Arafat, the PNA chose Gaza as its first provincial headquarters. The newly established Palestinian National Council held its inaugural session in Gaza in March 1996.[29]

2005 ISRAELI SETTLEMENTS WITHDRAW FROM GAZA

In 2005 the Israeli cabinet withdrew its military and settlements from the Gaza Strip including the Philadelphi Route, a narrow strip adjacent to the border with Egypt, as part of its unilateral disengagement plan.

Since the Palestinian organization, Hamas won a surprise victory in the Palestinian elections of 2006, it has been engaged in a violent power struggle with rival Palestinian organization Fatah.[76]

HAMAS TAKES CONTROL OF GAZA:THEY START TO FIRE MISSILES INTO ISRAEL

In 2007, Hamas overthrew Fatah forces in the Gaza Strip and Hamas members were dismissed from the PNA government in the West Bank in response. Currently, Hamas has de facto control of the city and Strip.[76]

 Israel bombarded Gaza and nearby cities in the Gaza Strip in an air and ground assault codenamed "Operation Summer Rains" with the aim to end continued Qassam rocket attacks launched by Hamas and Islamic Jihad, and to secure the release of an Israeli soldier captured by Palestinian militants.[77]

.[78] On December 27–28, 2008 Israel commenced air strikes against Gaza, codenamed "Operation Cast Lead".[79] Israel stated the strikes were in response to repetitive rocket and mortar attacks from the Gaza Strip into Israel since 2005, while the Palestinians stated that they were responding to Israel's military excursions and the blockade of the Gaza Strip.

By January 3, 2009, Israeli tanks and infantry were invading Gaza with air and naval support. Thirteen Israelis, including ten soldiers were killed, while, according to Palestinian sources, a total of more than 1,300 Palestinians were killed and 5,500 injured. In addition 4,000 buildings were destroyed and 20,000 damaged throughout the Gaza Strip.[80]

As of today, Israel has conducted 1,653 strikes into Gaza in response to Hamas’s 1,241 rockets launched from Gaza, which have killed one Israeli civilian. The Palestinian death toll now stands at 214. That means that for every 8 strikes carried out by Israel, one Gazan dies—a number which includes combatants.

HAMAS(KHALED MASHAL – LEADER)

Hamas (Arabic: حماس Ḥamās, "enthusiasm", an acronym of حركة المقاومة االسالمية Ḥarakat al-Muqāwamah al-ʾIslāmiyyah, "Islamic Resistance Movement") is a Palestinian Sunni Islamic[7]

 organization, with an associated military wing, the Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades,[8] in the Palestinian territories and elsewhere in the Middle East including Qatar.[9]

Hamas is designated as a terrorist organization by Israel, the United States,[11] Canada,[12] the European Union,[13][14] Jordan,[15] Egypt[16] and Japan.[17] In other states, however, including Iran, Russia,[18] Turkey,[19] China[20][21][22][23] and many Arab nations, it is not.

So, when UNRWA, the U.N. Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees, announced THAT IT HAD FOUND A CACHE OF 20 MISSILES BENEATH A U.N.-SPONSORED SCHOOL IN GAZA LAST WEEK, it was hard to credit the usual pro-Israeli line that depicts the U.N. agency as working hand-in-glove with Hamas. Yes, some U.N schools and other facilities have been used to teach hatred for the Jewish state, and for Hamas summer camps and the like. And yes, U.N. officials like Special Rapporteur for Palestine Richard Falk had a long history of making statements that left little doubt about where his sympathies lay. But Falk’s term as Special Rapporteur ended earlier this year, so it made sense that UNRWA might be turning over a new leaf.

ROCKET LAUNCHERS IN MOSQUES AND HOSPITALS

UNRWA FINDS ANOTHER ROCKET STOCKPILE IN GAZA SCHOOL UNRWA FINDS ANOTHER ROCKET STOCKPILE AT ONE OF ITS SCHOOLS IN GAZA, THE THIRD TIME SINCE THE BEGINNING OF OPERATION PROTECTIVE EDGE.

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) announced on Tuesday that another rocket stockpile has been found at one of its schools in Gaza, Breitbart reported.

This instance marks the third time since the beginning of OperationProtective Edge that a weapons arsenal has been found at an UNRWA school in Gaza.

UNRWA has yet to place blame on any individuals or organizations for placing the weapons stockpile within a children’s school. The UN body refused to do so on the past two previous occasions as well.

UNRWA spokesman Chris Gunness condemned those responsible for placing civilians in harm's way by storing the rockets at the school.

Israel's leaders said they were escalating the military campaign in Gaza and told the country to prepare for a prolonged operation, defying international demands for an immediate cease-fire after Hamas militants broke a Muslim holiday lull.

The military chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Benny Gantz, said Israel's assault on Gaza's Hamas rulers was being "intensified" after three weeks of fighting that have cost more than 1,100 lives.

THE PSALM 83 WAR, which was Israel against a small Islamic coalition, will result in Israeli victory.

1. World Wars I and II - Matthew 24:1-8In our view, WW1 and WW2 are considered part of the end times events as they are referenced in the Book of Matthew. The world wars are referred to as "nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom". While this might sound like a typical description of war, Dr. Arnold Fruchtenbaum notes that in the context of Jesus' day that this was a common Jewish idiom for "world wars". As we know, WW2 was considered by many historical authorities as simply a continuation of WW1. The significance of WW2 for Bible prophecy is that it provided the motivation for the Jews to re-establish a state for themselves fulfilling the prophecies of Ezekiel 20.

4. Psalm 83 war - Israel destroys surrounding enemies and reaches temporary "peace and safety" setting up

Stalemates in the Middle East peace process and other influences result in the fulfillment of the ancient prophecies in Psalm 83. Israel is forced to deal with the modern day terrorists and "Palestinians" who refuse to make peace with her. Jerusalem becomes an object of contention.

5. The Russian (Gog/Magog) Invasion of Israel - Ezekiel 38:1 - 39:16

The "Gog/Magog" war is another name for the Russian led invasion of Israel in the end times. The Bible predicted that Russia followed by her islamic allies will attempt to come from the north parts for a "spoil" but are soundly defeated when God suddenly intervenes for Israel. God states in Ezekiel 38-39 that he intervenes in order to sanctify his Holy name and as a result saves Israel from what would be certain destruction.

6. The One-World Government -  Daniel 7:23

In Daniel 7:23 we are given the exact sequence of the next three prophetic events in chronological order. Many people have missed this and as a result have misplaced other end times events. But the scriptures are clear that as a result of the defeat of Russia and her islamic allies in Ezekiel 38-39, a power vacuum will exist that will provide the perfect opportunity for the rise of a one world government.

7. The Ten Kingdoms - Daniel 7:24

After the formation of a one world government, the Bible is clear that the world government will split into ten "kingdoms" or regions. There are numerous high profile groups like the "Club of Rome" who have already broken the world down into ten regions. With the rise of the European Union, African Union, etc. we are slowly but surely seeing the prophetic puzzle pieces move into place for this prophecy to be fulfilled.

8. The Rise of the Antichrist -  Daniel 7:24; II Thessalonians 2:1-3

Once the world has been divided into ten regions, the "Antichrist" or "man of sin" will begin to rise. The Antichrist will be the most wicked man ever and will be indwelt by Satan himself during the Tribulation period. The Antichrist will be one part of the unholy satanic trinity of Satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet. It is likely the Antichrist will be revealed sometime shortly before the Tribulation period starts and before the signing of the covenant for seven years.

9. A Period of Peace and False Security –  I Thessalonians 5:1-3

The period of false peace will come upon to the world as the one world government and Antichrist arrive onto the world stage. The period of false peace and safety is used in I Thessalonians in reference to happening before the "Day of the Lord" which refers to the Tribulation period or the 70th week of Daniel.

rebuild the Temple?) -  Daniel 9:27; Isaiah 28:14-22; Acts 15:14??

The seven year covenant with the "many" is likely to be the event that formally allows Israel to gain permission to build the Third Temple. However, there is much debate about whether the Third Temple is built during the Tribulation period of before the Tribulation period. I believe that this is a detail that will have to be revealed when it happens. But it is the seven year covenant that will kick-off the Tribulation period. Some people have mistakenly thought that it was the rapture that started the Tribulation period, but this is simply not correct. It is the "confirming" of the covenant with many that starts the Tribulation period.

The Abomination of Desolation - Daniel 9:27; 2 Thes. 2:4; Matt. 24:15-16This event takes place at the middle of the Tribulation period when the Antichrist stands in the newly rebuilt Third Temple and proclaims that he is God on earth. This is the event in which Israel is specifically warned about and that when they see it happen to flee to the hills.

HOW TO PRAY FOR ISRAEL/JERUSALEM

Father God, remove the veil You have sovereignly placed over the eyes of Israel, that they would recognize Jesus as their Messiah. (2 Corinthians 3:14)

Cause the church to fulfill its commission to preach the Gospel to the whole world, so the full number of the Gentiles would come into the Kingdom. Then all Israel will be saved. (Romans 11:25-26)

We pray that You would remember your covenants and promises towards Israel, especially when others rise up against her to swallow her alive. When their wrath is kindled against her, the waters will not overwhelm her. God will not give her as prey to their teeth. (Psalm 124)

PRAYING FOR JERUSALEM/ISRAEL

Sanctify Your great name which has been profaned among the nations, which has been profaned in the midst of Israel. That nations shall know that the Lord is God, when He is sanctified in Israel before their eyes. Sprinkle the clean water of Your Word on Israel and cleanse her from her filthiness and from all her idols, including abortion and the occult. Give Israel a new heart, and put a new spirit within her. Remove her heart of stone and give her a heart of flesh that can respond to the Holy Spirit, and cause her to walk in Your statutes, keep Your commandments and do them. (Ezekiel 36:23-27)
