ISO, the International Organization for Standardization
ISO, the International Organization for Standardization, was founded in 1946 by delegates from 25 countries and started operations in 1947.
At the end of 2011, the number of national ISO members had risen to 163.
The organization is a vast network of national standards bodies from all regions of the world, served and supported by a Central Secretariat in Geneva with approximately 150 staff.
