My Journalism

• When writing my copy I wanted to represent the artist as being ‘the next big thing’ in the music industry. I also aimed to make him seem popular and relative to my audience. I wanted to represent as being interested in my chosen artist, and also aimed to include musical lexis in my copy. I also intended to create an informal, excitable and friendly mode of address towards the reader.

Evaluation of Front CoverThe fonts used were generally bold to grab the reader’s attention and formatted on top of the covers to ensure that the model was the key object which grabbed main attention

Firstly, the colour schemes which were generally used were colours such as Red and Black. These colours are stereotypically seen to be “masculine” colours as they are generally associated with being favoured amongst the male generation.

The connotations of the colours black and red are generally associated with passionate, strong, something which will provide energy and confidence to the audience. This is essential for how to grasp our reader’s attention by making an effective quote that is aimed towards are audience.

This is a catchy album name that also supports are audience theories which are males around the ages of 15-20. That makes the magazine seem more official and realistic

This is a column for our latest artists and I used the connotations of the colours black and red are generally associated with passionate, strong, something which will provide energy and confidence to the audience.

Evaluation of Contents Page

Burton’s classification of socially grouped audiences, and identify further subjective which identify more specific regions, which offer motives appropriate to my audience. For example, my target audience would have personal interest in, Music, celebrities, real life and other issues which would appeal to my target audience, and this idea would persuade readers to buy my magazines as it would personally appeal to their aspirations. The ethnic grouping of my audience will play a role in my choice of images and messages. The genre of music I am focusing on (Hip-Hop and R&B) mainly targets the black urban community.

Abraham Maslow suggests in his theory, that everyone has 8 basic needs; therefore if I target these needs I will have a greater chance of fulfilling my target audience’s requirements. In my case, the top two needs in Maslow’s hierarchy apply to my magazine, as humans feel as if they need to have self-esteem, confidence and a sense of achievement. It also relates to self- actualisation, as I will insure that my magazine includes that strategy which enables the reader to accept facts and creativity.

This main column on my contents page is the featured artist I used that relate towards my audience theory. Richard Dyer suggests that people will respond to a message if it offers them a positive outlook for the inadequacies of their own lives. In my case, my magazine will provide energy for those who feel exhaustion, by providing bold headings, with colour schemes that give of a sense of energy.

Evaluation of Double Page

Richard Dyer suggests that people will respond to a message if it offers them a positive outlook for the inadequacies of their own lives. In my case, my magazine will provide energy for those who feel exhaustion, by providing bold headings, with colour schemes that give of a sense of energy. It will also a sense of community for those who feel isolated, as I plan to produce a real life story for my double page spread, which can help the reader feel involved and can also, in some cases, relate to it through their own experiences. For example, if my real life story was to be based around Tragedy, there would be clear motives I could offer based on this theory such as clarity on facts and a community device as people who can relate to the story, might feel as if they are not alone.

I constructed this image to support my audience theory For example, my target audience would have personal interest in, Music, celebrities, real life and other issues which would appeal to my target audience, and this idea would persuade readers to buy my magazines as it would personally appeal to their aspirations. The ethnic grouping of my audience will play a role in my choice of images and messages. From Preliminary to Final Product

• Since my first preliminary work I have vastly improved skills and developed how a hip-hop magazine should look like. I am going to compare my preliminary front page with my final product. One way in which I have improved my knowledge of the conventions a front page should follow. With my final product the layout of my front page included one main image that had a great sub meaning towards are audience selection and a strong masthead to back it up.

My use of technologyIn Photoshop, you can use the Paint Tools to draw freehand and to create your own images and graphics. Photoshop’s paint tools consist of the Pencil tool, the Paintbrush, the Airbrush, and the Paint Bucket.

I used these tools to edit the photographs I took, removing any unwanted part of the photo, so the image consisted of exactly what I wanted. The ‘magic wand tool’.

I used this tool in order to add text to the page. If I needed to edit the text inserted, I used these options to do so. These allowed me to change the font style, with a choice of various font families, and also change the size, make it bold, italic, or underlined.

I used the paint tool to make my front page and double spread more colourful and eye catching the Paintbrush also draws, but rather than having a sharp edge, the edge is softer and slightly transparent:

A gradient is a fill consisting of two or more colours blending together. Here is a simple example of a gradient, beginning with white and ending with black:

My use of technology

This is my first camera shots taken that we decided as a group to not take due to each shot not having continuity with each other.

This is our final camera shots that we are going to use for my front cover, contents page and double page. Seeing these camera shots we can see that the continuity is the same through each shot.

My use of technologyIn order to create my blog I used Blogspot

In order to edit my existing posts I sued this option. To create a new entry, I simply clicked on the create a post option.

Once I clicked on the edit option I was able to make various changes to my copy in my post

Once I was happy with the copy my post contained I then pressed publish post which shows the final and finished post.

This shows what time and date I published my final post. I had to organise to date and time in chronological order to make the blog more efficient

My use of technology

This is slide share it enables you to upload your files and put them into scramble codes which you then put it onto your blogspot which rearranges them into a text file.

Page 13: Ismail evaluation

My use of technologySlideshare Blogspot•Slideshare has a lot of Pros and Cons for example it can upload presentations very effectively and it enables the user connect to channels, events and businesses.

•However there are a number of limitations on the service. Files cannot be larger than 20 MB, there are no sharing or privacy options, and the original presentations cannot be downloaded by the publisher or by viewers. I also was unable to edit the file after uploading (even though the feature exists, I could not make it save the changes properly).

•Blogspot has a lot of Pros and Cons for example the user can have the freedom of speech to conversations, share knowledge with other users, making friends online and can also be used as a diary.

•However there are some limitations as well for example need to constantly update otherwise you will lose your potential viewers and finally its easy to start but harder to maintain
