Hello, Brothers and Sisters, It’s that time of year again; standing in long lines, buying up all those presents, travelling, putting up the lights, “who’s making Christmas dinner?”! Christmas time can be stressful, but we must remember what Christmas is really all about. It’s a time for peace, love, and hope. As Linus Van Pelt once said, “Born this day in the City of David is a savior, Christ the Lord. Glory to God in the highest, and on Earth peace, good will toward men.” We, as children of God, are all one family. During this season of giving and good will, let us always remember those brothers and sisters who are in need. Reach out to a friend who hasn’t a family they can go to for Christmas. We must come together and heal. A house divided cannot stand. This year, I am asking the Council to serve 1 day at Our Daily Bread’s soup kitchen around Christmas. If anyone would like to do this, please let me know and I will place the info on Facebook. I would like to thank our Programs Director Steve Radziminski and his team on the hard work they have done this year. It’s been a challenging 1st half of the year, but this Council couldn’t function without them. Merry Christmas to all!

Protecting Widows – A Founding Goal

As a member of this council, you know how important spouses can be to the charitable works of the Order. If you’re married, your wife is probably involved in a few of the many events that happen each fraternal year. This support adds great value and impact to what a council can achieve.

When the Order was founded in 1882, Father Michael J. McGivney and the other brave men were setting out to protect Catholic families, but especially wives and children. Today, we remain committed to this mission by offering

The month of November started off strong with five men taking their 1st Degree at Bishop Sebastian Council on November 7, three of which belong to us, Matthew Wedin, Stephen Shock, and Chad Miller. On November 16, at Patapsco Council, Victor Bisignani and Matthew Wedin took their 2nd Degree and on November 18 Matthew Wedin took his 3rd Degree at Msgr. Kelly Council in Pasadena, Md. Andrew D"Agostino took his 3rd Degree at Havre De Grace Council in Aberdeen, Md. on November 4. The results of the membership drives at St. Isaac Jogues - November 5 and 6 - 5 names and phone numbers and St. Thomas More - November 19 and 20 - 2 names and phone numbers. We are now preparing the final membership drive at St. Clare on December 10 and 11. The Quota is 14 and we now have 8 for the fraternal year. With your continued help star council will be attainable. Carrying a form 100 or the 921A card helps tremendously.

We welcome all of our new Brother Knights who have recently joined our council. We are glad you are here, and

it is our hope that you will be an active member, first by attending all of the meetings, and then by working with

our directors in an area that interests you.

At our recent directors’ meeting, we reviewed lists of possible activities, some from the council that we do or

would like to do, and from the State Council with other possible activities. We need however, active participation

from all members, new and experienced.

We have recently opened a line of communication with Robin Norcross, who heads the blood drive at St. Isaac

Jogues. They made all of the quotas at the blood drive. The Council did some promotion, and the council was

thanked. Imagine what we could do with more help and promotion.

What we are saying is that the opportunities and possibilities are there. We need active Knights! Contact me at

On Sunday morning, November 20, 2016, the Brother Knights of Bishop Sebastian Council 5058 and the Daughters of Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton (DOSEAS) met at the Timonium Fairgrounds. Led by Brother Knight Thom Stevenson and his lovely wife, Patricia, they decorated two Christmas Trees for the Kennedy Krieger Institute's Festival of Trees to be held on November 25, 26, and 27, 2016 at the Fairgrounds. On Saturday, December 3, 2016 Knights Council 5058 will have a Food for Families Drive at the Parkville Giant from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Donations from the drive will be given to the food pantry of St. Isaac Jogues. On Sunday, December 4, 2016 the wrapping of gifts for the Annual Baltimore Arc Christmas party will take place at the Council Hall on Harford Road. The party itself will be held on Tuesday, December 6 at the Council Hall.

With the successful completion of the Incentive Car Raffle, the council activities calendar becomes quite full.

First up is the Council Christmas Party. The party will be held on Saturday December 17, 2016 at the council hall

from 7:00- 11:00 PM. The cost is $20.00 for Knights and spouses, $25.00 for other guests. Please contact Bob

Back by popular demand, and because they are not traveling this winter, Lou and Bev Lind will be hosting “Souper” Sunday on Sunday January 15, 2017 from 1:00 – 4:00 PM. The cost will be $10.00 per person. Come and sample the variety of soups that will be prepared. But reservations are a must, we will not be able to accept walk-ins. Children Liturgy of the Word (CLOW) St. Ursula’s Religious Education department provides refreshments after the 9:00 a.m. Mass on the 4th

Sunday of the month. We need your help with this ministry!!! Adopt-A-Family The Director of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Ursula Parish has been contacted regarding “adopting” a family in order for them to have a better Christmas. We are waiting for his response. Renewal of Vows (ROV) This event is scheduled to occur on 2/11/2017. The tentative format of this event is:

Attend the 5:00 p.m. Mass at St. Ursula Parish Have light meal and refreshments in the St. Ursula Spiritual Center

Family of the Month (FOM) The FOM certificates for the 2015-2016 fraternal year will be presented\distributed soon. We need your entries your input on the families within your Parishes you believe should be nominated for this honor. Official qualifications for nominating a family for this honor: The rules for Family of the Month are the member must be a member of the Knights in good standing and a member of the council. Forms have been received for non-members, but they are only put on our participating list and not eligible for the drawing. Only members are. If you have any questions on the qualifications for this honor and\or require the nomination form, please contact the Family Activities Director. Employment Assistance If you are seeking a job, please provide an updated resume on MS Word and a “Position Needed” form. This form will be provided per request. If you have a job to be advertised, please provide a “Position Wanted” form. These forms will be provided when requested.

Need for Co-Directors.

The need is great to have a Brother Knight to step up to be the Co-Director for the Parishes we serve. One Co-Director to represent the Parishes of St. Ursula, St. Issac Jogues, St. Thomas More and St. Clare will help our Council greatly.
