MORE [email protected]/tour770-656-6323

iSchool Initiative is a student led non-profit organization dedicated to revolutionizing America’s education system through innovative technology. We motivate both students and teachers to become lifelong digital learners by inspiring action, providing comprehensive training on the use of technology, and guiding educational institutions through technology deployment.

iSchool Initiative leads the Digital Learning Revolution (DLR) Tour. This movement is focused on building the right culture in schools to successfully use mobile technology in the classroom. We accomplish this through our DLR tour bus that travels to schools, conferences, and communities across America to showcase its vision of what a contemporary mobile learning environment can be.

PersonalizedLearning in its purest form should be focused on the individual inside of a flexible learning environment with multiple content delivery mediums for students and teachers alike.

CollaborativeTwo or more learners capitalizing on one another’s ideas, skills, and resources towards a common goal or problem can greatly enhance the learning process for all parties involved... including us.

DigitalOne of the most productive forms of learning is the practice of Find, Filter, and Apply. As a mountain of new information becomes available at the touch of a button, the importance of this concept continues to grow.

*While much of our PD is taught by students, we also incorporate many leading educators and administrators with decades of experiences in the classroom to provide training.

**See Article B to review some of the speakers we work with.

iSchool Initiative has experience providing professional development on mobile technology

for teachers, administrators and students for over 3 years. Through our observations as learners and presenters, we have identified best practices and

how to effectively use mobile devices in the classroom.

IPhase One:Teacher & Leadership Training

iSi Mobile facilitates district wide conferences, known as “iSi Affiliated Conferences” where teachers, leaders, and technical staff come together for a two day event of professional development. Technical staff will receive in-depth training on MDM, advanced device capabilities, and troubleshooting, separately from teacher training. iSi can have anywhere from 100 to 750 people attend this event. Our DLR Tour bus will be present at iSi Affiliated Conferences.

PEPRALLY & DLRTOUR

IIPhase Two:Student Training

iSchool Initiative provides a pep rally keynote at each school to the entire student body. Rally includes: music performance on mobile devices, app sharing, digital citizenship/responsibility, and inspirational ideas. iSi will bring our DLR Tour bus to each school to generate excitement and enthusiasm around the technology transformation. We believe that the percentage of students who bring their own devices will significantly increase after our professional development.

DIGITALSCAVENGERHUNTiSchool Initiative provides a school-wide activity for students to get them engaged and excited about using their mobile devices. The scavenger hunt will be competitive with prizes, include learning skills like taking notes, “find, filter, and apply”, basic functionality, and taking proper care of device.

The iSchool Advocate program is designed to inspire and empower students to become lifelong learners in the information age. Today, our youth are growing up in a complex world that often sees a huge gap between what they are taught in school and what they experience outside of the classroom. By creating a network of educators and students in each school, the iSchool Advocate program is preparing students with the skills needed to bridge that gap, and will find ways for students to coexist with the new reality of the ever changing world technology has brought about. Through an application process, iSchool Initiative will select a group of student leaders to help advocate this change. These individuals will be trained as role models who assist their community and schools in adopting mobile technology effectively. Once invited to the iSchool Advocate mentorship program, these students will work directly with us in helping their school change the face of education and pursue their futures endeavors.

APPS4iSCHOOL

Phase Three:Virtual Training

Apps4iSchool is currently available on iOS devices for select school districts that we work with. It is an interactive app that allows teachers to filter the right apps for their classroom. For example, you can search for: iPad only apps, free, 9th grade, science apps, and then select what apps align with different common core standards to easily find the right tool for the job. In addition to this, each app listing contains instructional value on how to effectively use the app in the classroom.

WEBINARSiSchool Initiative provides monthly webinars for teachers and administrators on a variety of topics, such as: Flipped Classroom, Digital Citizenship, App Sharing sessions, etc. Each webinar has a different featured speaker that ranging from TED conference speakers, to star teachers in the classroom.

iSchool Initiative’s Professional development content will be available for your district virtually. Through one of our partners, we provide downloadable content to any device that comprises of documents, videos, and audio information on various subjects. We also provide tutorials and online assessment tools for teachers to access at their convenience. These courses supplement our PD services by providing valuable instructional content in an easy-to-use format that is interactive and multimedia rich.

VIDEOPRODUCTIONiSchool Initiative creates exciting videos for school districts that are shared with parents and the community. These videos encourage parents to become more involved, attend schools events, and learn more about the mobile learning initiative in their district.

Parent support is vital to have a successful deployment of mobile devices. Our DLR Tour visits communities and schools to offer parents a better understanding of how their children’s education is changing. These events include additional keynotes and panel discussions to address common parental concerns. Turning a student into a life long mobile learner requires a network of support both from the school and from home. When parents are reinforcing your mobile initiative, the results will continue to thrive.

TESTIMONIALS

Having the opportunity to work with the iSchool Initiative team was the perfect way to underscore the district’s vision for the role of technology. The knowledge, expertise, and enthusiasm of Travis Allen, and the entire iSchool team, were at the core of our Emerging Technology Conference. Showcasing the prevalent role of authentic student engagement that can be realized through the effective integration of mobile technology into classroom instruction, is a major strength of the iSchool team. We are excited about our partnership with iSchool, as well as possible future opportunities with their new venture iSi Mobile, and are looking forward to their next visit.

ELIZABETHKOHUT

iSchool Initiative helped our school system begin the implementation of our BYOT pilot program this spring. Next fall, every district middle and high school will have BYOT. Our administrators were far more prepared to move this forward after iSchool Initiative presented to our Leadership Team. I would recommend to any school administrator that is serious about 21st Century Learning to invite iSchool Initiative to your school or to your system for a presentation on the power of digital learning.

DR.JEFFBEARDEN

Travis talks to teachers as if he has been doing it for a decade - he is comfortable, funny, and loaded with insights on how mobile technologies can be of value in an educational setting. His session on iPads drew a packed house in a large auditorium, and people were buzzing about the ideas as they left.
