Schematic Plan
Visual Aspects
The approach to the bus terminus from the Wazirabad road. There is a marked absence of good signages ,though it is mentioned that this is the entrance for buses only, two wheelers also enter the premises at times due to confusion.
Due to lack of proper Auto stands, autorickshaws are sometimes parked near entrance causing hindrance to traffic flow and pedestrian movement, which is not visually appealing.
Due to lack of access to daylight ,the waiting hall remains dark even in the daytime. Though the space is huge, the visual appeal is lacking.
Positive aspects• It is located at the intersection of NH-24 & NH-28
,which makes the terminus easier to approach by road.
• Due to the construction of a flyover to Shahdara, the access has become easy with reduced traffic jams.
• Different circulation spaces for diff. type of vehicles.• Provision of refreshment joints.• Provision of a waiting area with a large capacity
of seating with proper display to navigate the occupants.
• Well connected to other parts of the city by a network of metro, prepaid taxis / autos & local buses.
• Disable friendly, ramps provided.
Positive aspects•Provision of Ticket counters at the waiting area•The staff area and the passenger area are at different floors.•Provision of a workshop.•Presence of overhead foot bridges.•Police control room.•The local buses coming from the western side of the bus stand come enter and exit from the same side
Negative Aspects
• No re-fuelling stations.• Public urinals at the main pedestrian entrance,
creates an unwelcoming environment.• Signage problems-The lack of proper signage is a
noticeable & negative aspect of this ISBT.Being the oldest ISBT in Delhi, there should be proper signage. The lack of signage makes it difficult for passengers while boarding the buses to longer destinations.
• Same entrance for the staff and the visitors.
