Brazil Immersion

After many months of meticulously planning and preparing for our

Brazilian immersion trip, one can imagine the disappointment my

group felt as we discovered that our flight to São Paulo, Brazil had

been cancelled. However, after 65 hours of traveling, we arrived in

Brazil eager and ready to be immersed in the beautiful culture that

surrounded us. On our first day in Brazil, we had the opportunity to

spend the day at CECOIA. We were greeted by children, teens, and

adults who were very excited to have us there. Being of Portugese

descent, I am able to speak a bassic level of Portugese. I was so

happy to be able to practice my portuguese with people my own age

and learn new words and phrases. During our time at CECOIA, we

joined the children in various activities and games such as dancing,

soccer, musical chairs, and much more. We met teenagers our age

who spoke English very well. It was amazing to see how much we

had in common even though we lived so far apart. After the festivities,

we shared a meal with the CECOIA students and staff. After eating

only food from the airport for three days, we were so incredibly

appreciative of the magnificent meal we shared. The experience as a

whole was so culturally enriching and I will forever treasure the

memories and friends I have made.
