Is Steve Rudd Exodus Calendar Wrong? October 2014 by OP Armstrong 1 There appear to be issues with some of Mr. Steve Rudd’s Exodus concepts. For example: 1) Is it correct to propose a calendar that is not recognized by Hebrew or other calendar authorities ? (N.B. on page 5) 2) Is Nissan 15 of 1446BC Gregorian or Julian a Friday by any other calendar than Steve Rudd ? 3) Did the Hebrew Exodus, camp or ‘pitch’ at location Migdol before proceeding to Etham ? 4) Was the Sabbath rest or end day, first propounded in the book of Exodus ? 5) Were Hebrew month counts exclusive to the Exodus time frame? 6) Would the Sinai Peninsula be so named if Mount Sinai were not there? If the answers to these questions are NO, as this review finds, then there are issues with the Rudd Exodus theory. This writer is not the only one to take issue with Mr. Rudd’s proposals. Considerations on these issues are detailed in order by this discussion. Lastly, a brief expose of a more plausible concept is given. First a general review of calendars, moon phases and the Solar Year length. As stated in Genesis, the greater and lesser lights are for days, years, and seasons. Is Rudd Wrong about Exodus ? A calendar is simply a routine to understand the seasons. From civilization’s dawn every culture have understood autumn and spring moons. By time of the Hebrew exodus, Egyptian calendars had evolved over 1500 plus years. These details are available on wiki. The Egyptian calendar of Moses time was 12 lunar cycles of 30 days. There are about 29.5 average days per year to 12 lunar cycles. The Egyptian calendar of Moses era (12 months of 30 days each with 5 intercalated each year), was eventually adapted by Julius Caesar. It evolved to the Gregorian civil calendar as now used. Rudd’s theory of a 28 day calendar fails scrutiny of evidence for either lunar cycles, or historical review. The Egyptians of Moses time are reported to have used 3 weeks of 10 days for each month. The Egyptian year was divided into 3 seasons, flood, growth, & harvest. Each season is about four lunations. The Hebrew calendar was given in lunations adjusted for local harvest season. A calculated Hebrew calendar should be a good approximation to an observational calendar. Passover averages to happen on Saturday about 1 in 10 years. For Rudd’s selected year Niss15 fell either Saturday or Thursday but not Friday as Rudd claims by his 28 day per month calendar.

There appear to be issues with some of Mr. SteveRudd’s Exodus concepts. For example:1) Is it correct to propose a calendar that is not

recognized by Hebrew or other calendarauthorities? (N.B. on page 5)

2) Is Nissan 15 of 1446BC Gregorian or Julian aFriday by any other calendar than Steve Rudd?

3) Did the Hebrew Exodus, camp or ‘pitch’ atlocation Migdol before proceeding to Etham?

4) Was the Sabbath rest or end day, firstpropounded in the book of Exodus?

5) Were Hebrew month counts exclusive to theExodus time frame?

6) Would the Sinai Peninsula be so named if MountSinai were not there?

If the answers to these questions are NO, as thisreview finds, then there are issues with the RuddExodus theory. This writer is not the only one to takeissue with Mr. Rudd’s proposals. Considerations onthese issues are detailed in order by this discussion.Lastly, a brief expose of a more plausible concept isgiven.First a general review of calendars, moon phases andthe Solar Year length. As stated in Genesis, thegreater and lesser lights are for days, years, andseasons.

Is Rudd Wrong about Exodus ?

A calendar is simply a routine to understand theseasons. From civilization’s dawn every culture haveunderstood autumn and spring moons. By time ofthe Hebrew exodus, Egyptian calendars had evolvedover 1500 plus years. These details are available onwiki. The Egyptian calendar of Moses time was 12lunar cycles of 30 days. There are about 29.5 averagedays per year to 12 lunar cycles. The Egyptiancalendar of Moses era (12 months of 30 days eachwith 5 intercalated each year), was eventuallyadapted by Julius Caesar. It evolved to the Gregoriancivil calendar as now used. Rudd’s theory of a 28 daycalendar fails scrutiny of evidence for either lunarcycles, or historical review. The Egyptians of Mosestime are reported to have used 3 weeks of 10 daysfor each month. The Egyptian year was divided into 3seasons, flood, growth, & harvest. Each season isabout four lunations. The Hebrew calendar wasgiven in lunations adjusted for local harvest season.A calculated Hebrew calendar should be a goodapproximation to an observational calendar.Passover averages to happen on Saturday about 1 in10 years. The Gregorian BCE calculator calendar includes ayear zero. So calculator 1446 BCE Julian, is 1445BCGregorian. The year 1446BC Gregorian is 1447BCEJulian. This confusion is avoided by use of Julian DayNumber (JDN). Each JDN has a unique week day. AsRudd does not mention a JDN, it is necessary to runboth calendars and compare day of week & monthto bible travel days. This review finds that neither1446BC.G nor 1446BCE.J corresponded to Rudd’scalendar week days. Mr. Rudd invented a 28 daycalendar to make 1446 Exodus year work with someJewish Holy days and his travel times. However it isnot plausible that Moses would give the Law of noanimal travel on Sabbath, and yet leave on aSabbath. Neither is it plausible to travel on the 21st

day of Nissan as that was also declared a Holy Day.Rudd on the other hand overlooks this and has norest day for the 21st day of Nissan, Feast ofUnleavened Bread.A calculator year 1462BC Gregorian (1463BCE Julian)departure on Nissan 15th (JD# 1187153.5, Thursday)works perfectly well for all prescribed Jewish Holydays of Moses. These days are compared in thefollowing 3 Tables. The first Table gives location andrest days for the specified, pitch or camp days ofNumbers 33.

Is Rudd Wrong about Exodus ?

Another problem with Rudd’s 28 day calendar is thecount of Solar years from Exodus Sea Baptism untoNoah will not count correctly unto Noah Baptismend. The basis of Mr. Rudd’s 28 day months is afabrication of bible historical record with noreconciliation to any other calendar system.A Monday, Niss26, 1463BCE.J Exodus Sea Baptismgives a correct Julian day count unto SaturdayTish17, JD865183.5. TBC calendar study finds that on9 September, 2345BCE.G, Noah’s Ark came to rest onMount Ararat. This completed Noah’s baptism, inNoah’s 600th Year. The bible scripture clearly prescribes 150 dayscorresponds to five months. This averages to a 30day month for that 150 day period. In Noah’s 600th

year, the 2nd month and the 17th day the floodwindows opened, Gen7.11. Then the flood watersprevailed upon the earth for 150 days (Gen7.24 &8:3). At end of this 5 months, on the 7th month, the17th day in Noah’s 600 year, the ark came to restatop Mt. Ararat, Gen8:4. These verses do notprescribe a 360 day year as some have presumed. Inthese specified 5 months there are 150 days. Thenumber of days to the remaining months in the yearby these verses are not stated nor specified.

2. As seen in below Table, Rudd’s calendar app of 28days per month yields some radically different resultsfrom regular calendar results. Rudd’s 1446BC Nissan15 and Lyyar 1 both fall on Friday, Row A. Howeverneither a Gregorian nor a Julian dated year of 1446,agree with the Rudd calendar day of week for 1446.In conclusion, the Rudd calendar and sequence ofevents for the Exodus are dodgy at best, more surelyto be just plain wrong. Thus the Rudd work shouldbe viewed with suspicion. Also included, Row D, is what is considered as a morelikely Exodus year of 1463BC Gregorian, 1187169.5Julian day number.3. By reading book of Numbers: And they removedfrom Etham, … and they pitched before Migdol. ButRudd has them arrive at Etham on “Lyar 1” fromMigdol on the Prior day, which he calls Nissan 28?

Rudd Is Wrong About Exodus ?

3b. Again not in agreement with the chronology ofNumbers 33.4. Here are many references showing the Sabbathrest or end day, is not first propounded in the bookof Exodus.5. By a study of Noah in Genesis it does not seemthat Hebrew month counts to be exclusive to theExodus time frame.6. By this writer’s guess the Sinai Peninsula of Egyptwould not be so named if Mount Sinai were notlocated there. This writer is inclined to concur theolder exodus routes that place the sea crossingtowards the Suez canal. There is little to eliminatesome of Rudd’s Exodus routes, but Mt. Sinai location.Could the basis of ancient iron wheels found in redsea not also be from a sunken ship of the Exodusera?

The above Table is what seems a more likely sequence of movements and the calculated days by calendarprogram for the first 3 months of exodus. The Sea crossing is completed on 26 Nissan, Monday, G1462BC.These Julian day numbers correspond to the time differences between Baptism of Jesus and the Baptismdate of Noah. Those day numbers are detailed in the chronology table, Chronology by Prophecy.Note: NB! Calendar programs i.e.; Kalendis, et-al, & Fourmilab.ch have opted to present Gregorian years as being in negative terms with a yearzero. This makes the Program Gregorian Years be 1 year early. (ie 4000BC Gregorian program is 4001BC Julian program. The Julian year BCdate correspond to the conventional Gregorian BC year date that has no year zero. Such confusion is avoided if one also specifies or uses bothJulian Day number and year date. Some prefer to specify Julian dates & that is normally the same gregorian year & weekday but slightlydifferent month dates. Draft removed after getting no reply from either Steve Rudd nor his organization.

The Balfour Century, TBC, view looks at the bible as but a love story of God seekingreconciliation with His lost friend, Adam & his offspring. The information outside of aredemption narrative, man’s return back to God, is irrelative by this context. The 7000 years (6work days and 1 rest day) of determined new creation time, starts from the fall of man andends with earth’s complete restoration. At which point death is swallowed in victory. This iswhen Christ cast the source of man’s fall, Satan and sin, into everlasting fire for all Eternity. For the Anno Mundi, (AM), year of 4004BC, accepted by many Evangelical’s, Y6k was reachedin 1997. Those who look outside a redemption narrative cannot reconcile their work with the 7day re-creation idea. For this means earth is now in the millennial Sabbath rest. Such a rest isnot compatible with the wars & other grief seen today on a regular basis. Actually many haverecognized this flaw since around 1995 and suggested various alternatives. For Jesus Baptism on 29Sept26AD, Y6k, Luke16:16, is 2026AD & Y6k’ with 3.5 year postponementis 07Aug2023AD. TBC ethos looks at the start of the redemption era as dealing with fallen man. Thus Adam’s sin is taken to have happened G29Sep3974BC (4k years before Christ Baptism). This means Adam started his reign of sin & death at about age 27, for an AM of G4001BC. Ifearlier creation dates of Adam are considered, then a corresponding increase in Adam’s age atstart of sin would follow. For any A.M. date one must consider age of accountability, thatAdam’s offspring must begin after original sin, for by one sin entered all.The 7 days of determined time as viewed here, are the 7 days unto restoration from man’s fallby sin unto final redemption when Satan is Eternally bound and start of a new heaven and newearth, 29Sep3026AD. For the record, the gapped creation theory seems more plausible. Thegapped creation is well explained by C Larkin’s charts.
