Questions we had

• Is it made of cells?• Does it react to its environment?• Does it reproduce?• Does it grow?• Does it release Carbon Dioxide?

Page 3: Is it alive lab

How did we answer the questions?• Attempted to look for cells under microscope• Created different environments:• Freshwater (Animals• Saltwater (Animals)• Soil (Plants, Fungus)

• We couldn’t confirm any reproduction• Observed it in its environments• We used bromothymol blue to test for CO2

Page 4: Is it alive lab

Carbon Dioxide Results• We found out that it releases CO2

Page 5: Is it alive lab

Results- Cells• Not enough data for conclusive statement

Page 6: Is it alive lab

Results- Saltwater• The substance had no change in saltwater

Page 7: Is it alive lab

Results- Soil

•The substance had no change in soil

Page 8: Is it alive lab

Results- Freshwater• Substance changed in freshwater

Tools

•We used:•Microscope•Camera•SD Card•PowerPoint•Slide Share

Page 10: Is it alive lab

Conclusion• Alive• Because we noticed growth only in freshwater• Gave off CO2 which is a sign of chemical energy

Info Learned

•We learnt that bromothymal blue is an indicator of CO2• How cells look• How to stain an slide• How to make a wet slide• How to use a microscope

Questions remained unanswered•We don’t know whether it reproduced•Don’t know whether it has cells
