0. FOREWORD

0.1 This Indian Standard was adopted by the Indian Standards Institution on 27 December 1966, after the draft finalized by the Marine Engineering and Shipbuilding Sectional Committee had been approved by the Mechani- cal Engineering Division Council.

0.2 An anchor is designated by its nominal weight, The dimensions of the anchor and,its component parts depend upon the nominal weight and the design features of the anchor. The dimensions of the stock and single fluke stock anchors are same except that nominal weight of the single fluke type is 80 percent of the double fluke type.

0.3 This standard is one of a series of Indian Standards on anchors. Other standards in this series are:

0.4 In the preparation of this standard, assistance has been derived from the following:

1. SCOPE

1.1 This standard specifies the dimensions and material for stock and single fluke,stock anchors ( for harbour use 1.

.2. TERMINOLOGY

2.1 For the purpose of this standard, the definitions given in IS : 3267-1966* shall apply.

3. DIMENSIONS AND WEIGHT

3.1 Weight and dimensions for stock and single fluke stock anchors ( for harbour use ) and their various components shall be as given in Tables 1 and 2. All the dimensions are based on the basic dimension A = S = 22.7 +Yi-c, where G is nominal weight of stock anchor.

3.1.1 The weight and dimensions for stock anchors, single fluke stock anchors and anchor shackles shall be as given in Table 1 (see P 7 ) read with Fig. 1 and 2.

3.1.2 The weight and dimensions for stock together with its locking arrangement shall be as given in Table 2 ( see P 7 ) read with Fig. 3.

3.2 The dimensions of various parts of stock and single fluke stock anchor or ar

. The variation of any dimension from the specified value shall not exceed 20 mm.

3.3 Machining tolerances shall conform to coarse series of IS : 2 102- 1962*.

3.4 The weight of different components shall not vary by more than 5 per- cent from the specified value of the weight of these components, provided the total weight of anchor is not less than the nominal weight given in Tables 1 and 2.

4. MATERIAL FOR CONSTRUCTION

4.1 The material for the construction of stock anchors, single fluke stock anchors and their various components shall be as specified in IS : 3267-1966t.

4.2 The material for washer, cotter and lifting shackle shall be Grade 2 forged steel conforming to IS : 326 I- 1966. or &st steel conforming to IS : 2985- 1964t.

4.3 The chain and split pin shall be of mild steel and of suitable size in proportion to that of washer and cotter.

5. TESTS

5.1 Stock anchors and single fluke stock anchors shall be tested according to the tests given in IS : 3267-1966$.
