Ivoclar Vivadents patented lithium disilicate material is

truly a revolution for the dental industry.

Never before has a material been able to combine high

strength, high esthetics and ease of use into one

    product, until now.

    Lithium disilicate (LS2)

    IPS e.max lithium disilicate material

    exhibit superior durability featuring 360-

    400 MPa of flexural strength.

    When fabricated to full-contour, the

monolithic structure is the most robust

    ceramic crown tested to date.

    360-400 MPaof flexural strength.

Why lithium disilicate (LS2) for single-unit restorations?

    - Lithium disilicate combines high strength and high esthetics

    - Broad indication range because of the high strength of 360-400 MPa

    - depending upon on the indication Lithium disilicate offers flexibility

    when it comes to cementation

    - Various translucency levels and a comprehensive shade range allow

    versatile esthetic options

    Objective:

To evaluate the effect of on mouth-motion-step-stress-fatigue onreliability and failure modes of monolithic lithium disilicate full crowns

(IPS e.max CAD) and to compare these results with hand-layer veneered

    Y-TZP based crowns (IPS e.max ZirCAD/Ceram).

    Shade Taking

Optimum integration in the oral cavity of the patient is the prerequisite for a

    true-to-nature all-ceramic restoration.

The overall esthetic result of an all-ceramic restoration is influenced by the

    - Ideally suitable for indications, that require high strength, such as

    anterior and posterior (widespan) bridges

    - frameworks are milled to contour approximately

20-25% larger than required and subsequently

sintered. At this, they shrink to their final size andobtain their typical, high fracture toughness.

    - Finally IPS e.max ZirCAD frameworks are conventionally veneered

using the IPS e.max Ceram layering ceramic or pressed over using

the IPS e.max ZirPress fluorapatite ingots.

    Regeneration Firing (optional):

Basically, adjustments of sintered IPS ZirCAD frameworks should be keptto a minimum.

A Regeneration firing is only recommended after:

    - Large-scale adjustment of the IPS e.max ZirCAD framework (e.g. reductionof cusps and overall thickness)

    - Use of grinding instruments not listed in the IPS e.max grinding toolrecommendations.

    - Grinding with diamond grinding tools (graining >100 m).

    Please note:

Fractures or cracks in the IPS e.max ZirCAD framework caused by roughfinishing, e.g. blasting with high pressure, cannot be healed by aRegeneration firing.
