IJB Real Estate Ltd was established in 2006

as a real estate development agency;

It provides decent accommodation to low and

medium scale income dwellers in Kampala

City, thus contributing towards alleviating

proliferation of slum dwellings in the City;

It also develops commercial properties for

small and medium-size business operators in

the urban centres in and around Kampala

City;

Through the achievements of IJB Real

Estate, the founder is now a respected

consultant and role model for the youths

seeking to engage in income generating

activities across the country.

BUSINESS APPROACH

IJB Real Estate employs

mostly illiterate and semi-

illiterate youths who have

gained construction experience

from elsewhere;

To ensure strict quality control, I

also engages the services of

professionals in the fields of:

architectural drawings;

development of Bills of Quantities;

Electrification and Water

Installation;

The Electrical Expert IJB uses is a

lady engineer;

The suppliers of building materials

– sand, aggregates and firewood –

are locals within the building site.

IJB Real Estate offers affordable

residential and office accommodation to

low and medium income earners;

The residential Units include self-

contained one-bedroom, sitting room,

kitchenette and balcony designed outfits.

These are very popular with single family

occupants;

The semi-detached units each comprises

two bedrooms; a sitting room; kitchen and

a central toilet;

Commercial units each has a store and a

display front room.

WHAT MAKES JUDITH SO SPECIAL?

As a youth and a lady engaged in the respected real estate

sector which, in Uganda and Africa in general, is largely

dominated by men, I have always received immediate

attention from all the people I have shared my achievements

with;

WHAT MAKES JUDITH SO SPECIAL?....

My journey in the real estate sector has been driven by self-

belief and creativity as opposed to the traditional avenue of

mortgages. Initially I did not take any bank loan but relied on

my entrepreneurial insight and tokens of appreciation from

family, well wishers and public leaders;

Later when the government came up with Youth Venture

capital, I took a loan of Shs. 5.0 million to complete the real

estate units;

Today however I have since been able to take a bank

guarantee from a bank to boost my real estate business. The

guarantee was for a value of Shs. 30.0 million;

Based on my business performance as reflected in my bank

statements, my bankers are pestering me to take business

loans with no collateral but I have been reluctant to rush into

debts.

My real estate story has been used by national leaders such as

senators, ministers, religious leaders, the President and First Lady

and university lecturers to inspire other youths especially young

ladies in Uganda to opt for entrepreneurship to curb unemployment

instead of the risky prostitution;

On the international scene my achievement was received by

respected London Business School (April 2011), Tanzania

Private Sector Foundation and the Expert Meeting on Science

and Technology in Geneva in January 2010 and no doubt, this

conference in Kigali.

I have the passion to train fellow youth to generate their own income

and become independent.

have the heart of lifting each and every individual to get on

their toes and work to generate income.
