• Keyboard is in layers: • Basic – capital and lower case letters• Press .?123 for numbers and special

characters

• Press #+= button for more special characters• Press ABC to get back• Caps Lock, Double Tap on up Arrow – solid color button• Turn off Caps Lock by tapping on Arrow again

• Words underlined in red are mispelled• If you tap twice on a mispelled word and tap

Replace – the iPad will suggest correctly spelled words

Typing

There is an undo button on the .?123 button and on the #+= button.

Typing

– If you type a word incorrectly or auto correct changes it when you tap the space bar, instead of deleting the whole word, just tap the backspace key once to see the replacement options. Then select the word you want to change it to. –Tap the space bar twice quickly and the

iPad will insert a period followed by a single space.

To select text•Double tap on a word – gives you

cut, copy, paste and other options

• To select more text – tap and hold the blue dots on either side of the word and drag in that direction. Once you let go the copy or cut options appear.

• To paste this somewhere– go to an area of blank space – and tap once to reveal paste

Double tap on a word and click Speak to hear the word. (it also works with any highlighted text.)

To hide the keyboard – click the button with the keyboard and the down arrow

Switch Between Apps

• Double press the Home button • This reveals your apps in the order they

were most recently opened.• Swipe from right to left to see even more• Tap on an app to switch back to it

Apps Continue to Run and Drain Power

Apps continue to run and drain power even when closed. To completely close:

–Double tap the Home button –All the running apps will be revealed–Swipe UP on the app to close it.

To completely shut down the iPad

(If you do not follow these steps, the battery will continue to lose charge.)

• Hold the power button in until on the screen you see “slide to power off”

• Slide to power off.• (If you just close the cover, the ipad is not shut

down)
