When presented with the opportunity to be the inaugural Chair of the Institute of Recruiters - IOR, I considered it an incredible honour to be part of a new organisation that could bring so much value to members. I am extremely proud of the IOR’s vision, to be a hub of best practice, knowledge sharing, and a way to connect members globally.

True innovation is easy to talk about but very hard to achieve, the IOR has set bold ambitions and is innovating in every area. When presented with the IOR’s mission, I can honestly say that during my 20 years in recruitment I have never witnessed such an impressive agenda backed up by both incredible energy and capability. I look forward to working with the IOR's talented executive team to create value and opportunity for members.

As we emerge from the one of the worst recessions in living memory, the IOR represents a new era and a new way of doing things. Forget what you have seen in the past from industry bodies and what they have offered, the IOR will set a new agenda, new offerings and services that are ground breaking and innovative, delivering a return for your membership support that is unprecedented, and exceeds your expectations.

I look forward to working with all of you and together we can build a sustainable incredible sector that connects us all globally, opening up new channels of business for us all.

The Institute of Recruiters | IOR is the professional body for HR, Agency & In-House recruiters.

The IOR represents professionals working in the recruitment and retention process that fall into the areas of agency recruitment, corporate (in-house) recruitment and HR. As a professional body, IOR Membership levels are select, based on assessed and qualified standards.

Connecting you Globally

As the IOR has a global membership base, it will allow us to invest far more into services that are relevant to recruiters in any country or location, such as educational services offered via the web (distance learning) and the innovative IOR technical offering coming soon.

The IOR will also establish a strong lobbying presence in Brussels, where many European laws affecting the UK are originated.

Creating International Standards

RecruitmentStandards.org is the International Open Standards Forum founded by the IOR | Institute of Recruiters. The forum is open to companies and individuals with the common objective of harmonisation, inter connectivity and communication standards within the recruitment sector.

Recruitment Standards Framework

The Recruitment Standards Framework will provide a more accurate, efficient and compatible data standard for vendors to implement into their recruitment websites, software, portals and solutions.

Education, Training & CPD

We offer a range of qualifications that cater for new entrants to the sector, right up to consultants and managers at all levels. Whether you are looking to further develop your knowledge and skills or a qualification that accredits your existing competence, we have what you need.

The IOR is working with several partners to develop a placement program for trainees to include a rotation placement covering three disciplines, HR, Corporate Resourcing and Agency Recruitment. The three individual rotation placements will be for between 2 to 4 weeks each and will cover various training components, meaning the entire rotation could be for as long as 3 months in total.

The placements will allow trainees to better understand the holistic candidate process and the challenges faced from different perspectives.

The program forms part of a larger matrix of IOR certified trainingand education (Qualification Matrix) which includes:

• CPD

• Workshops

• Taught Modules (on site or distance via VLE - online Virtual Learning Environment)

• Work Placement Rotations

Professional IOR Certified Apprenticeships are also beingdeveloped for 3 main areas:

• HR Manager

• Corporate Resourcing Manager (corporate/In-House Recruiter) Resourcing Partner (Agency Consultant)
