The arts are the language of human expression: an essential way for parents, children, friends and family to connect with one another in our busy world.

Midland Center for the Arts is the region’s cultural destination fusing entertainment, art, science and humanities. Your support makes that possible. Whether by purchasing a Subscription Package, trying something new at a Windows on the World performance, viewing exhibitions in our museum, introducing friends to the Center, or making a donation to support the arts, you make the Center come to life.

Last season, more than 140,000 people visited the Center, and the momentum continues this fall. The Midland Symphony Orchestra will collaborate with vocalists from across the region in Carmina Burana; our Windows on the World Series will broaden your horizons; and we welcome national tours of Something Rotten! and The King and I. And of course, we continue our long tradition of offering the finest community productions when our own Center Stage Theatre stages Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. And that’s just a taste of our season!

I look forward to seeing you at the Center!

“With its heart on its ruffled sleeve and sequins in its soul, Something Rotten! is ‘The Producers + Spamalot + The Book of Mormon. Squared!”’ (New York Magazine)

Set in the ‘90s – the 1590s – this hilarious smash tells the story of two brothers desperate to write their own hit play while the “rock star” Shakespeare keeps getting all the hits. When a local soothsayer foretells that the future of theater involves singing, dancing and acting at the same time, Nick and Nigel set out to write the world’s very first MUSICAL!

Rodgers & Hammersteins’sThe King and IAPR 18, 19 & 20, 2019 / 7:30 PMAPR 20, 2019 / 2 PM

“Magnificent. A sweepingly romantic production. How good to be getting to know the show all over again.” (Newsday)

Two worlds collide in this “breathtaking and exquisite” (The New York Times) musical, based on the 2015 Tony Award®-winning Lincoln Center Theater production. One of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s finest works, THE KING AND I boasts a score that features such beloved classics as “Getting To Know You,” “I Whistle a Happy Tune,”“Hello Young Lovers,” “Shall We Dance” and “Something Wonderful.”

Set in 1860’s Bangkok, the musical tells the story of the unconventional and tempestuous relationship that develops between the King of Siam and Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher whom the modernist King, in an imperialistic world, brings to Siam to teach his many wives and children. THE KING AND I is “too beautiful to miss” (New York Magazine).

KINKY BOOTS is Broadway’s huge-hearted, high-heeled hit! With songs by Grammy® and Tony® winning pop icon Cyndi Lauper, this joyous musical celebration is about the friendships we discover, and the belief that you can change the world when you change your mind. Inspired by true events, KINKY BOOTS takes you from a gentlemen’s shoe factory in Northampton to the glamorous catwalks of Milan. Charlie Price is struggling to live up to his father’s expectations and continue the family business of Price & Son. With the factory’s future hanging in the balance, help arrives in the unlikely but spectacular form of Lola, a fabulous performer in need of some sturdy new stilettos. With direction and choreography by two-time Tony Award-winner Jerry Mitchell (Legally Blonde, Hairspray) and a book by Broadway legend and four-time Tony Award-winner Harvey Fierstein (La Cage Aux Folles), KINKY BOOTS is the winner of six Tony Awards including Best Musical, Best Score and Best Choreography.

PROTECT YOURSELF FROM TICKET FRAUDThe Midland Center for the Arts Ticket Office and website are your ONLY official sources for tickets to shows and events. Purchasing from an unauthorized source may put you at risk for receiving counterfeit tickets or paying too much for your tickets. You also may not be able to get help from the ticketing staff if you have a problem, as there will be no in-house record of your transaction.

If you think you may have been deceived by a fraudulent ticket reseller, you can file a Consumer Complaint Form with the Michigan Attorney General’s Office. Forms are located at https://secure.ag.state.mi.us/complaints/consumer.aspx

We urge you to protect yourself by purchasing directly from Midland Center for the Arts. Buy your tickets at midlandcenter.org; by phone at 800.523.7649; or in person at our Ticket Office.

IMPORTANT TICKET & FACILITY INFORMATION

TICKETS, REFUNDS & EXCHANGES All sales are final. Subscribers may exchange tickets for free up to 24 hours prior to the event. The value of the exchanged ticket(s) will be applied to another Center 2018-19 event. We cannot hold a credit on your account. Everyone attending a performance must have their own ticket, regardless of age and even if you expect a child to sit in an adult’s lap. We have wheelchair accessible and no-step seating available in our theaters. Please make needs known when reserving your seats. Please note that our theaters do not have elevators. Midland Center for the Arts offers a diverse selection of arts entertainment. Not all productions may appeal to or be appropriate for every person or for all ages. Therefore, patrons are responsible for making informed decisions regarding their ticket purchases. Contact our Ticket Office if you have questions regarding age appropriateness.

Processing Fees: Midland Center for the Arts applies a Processing Fee to most performance tickets. This small per-ticket fee is specifically used to maintain and upgrade our facilities. Printed on your actual ticket you will see the Processing Fee separate from the ticket price. For subscription orders, it is a one-time, flat fee.
