17 th & 18 th January 2017, Chennai 21.12.2017 INVITATION Dear Friends and Comrades, Greetings, Campaign for Custodial Justice & Abolition of Torture in collaboration with Society for Integrated Rural Development (SIRD), Madurai and Human Rights Advocacy and Research Foundation (HRF), Chennai jointly invite you to a Training Programme for Human Rights Defenders to gain rights in various custodial institutions which is to be held on 17 th & 18 th January 2017 at JJ Hall, ICSA (Jivana Jothi) No.107, Pantheon Salai, Egmore, Chennai – 600 008. The meeting will commence at 9.30 a.m. on 17 th January 2017 and conclude at 5.00 pm on 18 th January 2017. It is a residential training programme. The participants will include human rights activists, chief functionaries and senior programme co- ordinators of NGO’s and representatives of other democratic organisations interested in organizing and supporting public actions for the protection of human rights, standards in institutions of custody. The resource persons will involve experts and persons with years of valuable experience in human rights, custodial rights and standards to be used. This training will provide an analytical perspective / facts on the issues listed for this training and outline strategies for the protection of human rights especially the right to life, livelihood and liberty. It is in this context of dialogue that we request your organisation to depute two senior activists for this training programme. Kindly make your confirmation latest by 13 th January 2017 to Ph. Kindly note that preference is given to activists who are already engaged in defending human rights. We are glad to take care of the accommodation and food arrangements of the participants.
