HONG KONG AND BEIJING
9th -23rd October 2010
A taste of things to come…
THE PEAK The Peak Tram pulls into the Peak Tower, the icon of
Hong Kong, on its last stop. Peak Tower sits at an elevation of over 396 meters (about 1299 feet) with a commanding view of the spectacular Victoria Harbor, Kowloon and the New Territories.
HARBOUR LIGHT SHOW This is the grandest free light show you’ll ever see.
Every night at 8pm, 44 buildings on both sides of the Victoria Harbour synchronize their lights and show off lasers in time with music.
THE BUDDHA Couldn’t find a picture of the Buddha so put mum
instead!! This statue is the world's largest Buddha statue, by
using bronze, it's 34 metres tall and weighs 250 tonnes.
DISNEYLAND If you stay long enough you can see a firework show
which is accompanied with matching music.
SHENZHEN - SHOPPING If you have a spare day in Hong Kong and shopping is
your thing then think about taking the train to Shenzhen for some serious retail therapy. The prices in Shenzhen are incredible and the people are friendly and approachable and bargain in a friendly, non aggressive way. Note. The best days to avoid crowds are Wednesday and Thursday. Don't even consider public holidays!
HAPPY VALLEY RACESHappy Valley Racecourse (Chinese: 快活谷馬場 or 跑馬
地馬場 ) is one of the two racecourses for horse racing in Hong Kong. It is located in Happy Valley on Hong Kong Island, surrounded by Wong Nai Chung Road and Morrison Hill Road.
OCEAN PARKOcean Park Hong Kong (Chinese: 香港海洋公園 ),
commonly known as Ocean Park, is a marine mammal park, oceanarium, and animal theme park, situated in Wong Chuk Hang and Nam Long Shan in the Southern District of Hong Kong.
CENTRAL ( THE LANES) “Li Yuen Street East and West, run between the main
central roads. These two steep cobbled lanes are lined with shops and stalls, hawking inexpensive clothing, watches, luggage and a few curios, it is an interesting walk and occasionally something unusual will catch the eye.”
MONG-KOK LADIES MARKET Mongkok is officially the world's most densely
populated area, and the area is packed with high rise residential buildings, shops, street restaurants and more.
BEIJING- SILK MARKET The Silk Markets is definitely not a
man's place... it's girlie shopping heaven.
BEIJING- THE FORBIDDEN CITY The Forbidden City was the Chinese imperial palace
from the Ming Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty. It is located in the middle of Beijing, China, and now houses the Palace Museum. For almost five hundred years, it served as the home of emperors and their households, as well as the ceremonial and political centre of Chinese government.
AND OF COURSE, THE GREAT WALL I think you already know about this….
WE CAN’T WAIT TILL YOU COME!!!
