My interest in painting ‘portrait’ works stems from my raison d’etre: to examine the human condition.
Facial features express so much of the character of the individual, the essence of an individual. The manner
of gestures, the stance or stature of an individual, their speaking voice, their eyes; all coalesce into a
personality. I endeavour to imbue my sitters with such a personality.
