Infants will enjoy this fun manipulative. They are called pop-blocks. Infants connect each one by a knob inserted in a hold on the opposite block. They will have to use their hand eye coordination as will as their grasping reflexes to maneuver the pieces and attach them together.

Toddlers will love to play with this toy. They will use their hand and eye coordination as well as their pincher grasping to place the pegs into the holes and snap into place.

In the large picture above, I chose a kitchen pretend play set. I feel this is an awesome way to develop social skills by working together and pretending together or even in parallel. I chose to also add puppets. I think it is a great way to learn about different sounds and variations in the voice. I also think it is important to have children learn to pretend and use their imagination and with puppets you can pretend anything. It may help them remember a story or class room rules as well if the puppet it talking. I also chose to add baby dolls of various races and cultural backgrounds. I think as a part of social and emotional development, children also need to recognize differences and learn to work together with others. Not only can they pretend play with the baby dolls but they can create scenarios and use their imaginations as well as mimic behaviors they have seen or heard, which is a very important part in learning at this age.
