Word

What is Word

• A computer program created by Microsoft as part of the Office Suite. (Including Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Access)

• A Word Processing program.• Easier to store documents, edit and make

corrections than the typewriter.

What you can do with Word

• Type papers, resumes, books and other documents.

• Create Newsletters• Add pictures and drawings• Create labels• Print envelopes

Word Basics

• MS Word creates files called Word Documents or just Documents

• Files created in Word 2007 have the extension .docx by default(Previous versions used .doc)

• Example: The file name of my resume could be DanResume09.docx

• These files can be printed or emailed to another person who can open it only if they also have MS Word.

Opening Word

• Find and click the program in the Start Menu

-OR-• Double Click on a

shortcut to the program

-OR-• Double Click on a Word
