Course DevelopmentThe Course development sought to provide a smooth journey from the Experiences & Outcomes to:

Lifeskills Maths (National 3 to National 5)orMaths (National 4 to Advanced Higher)

MathsAll levels from National 4 to Advanced Higher contain 3 Units. Each Unit has 2 Outcomes.

To achieve the Course award a candidate must meet all 3 Units and for:

National 4, pass an internally assessed Added Value Unit

National 5 to Advanced Higher pass an externally assessed Question Paper

Lifeskills Maths

To achieve the Course award at National 3 a candidate must achieve all 3 Units.

At National 4 a candidate must achieve all 3 Units and pass an Added Value Unit.

At National 5 a candidate must achieve all 3 Units and pass an externally assessed Question Paper.

Numeracy UnitsNumeracy Units are available for National 3 – 5.

National 4 Maths contains a Numeracy Unit.

National 3 – 5 Lifeskills Maths contain a Numeracy Unit.

Numeracy Units can be delivered as standalone Units.

Unit Assessment Support Packs

There are UASPs published for Maths and Lifeskills Maths.These UASPs are NOT mandatory but suggest approaches to assessment.

Update-UASPsUASPs The main changes are updates and clarification to the Judging Evidence Tables and Reassessment arrangements. In addition tracking grids have been added to each pack.

Guidance document This will include samples of all types of the tracking tables that appear in the packs.

Update-Bridging Packs

In response to requests from stakeholders we have developed a Bridging pack. This pack gives guidance to centres on how candidates who have achieved the 3 N5 Maths Units could generate evidence for the N5 Numeracy Outcomes and Assessment Standards that may not be generated during the N5 Maths Course.
