Welcome to

STAMIGOLD COMPANY LIMITED

STAMIGOLD Company Limited was incorporated on 28th October 2013 to

carry on the business of mining gold, of processing such gold and generally

treat, prepare, render marketable, sell and dispose of such gold or by-products

resulting therefrom either in their raw or processed state. The company which

operates as a private company limited by shares is the only gold mining

company owned by the state through the State Mining Corporation

(STAMICO) and Treasury Registrar. Where STAMICO holds 99.99% of the

total shares while the Treasury Registrar owns 0.01%.

The Company operates the STAMIGOLD Biharamulo Mine. The mine started

operations in July 2014. The Company activities include geological exploration

within the Biharamulo Forest Reserve The mine is located at the edge of

Biharamulo Forest Reserve, in Kaniha Ward, Biharamulo District, Kagera

Region. Coordinates: 03°20′S 031°53′E. The mine site can be accessed by road

either from the Kahama–Rusumo Highway, or from the Geita–Biharamulo

Highway via Bwanga to Runzewe road.

Moreover, the company has continually developed its Local Content policies

and skills development where the focus is on the employment of local staff,

training of students and conduct industrial internship programs. Moreover, the

company conducts training in several areas to the employees such as

Occupational Health and Safety training, Environmental Management,

Emergency Response and Preparedness, courageous leadership training and

public Procurement Regulations, among others.

Tanzania mining industry has recently garnered substantial contribution to the

national economy up to 5.07% in 2018. This was reported by the Minister of

Minerals to be due to the amendment of the Mining Act, 2010 in 2017 which

introduced the Mining Commission. Moreover, there was also high raise of

awareness by the sector’s stakeholders, growth of the sector itself as well as

proper regulation, auditing and monitoring of mining activities. As a result the

government has received royalties and export earnings, with estimated exports

in 2018 of USD 1,549 million representing 40% of the USD 3,893 million total

goods exports.

The Company operations are carried out through

several open pits within the area of the Special

Mining License No. SML 157/2003 which

covers 25.38 sq. km valid for 25 years.

The current proven reserve is sufficient to

sustain mining operations for 5 years.

To identify and assess work place hazards and risks, develop and implement programs to mitigate them.

To train all employees and visitors on work place hazards and risks and how to identify all hazards, risks and

report them to management for rectification.

To constantly review all the site working procedures to make them user friendly.

All incidents/accidents and near misses will be reported, investigated, documented, and thereafter to put and

implement proper remedial actions to avoid their recurrence.

STAMIGOLD Company Limited has committed to engage herself in program

that best benefit the communities surrounding the mine site. The company has

procured most of food stuff from the villagers and is currently assisting in the

construction of a health center.

Special Programs

The Company has resolved to undertake a re-treatment of tailings from old tailings

storage facility (TSF) as a separate project from the mining operations. The tails re-

serve is more than 8 million tonnes when processed, the company can recover more

than 200,000 ounces of gold. This project intends to, among others, increase the com-

pany’s revenue as well as extend the life of the mine.

her duties and obligations in growing the gold and silver processing and selling

business.

The Company has participated and

received awards in two exhibitions held

in Geita in 2018 and 2019.

The Company won the 1st price in the

medium scale mines category both

times. The company also participates in

the national trade fair known as “saba

saba” and was amongst the top most

attractive and visited stall, located in the

Ministry of Minerals building.

Complete Repairs of the

Processing Plant

The gold processing plant re-

quired massive repair to cater to

production demands. The same

was done by replacing rollers,

liners, lifters and the 300 m

length of the conveyor belt.

The company heavily invested on

restoration of the process plant and

thus managed to reduce production

costs from USD 1,800 per ounce

from Jan-March 2018 to an average

of USD 940.14 per ounce from

July 2018 to June 2019.
