Leadership: Leadership is a process of serving and influencing others, through positive role modeling,

to help them attain their highest priority needs. A good leader focuses on the growth and

empowerment of people in the communities where they live.

Attitude: Your attitude is a reflection of your behavior, actions and words. A positive disposition and

attitude leads to optimism, acceptance, resilience, motivation and gratitude.

Responsibility: Responsibility is the practice of acting with honesty and being held accountable for

your actions. Responsible individuals remain trustworthy, follow through on commitments and show

courage in standing up for their beliefs.

Respect : Respect is showing consideration for the feelings and values of others. INSPIRE leaders will

demonstrate respect by treating others in a manner that they themselves wish to be treated.

Educate: When you educate, you facilitate the learning of others through sharing knowledge and

experience. You also commit to continually learning and growing, yourself.

Empower: When you empower yourself, you attain the highest level of self-awareness and internal

strength. By empowering others, you help them realize their strengths and abilities.

Support: Support is the act of showing compassion and encouragement to others and conveying your

faith in their ability to accomplish their goals.

Service: Committing to a life of service to others helps you to develop empathy, humility, and gratitude

while giving back to your community.

Each participant in the INSPIRE Program, (known as INSPIRE Leaders, regardless of age), will be required

to demonstrate completion of each of the elements of the program annually. These elements include

personal development, community engagement, academic excellence, health and fitness, fundraising

and diversability awareness.

Each participant must also be able to demonstrate living by the Guiding Principles of the Program, along

with following the Code of Conduct established for Camp No Limits. Campers may enroll year after year

until age 18. At 18 years of age, INSPIRE Leaders who have successfully completed two years in the

INSPIRE Program can become adult mentors for the junior campers.

In December of each year, INSPIRE Leaders who have successfully completed the requirements for

participation will receive recognition on the Camp No Limits website and will be recognized at each CNL

the following year. Participants are encouraged to share their culminating portfolios at camp (poster,

slideshow, video, scrapbook, etc.) at the INSPIRE Fair, which will be held at each forthcoming CNL.

There are three levels of participation awards for the INSPIRE Program. The three levels of certification

are Gold, Silver and Bronze; each category has different requirements. At the end of the year, each

participant’s portfolio submission will be reviewed by the INSPIRE Leadership Committee. Exceptions

are made at the discretion of the committee. For example, if a participant receives a gold standard for

community engagement, and a bronze standard for academics, the committee will review the entirety

of the portfolio to determine the award for the year. We acknowledge diversabilities in all of these

categories.

As an INSPIRE Leader, I vow to commit myself to personal

development, community engagement and building

diversability awareness for the unique and important

contributions of all people. I pledge to work and live by

Page 8: Introduction 2 - No Limits Foundation

The emphasis in this activity is focused on improving self-awareness, identity, and developing talents

and potential. The overall goal of focusing on personal development leads to enhancing the individual’s

quality of life. All elements of Personal Development must be complete.

● Create a personal mission statement

● Write three short term and three long term goals and chart your progress

● Identify a personal challenge for the year and work towards overcoming your fears and getting

out of your comfort zone

● Journal about your experiences or create a photo slideshow, video, scrapbook, etc. that tells the

story of your personal development over the year

● Reflect on how you have grown as an individual over the year at the INSPIRE Fair

Community service and engagement brings people together. It promotes personal growth and

self-esteem, helps one to develop empathy and inspires one to focus on the wellbeing and needs of

others before focusing on one’s self. Some examples of community engagement include:

● Participate in an anti-bullying campaign

● Assist with helping the needy in your community (food drive, clothing drive, school backpack /

supplies drive, soup kitchen)

● Organize a neighborhood clean up

● Plant trees for Arbor Day/Earth Day

● Volunteer time/service in an elderly care setting

● Provide support (volunteer, donate time, host a bake sale, host an animal food drive) for local

shelter animals

● Participate in activities with a religious organization

● Volunteer with after-school rec programs, YMCA, after-school tutoring

● Come up with your own idea and share it with your mentor

Academic excellence is the demonstrated ability to perform, achieve and / or excel in scholastic

activities. Excelling in organizational skills, reading, writing and math creates well-rounded,

self-sufficient individuals.

Staying active and taking care of your body improves your quality of life, health and reduces the risk of

developing diseases. A commitment to a healthy lifestyle promotes wellness in mind, body and spirit.

Engage in a healthy lifestyle by (select what works for you):

● Track your steps daily with a step counter/tracker and improve on your total each month

● Participate in an organized sport or be a member of a team (through community league, school,

YMCA, etc.)

● Cook two lean, healthy meals per month for your family. Take a picture and share your recipe in

your portfolio

● Act as a team manager or assistant for an organized sports team

● Try a new sport that you haven’t attempted before

● Log your miles biking and go further distances for three consecutive months

● Download a Fitness App (yoga, Pilates, cardio etc.) and chart your workouts monthly

● Come up with another idea to share with your mentor

● Participate in a 5K run/walk. There is a “Couch to 5K App” online, as well as many others

So much is gained through participating in Camp No Limits. Often, first time campers struggle to

generate the funds necessary to attend camp. As an INSPIRE Leader, your fundraising dollars will be

used to provide first time campers the opportunities that you have enjoyed as a camper. There are many

ways to generate funds. Examples include:

● Creating a dress down day at school – kids pay to wear pajamas to school

● Create a “_______-a-thon.” Examples – Dance-a-thon, Hop-a-thon, Bike-a-thon, etc.

● Design t-shirts, bandanas, bracelets, etc. and sell them to raise money for camp.

● Bake sale, craft sale, yard sale, etc.

● Solicit your local volunteer service organizations such as Rotary, Masonic, Kiwanis, Elks, etc.

See if you can present to the group about your desire to raise funds (will also qualify for

Diversability Awareness)

● Restaurant night - get a local restaurant to partner with you on one night and have them

donate 10% of the profits to CNL

● Birthday Giving – in lieu of gifts, have folks donate to your CNL fundraising campaign

● Please see the fundraising packet on the Camp No Limits website

Diversity + Ability = Diversability. Diversability is a movement to rebrand disability through the power of

community. Promoting awareness of diversity through education is part of our mission at Camp No

Limits. As an ambassador of Camp No Limits, we rely on our INSPIRE Leaders to deliver the message

that we are all capable of achieving health, happiness and independence regardless of perceived

challenges. Select and complete one option or discuss another idea with your mentor. Examples of

promoting Diversability Awareness include:

● Present to your class/school

● Present your personal story and your experience at CNL at a local service organization’s meeting

(Rotary, Kiwanis, Lions Club, Boy Scouts, etc.)

● Write an article for CNL Newsletter or a guest blog on the Camp No Limits Blog

● Reach out to your local news sources (newspaper, community magazines, radio and TV news)

and offer to provide a story for the media

● Host a table or booth at a community fair

● Partner with another diversability service organization to bring awareness to issues facing

people with diversabilities

Teen INSPIRE Leaders will demonstrate success with all eight of the INSPIRE Program’s Guiding Principles

in their portfolios. As you work on the elements of the INSPIRE Program, you may have many examples

of applying these Guiding Principles. Please keep a log of all of the ways you live by the Guiding

Principles.

Camp No Limits is a recognized President’s Volunteer Service Award Organization and is very proud of that distinction. The President’s Volunteer Service Award (PVSA) is the premier volunteer awards program, encouraging citizens to live a life of service through presidential gratitude and national recognition. This aligns perfectly with the INSPIRE Programs goals of community engagement, and we encourage our leaders to take advantage of using the PVSA website to document any unpaid service hours.

Please visit www.presidentialserviceawards.gov/volunteer for more information. You will be entered into their system once we receive your application and assigned to our organization: No Limits Limb Loss Foundation.

As of March 2019, the criteria for adding hours have changed, and it needs to be completed by the certifying organization. It’s important for you to keep track of your hours independently, and report them to your mentor and/or the INSPIRE Coordinator for verifying those and inputting them for credit. This can be done monthly, quarterly, or as often as you complete any service hours. Eligible participation is from January 1st to December 31st. Awards will be presented after the end of the year.
