The systems have been developed and tested to suit most environments. Educational, commercial and retailapplications, transport terminals and health servicebuildings are just a few of the markets in which SeniorArchitectural Systems has a well earned reputation forservice, quality, delivery and technical support.

OverviewFive systems are available, SPW300 medium to high thermalperformance, SPW600 high thermal performance, SMRFframeless casement window, SMRFP parallel push window, and Hybrid high performance timber/aluminium window.

Senior’s extensive suite of profile designs is constructed from environmentally friendly aluminium and responsiblysourced timber, and supplied with comprehensive product and finish warranties.

Each and every component is stocked and fabricated locally, allowing us to provide responsive delivery and lowertransportation costs, as well as benefitting the environment by keeping our carbon footprint to a minimum.

Senior’s window systems are designed and focused on the UK and Irish market, achieving industry leading U valuesand seamlessly conforming to UK architecture and BuildingRegulations. We are able to react faster to any last minutedesign changes, giving you greater control.

Depending on the system selected, glazing can range from a 4mm single pane to 56mm double glazed units. By varyingthe glazing specification and system/profile selection, highinsulation and specific overall U values can be achieved.

FlexibilityThe majority of window ranges are compatible with Senior’sSCW, SCW+, SMR800, SMR900 and Hybrid range of curtainwall systems. All are available in single or dual colour finish.

Dependent on the range specified, Senior’s systems areavailable as casement, tilt and turn, top swing reversible and pivoting windows.

A full range of window hardware is available, including cockspur handles, friction stays, folding cam openers, tilt andturn gearing, overswing gearing, pivots and espagnolettelocking for added security.

Window systems

The systemsSPW300 is a 51mm thermally broken system usingpolyamide strips for improved thermal insulation, andcomprises casement, tilt and turn, top swing reversible and pivoting windows.

Giving even greater thermal insulation properties, SPW600is a 75mm thermally broken system comprising casement,tilt and turn and top swing reversible windows.

The SMRF frameless casement window dramaticallyreduces visible sight lines and is suitable for curtain wallsystems incorporating 28mm glazing cavities. The systemcan also provide a fully flush option.

SMRFP is a new parallel push window, offering increasedventilation and air circulation benefits. UK manufacturedand tested, Senior Architectural Systems is the first Britishcompany to develop this revolutionary solution. Quick andstraightforward to install, SMRFP utilises standardhardware already available in the UK and, subject tofenestration design, the system can also be linked into a building’s internal management system, to enableeffective smoke evacuation in the case of an emergency.

Hybrid is an 83mm system comprising timber on the insidefor thermal insulation and aluminium on the outside fordurability. Hybrid windows include casement, tilt and turn and reversible flush casement options.

Senior’s entrancedoor systems are constructed using environmentally friendlyaluminium and sustainably sourced timber, with mitred andmechanically crimped corners, and support chevrons and cleats.Integral transoms and mullions are installed by scribing the ends and then either screw- fixing or bracket- fixing into the outer frames.

Depending on the system selected, glazing can range from a 4mmsingle pane to 56mm double glazed units. By varying the glazingspecification and system/profile selection, high insulation andspecific overall U values can be achieved.

The systemsSPW300 is a 51mm thermally broken entrance doorsystem using polyamide strips for improved thermalinsulation. The range comprises single, double, inward and outward opening options.

SPW400 is an effortless sliding folding door suitablefor a wide range of environments including domesticand light to medium duty commercial applicationssuch as restaurants. High quality two- to eight- pane configurations are available, complete with multi-point high security locking and weather testingto British Standards. Available with inward andoutward opening options, the system features nointermediate stiles for slim sight lines, with lowthreshold and full frame solutions on request.

The SPW600 system is a 75mm thermally brokenrange using larger polyamide strips than the SPW300giving even better thermal insulation. Single, double,inward and outward opening options are available.

Hybrid is an 83mm system comprising timber on the inside for greater thermal insulation andaluminium on the outside for durability.

Ground floor treatment systems

Senior’s ground floor treatment systems have been developedand tested to suit most environments. With applications rangingfrom retail, commercial, transport terminals, health servicebuildings and educational establishments, Senior’s range ofground floor systems is designed to make specifying the correct solution simple and straightforward.

The systemsSFG is a commercial flush glazed solution for ground floortreatment. Mullions and transoms are of channel and plateconstruction allowing it to be fabricated into ladders forquicker assembly on site. The system is capable of carryingsingle and double glazing up to 24mm.

Complementing SFG, the SD commercial door system hasbeen designed to meet the demands of high use entrancesand is available as a single or double unit. A full range of hardware is available, including double action pivot doors,fire exit, folding sliding and sliding garage doors. Automatedgearing can also be incorporated into the system.

SPW500 is a commercial thermally broken screening and door system suitable for high traffic and heavy dutycommercial applications such as schools, hospitals andleisure facilities. Achieving excellent thermal performance, the system utilises standard commercial door hardware and unique features including radius anti finger trap stiles.Single, double and emergency exit options are available.

FlexibilityThe SFG system provides a single source, flexible andproven solution to ground floor treatments. Workingseamlessly with the SFG system, SD and SPW500 doorsare also compatible with SCW, SCW+, SMR800, SMR900and the Hybrid range of curtain wall systems.

OverviewSenior Architectural Systems provides high performance curtain wall solutions for new and refurbished buildings. Five ranges are available: SCW semi-unitised, SCW+ enhanced thermal break, semi-unitised, SMR900 high performance, SMR800 enhancedthermal break, high performance, and Hybrid high performancealuminium/timber composite.

The systemsSCW curtain wall is a semi-unitised, zone drained system capable of spanning low to high, dependent on the manner of installation. Its mullions and transoms are of a channel and plate constructionallowing it to be fabricated into ladders for quicker assembly on site.SCW is weather tested to BS6375.

SCW+ curtain wall is a semi-unitised, zone drained system, againcapable of spanning low to high, dependent on the manner ofinstallation. It is similar to SCW but has been designed to achieveeven greater weather and thermal performance. SCW+ is tested toCWCT and the latest European standards.

SMR900 curtain wall is a medium to high rise system. It is a zonedrained stick system that has been designed to achieve high weatherand thermal performance. SMR900 is tested to CWCT and the latestEuropean standards.

SMR800 curtain wall is a medium to high rise system with increasedweather and thermal performance. It is a zone drained stick systemfeaturing hollow box construction mullions and transoms. SMR800 istested to CWCT and the latest European standards.

Hybrid is a low to high rise timber/aluminium curtain wall. It is a sticksystem that has been designed to achieve high weather and thermalperformance. Hybrid curtain wall is tested to CWCT and the latestEuropean standards.

Roof glazingSenior Architectural Systems provides high performance roof glazing solutions for new and refurbished properties. Two ranges are available: SPG non insulated, and S27 thermally broken.

Hybrid systems from Senior’s

The original and trusted timber/aluminium composite solution and manufactured and supplied in the UK, Hybrid is a high insulation composite timber and aluminium window range,complemented by a matching door and curtain wall system.

Hybrid combines the advantage of the long life and low maintenance of aluminium externally with the high insulation,environmentally focused benefits of responsibly sourced engineered timber internally.

OverviewThe Hybrid family consists of the Series 1 range of traditional composite windows and doors,Series 2 comprising a contemporary collection of commercial slimline windows and Series 3composite curtain wall system.

The product is designed and manufactured withinthe UK, and is fabricated by an approved networkof UK companies. The range meets and exceedsall current standards, making it an ideal solutionfor both new-build and refurbishment projectswhere site measurement is required. All timberused in our Hybrid range of products is sourcedonly from PEFC certified sustainable sources.

Thermal efficiencyHybrid windows have the thermal efficiency of timbercombined with the latest glass technology to produceU values well below the current and anticipated futureBuilding Regulation requirements.

Low maintenanceHybrid provides the advantage of fully pre-treatedengineered timber internally, so any possibility ofwarping or twisting is eliminated. Combined with the benefits of powder coated aluminium windowsexternally means maintenance is minimal.

Choice of appearanceHybrid windows feature either natural or painted timberinternally. As the internal surfaces are fabricated fromengineered timber, there is no requirement to paint as there are no knots to obscure. Externally, Hybridoffers a choice of finishes in polyester powder paint - virtually any RAL colour in either gloss, satin or matt. An anodised external finish is also available.

Following the devastating fire of the historic Weston-super-MareGrand Pier in July 2008, a futuristic new pier pavilion was designedby Bristol-based architects Angus Meek. The concept was chosenfrom six designs, shortlisted by the owners of the pier, brother andsister Kerry and Michelle Michael. To realise the ambitious plans for acutting-edge new pier, Senior Architectural Systems was the obviouschoice for high performance fenestration, finished in marine qualitysilver and anodised for maximum protection against the elements.

Orlitts Lake Visitor Centre is an educational facility and provides theopportunity to observe the enormous variety of wildlife that inhabits thelake.
