Clasificarea întrerupatoarelor automate de joasa tensiune
Dupa funcţiile de protecţie, care determină declansările automate:
– intreruratoare automate de curent maxim;– intrerupatoare automate de curent minim;– intrerupatoare automate de curent invers;– intrerupatoare automate de tensiune minima;– intrerupatoare automate de tensiune maxima;

Dupa numarul polilor, intrerupatoarele automate pot fi:
– monopolare, – bipolare, – tripolare – tetrapolare.
Dupa felul curentului comutat:
– intrerupatoare de c.c. – intrerupatoare de c.a. monofazate, – intrerupatoare trifazate.
Dupa mediul de stingere a arcului pot fi: – in ulei, – in aer.

Intrerupatoarele automate de c.a.
Se realizeaza in doua forme constructive:
intrerupatoare automate universale (in constructie deschisa).

Portiunea 1- caracteristica dependenta corespunzatoare declasatoarelor temobimetalice
Portiunea 2 - reprezinta caracteristica independenta corespunzatoare declasatoarelor electromagnetice
Portiunea 3 - corespunde zonei de protectie a sigurantelor fuzibile in cazul curentilor de scurt circuit
Portiunea 4- reprezinta curba de stabilitate termica a Instalatiei protejate
