Major SDH/1 Gender Inequity-

Due to gender women suffers a lot in many sector like health, education, social status. Violence against women also a big issue here.

Human Resources and Health- In Bangladesh the number of health professionals are not enough to cover the whole population.

Major SDH/2 Climate Change-

Climate change has a huge and long term serious consequences on the life of people in Bangladesh. Due to climate change frequent and severe floods, tropical cyclones will be increased and sea level also rising.

Arsenic – Arsenic contamination of drinking water make life miserable. Almost seven million people affected by the arsenic.

FOR POLICY MAKERS

Implement SDH-related policies Those policies which are already in place need to be implemented properly. Need to investigate to explore the reason why these policies are not successfully works.

Recommendations/2 Address corruption-

Policy makers needs to consider the corruption issue which is one of the big barrier to implement the policy specially in health sector. Authority should focus to discourage the corruption.

Address the Human Resources- To serve the people through the whole country we need a good number of health professionals. Now the time to increase the professionals by giving proper training, appointing them more specially for poor people and rural areas.

Run SDH-specific courses- Many universities has programme and courses on SDH but not through the lens of SDH so INTREC can work to run SDH related courses in the context of Bangladesh.

Promote Research- INTREC can support to research on specific and important SDH issues in Bangladesh like gender, NCDs, rural poverty, slum life, mental health, ageing, arsenic contamination, tobacco, and natural disasters

Collaboration There are many courses ongoing on SDH issues in universities and NGO’s where INTREC can play a important role by collaborate with them to run those courses more effectively.

Exchange Programme- Arrange Exchange Programme Between INDEPTH sites It will be a good experience for INTREC scientists to sharing there experience between different Asian HDSS. They can share experience by spends periods of time in other South Asian countries.
