Organ: liver

Lesions: A: liver is enlarged, pale brown to beige, edges rounded and

the cut surface is not be greasy.

B: The hepatocytes are distended (arrows) with extensive

cytoplasmic vacuolation. H&E stain.

Dx: Glycogen accumulation.

Organ: liver

Lesions:

A: Presence of clear, empty

vacuole within hepatocyte

cytoplasm.

B: Periodic acid-Schiff reaction

shows irregular distribution of

glycogen (darker color) in the

hepatocytes.

Extracellular accumulation

Page 6: Intracellular and Extracellular accumulation

Lesions: 1. Presence of homogenous, glassy, eosinophilic substances

within the cytoplasm of epithelial cells (Blue arrows).

2. Homogenous, glassy, eosinophilic substances occupied the lumen of

renal tubule (black arrow).

Dx: 1. Intracellular hyaline (Hyaline droplet).

2. Extracellular hyaline.

Organ:

Kidney

Lesions:

The wall of the afferent glomerular arteriole appears as a

glassy pink, homogenous deposit (blue arrow).

Dx: Extracellular hyaline.

Organ:

Pancreas

Lesion:

Diagnosis:

Deposition of an

amorphous,

homogenous,

eosinophilic, material

(arrow) extracellularly

within the glandular

tissue.

Amyloidosis

Organ: Kidney

Lesion: The glomerular architecture is nearly totally obliterated

by amorphus pink material.

Dx: Glomerular Amyloidosis

Dx:

Deposition of an amorphous, homogenous, eosinophilic,

material (arrows) extracellularly within the lymphatic

tissue.

Organ:

duodenum

Lesions:

A: Presence of amorphous

homogenous pink material

in lamina propria (H&E)

and around blood vessels.

B: an amorphous

homogenous bright pink

material in lamina propria

and around blood vessels

after staining with Congo

red.
