What I Learned in Intersession

In my intersession, we built catapults, trebuchets, rockets, slingshots, and bridges. I learned the most from building the catapults, trebuchets, and bridges.

CATAPULTS

A catapult can be used to describe any machine that hurls a projectile. I learned what I need to build one of my own, and I learned how to stop the catapult from following through our stop.

TREBUCHET

A trebuchet is a version of a catapult that has an arm that is swung by a counter-weight. I learned what these were and how to configure one of my own.

BRIDGES

Building the bridges was one of the harder projects. I learned that you need very many supports for a stable bridge. If I was to do this project again, I would be able to build a better more sturdy bridge now that I know some of the problems my group encountered.

MOST INTERESTING ACTIVITIES

The activities I found interesting was the catapults, the trebuchets, the rockets, and the slingshot. I found these very interesting activities mostly because we all got to go outside.

WHAT ACTIVITIES WERE MOST CHALLENGING

The most challenging activities to me were the catapults and the bridges. The catapult was breaking after launching the tennis ball a few times, and the bridges were just hard to glue everything together and get it to stay stable

WHAT I LIKED ABOUT THE INTERSESSION

I liked many of the activities such as, the catapult building and launching, the slingshot launching into the soccer field, and the rocket painting and launching.

WHAT I DIDN’T LIKE ABOUT INTERSESSION

I didn’t like the trebuchet building because I kind of got worn out by the catapult building, and I didn’t like folding and gluing everything on the bridge.

WHAT I THINK OF THIS INTERSESSION

Overall I thought this intersession was very fun with building all the projects and learning all these new structures.
