Interprofessional Education Spring 2019 Interprofessional Education for Inclusive Schools May 7, 4-6pm, Burk Hall 170 Presented by SF State National Student Speech-Language Hearing Association & the Department of Speech, Language and Hearing Sciences What is Interprofessional Education? The American Speech- Language and Hearing Association (ASHA) defines Interprofessional Education (IPE) as “an activity that occurs when two or more professions learn about, from, and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve outcomes for individuals and families whom we serve.” Who Can Participate? Undergraduate and Graduate students enrolled in any Graduate College of Education programs are invited to participate. Registration is limited to the first 30 respondents. What is the Agenda? The agenda includes an introduction to IPE and relevance to inclusive practices in schools, particularly Multiple Tiers of Systems of Support (MTSS). Students will then discuss a case-study to include all perspectives. Faculty will assist in discussions and plans for the school-wide team. • Identify barriers and explore solutions for engagement in developing treatment plans. • Articulate each discipline’s perspective to a team of learners. • Use the full scope of knowledge, skills and abilities to develop a care plan that is safe, timely, efficient, effective and equitable. • Listen actively and encourage the ideas and opinions of other disciplines. IPE Event Objectives • Engage students from all GCOE Departments in shared client-centered problem solving and service delivery. No cost to participate and Refreshments will be provided!
