Congratulations on your purchase of Avid® Interplay® | Media Asset Manager, a powerful system for archiving and managing media in a shared storage environment. This guide describes how to use Avid Interplay MAM System Administrator, an administrative tool that is part of Interplay MAM Administrator and provides the administration interface for the central configuration and service registry of Interplay MAM.

This guide is intended for all system administrators charged with maintaining Interplay Media Asset Manager, specifically those who need to configure and edit settings of all Interplay MAM backend and client components.This guide contains all the task-oriented instructions and conceptual information you need to work with System Administrator.

System Administrator OverviewInterplay MAM offers an administrative GUI — called System Administrator — that manages the settings pertaining to Interplay MAM backend and client components. In three different views, System Administrator provides the environment for configuring and editing these settings. All initial information available in System Administrator is set during the installation of Interplay MAM.

Note that “system settings” are set in Interplay MAM Control Center during system installation. Although they can be edited in Interplay MAM System Administrator, Avid recommends editing them in MAM Control Center. See “Understanding System Settings” on page 31.

The configuration information of Interplay MAM is organized as a tree. Profiles are at the top level. They include an arbitrary number of sections and subsections. These, in turn, have an arbitrary number of settings that contain keys, or Key-Value pairs.

System Administrator allows you to add, edit, and delete services and interfaces with their corresponding URLs and provides a tool for the management of user data by uploading or downloading system-relevant information.

It enables you to do the following:

• Create, edit, and delete profiles

• Create, edit, and delete the sections of a profile

Prerequisites for Using System Administrator

• Create, edit, and delete the URLs for all Interplay MAM services

• Import, export, and delete system-relevant user data

Prerequisites for Using System AdministratorTo use System Administrator, you need to be a member of an administrator group that has the following group rights:

• Administration/Platform_Administration

As an administrator you can review and assign these group rights in the Interplay MAM User Manager. For additional information, see the “Interplay | MAM User Manager User’s Guide” that is shipped with the software.

Starting System AdministratorSystem Administrator is started from within Interplay MAM Control Center.

To start System Administrator:

1. Do one of the following:

t Open an Internet browser and enter the URL https://<hostname>:9911/ControlCenter/web/

t Double-click the Interplay MAM Control Center icon on your desktop.

The Interplay MAM Control Center login dialog opens.

2. Type your user name and password, and click Login.

Interplay MAM Control Center opens.

3. Click MAM Administrator on the Links pane.

The Interplay MAM Administrator login dialog opens.

4. Type your user name and password, and click Login.

Interplay MAM Administrator opens.

5. Click the System Administrator link on the Overview page of Interplay MAM Administrator.

System Administrator ViewsOnce started, System Administrator displays the Configuration view - the default view set when MAM Administrator is installed. System Administrator includes the following three views, accessible through three corresponding tabs:

Navigation Within the View

In the Configuration view, the profile selection list, the sections pane and the settings pane function as a navigation tree: Selecting an entry in the profile list loads the information for the selected profile in the other panes of the view - for example: If you select the profile “LockManager” in the profile list, the Sections pane displays a list of sections and subsections of the profile “LockManager”. The Settings pane displays the keys and values for the “DB” section, the top entry in the Sections for Profile Lock Manager list. You can now click another section or subsection in the list to display the keys and values for the corresponding entry.

You can use the keyboard keys to navigate within the Naming Services view: Press a character on the keyboard to jump to the first Instance starting with this character.

Navigation Between Views

To navigate between the Configuration, Naming Services, and User Data views, simply click the corresponding tabs.

You can directly jump from a profile selected in the Configuration view to the corresponding instance in the Naming Services view: If you click the Go to Naming Entries button in the Configuration view, the Naming Services view opens with the corresponding instance selected.

Quitting System AdministratorWhen you are finished using System Administrator quit the application.

To quit the application:

t Click X in the System Administrator tab.

System Administrator quits, but both Interplay MAM Control Center and Interplay MAM Administrator continue to run. You can resume working in both applications or quit.

2 Working with the Configuration View

The default view visible upon starting System Administrator is the Configuration view. It supplies access to configuration settings of the Interplay MAM backend and client components.

n After changing the configuration of a component, you must refresh the component’s configuration cache to make the changes become effective. See “Refreshing the Configuration” on page 44.

3 Settings Lists sets of settings for a selected section or subsection.The figure illustrates that the Config section of the AffinityWS profile has five settings or keys: Language, MaxStoredDays, MaxStoredEntries, MinQuantitySearch, and ReturnedWords.

Correct Sequence

The Configuration view provides all the necessary information about the configuration settings of Interplay MAM backend and client components, and enables you to create the components necessary for the modeling of a new configuration. However, as you put these components together, you must keep the following sequence in mind:

1. Create a profile using the Profiles pane.

2. Add sections to the profile using the Sections pane.

3. Add settings to each section using the Settings pane.

Managing ProfilesYou can create and edit profiles at the top level of the organizational structure of the Configuration view. The initial installation of Interplay MAM includes a comprehensive set of profiles.

Note that services that can be installed more than once can have more than one configuration profile: a “shared” profile containing settings that are equal for the service and all of its instances (for example, VideoAnalysis) and a profile for each instance containing instance-specific settings (for example, VideoAnalysisService_1).

3 Copy Profile/Section/Setting Copies profiles/sections/settings.

4 Delete Profile/Section/Setting Deletes profiles/sections/settings.

5 Import Profile Imports profiles.

6 Export Profile Exports the selected profile.

7 Set Log Level for Multiple Components Changes the log level for several components at the same time. See “Changing the Log Level for Multiple Components” on page 42.

8 Go to Naming Entries Opens the Naming Services view and selects the Instance of the component whose profile is selected in the Configuration view. See “Navigation Between and Within Views” on page 14.

9 Refresh Component Configuration Refreshes the configuration of a component. See “Refreshing the Configuration” on page 44.

Creating Profiles

Whereas a number of standard profiles are created automatically when Interplay MAM is installed, it may become necessary to add new profiles to the existing stock.

To create a profile:

1. Click the New Profile button in the Profiles pane.

The New Profile dialog opens.

2. Enter a name for the new profile in the Profile field.

3. (Option) If you want to copy all sections and settings of a profile, select the profile in the Copy from list.

4. Click OK to save the new profile.

The New Profile dialog closes. The new profile is highlighted in the Select a Profile list.

- If you copied sections and settings from another profile, the Sections pane displays the list of sections and subsections you have copied. The Settings pane displays the keys and values for the top entry in the list of sections.

- If you did not copy sections and subsections from another profile, the Sections pane and the Settings pane stay empty.

Renaming Profiles

You can rename a profile on the Profiles pane.

To rename a profile:

1. Select the profile you wish to rename from the Select a Profile list.

The sections of the selected profile are displayed in the Sections pane.

2. Click the Rename Profile button in the Profiles pane.

The Rename Profile dialog opens.

3. Overwrite the name of the profile in the Profile field.

4. Click OK to save the changes.

The Rename Profile dialog closes. The renamed profile is highlighted in the Select a Profile list.

The Sections pane displays the list of sections and subsections of the renamed profile. The Settings pane displays the keys and values for the top entry in the list of sections.

Copying Profiles

You can copy all sections and settings of an profile to another.

c Copying sections and settings into a profile overwrites all sections and settings of that profile and can result in serious system damage. There is no Undo function for the copying process.

To copy a profile:

1. Click the Copy Profile button in the Profiles pane.

The Copy Profile dialog opens.

2. Select the profile from which you wish to copy all sections and settings in the Copy From list.

3. Select the profile to which you wish to copy all sections and settings in the To list.

4. Click OK.

A security prompt opens.

5. To save the changes, click OK.

The Copy Profile dialog closes.

The Sections pane displays the list of sections and subsections of the profile into which you copied the sections and subsections. The Settings pane displays the keys and values for the top entry in the list of sections.

Exporting Profiles

You can export a profile – for example, from a test system into a production system, or to create a backup.

To export a profile:

1. Select the profile to be exported from the Select a Profile list.

2. Click the Export Profile button in the Profiles pane.

The File Download dialog opens.

3. Click Save and select the save directory for the profile.

4. Click Save.

The download of the Profile begins. The progress of the download is shown.

5. After the download has completed, click Close.

The File Download dialog closes. The Profile has been saved to the location you defined.

Importing Profiles

You can import a profile – for example from a test system into a production system, or to update a profile. The import of profiles, sections within the profiles, and settings contained in these sections follows certain update modes. See “Import Modes” on page 24.

To import a profile:

1. Click the Import Profile button in the Profiles pane.

The Import Profile dialog opens.

2. Click Browse, select the profile you wish to import, and click Open.

The Import Profile dialog displays the file path of the profile you selected.

3. Do one of the following:

t Import the profile with the Overwrite method.

t Import the profile with the Merge method.

To Import with the Overwrite method:

1. Check Overwrite.

2. Click OK.

The profile is imported into the configuration.

The Import Profile dialog closes. The Sections pane displays the list of sections and subsections of the profile you imported.

The Settings pane displays the keys and values for the top entry in the list of sections.

To Import with the Merge method:

1. Check Merge.

2. Click OK.

The profile is imported according to the specifications set for the profile and for each element it contains. These specifications, or import modes, are set in the imported elements’ XML.

Import Modes

There are four different import modes, each having a specific effect on the respective profile, section, or setting. The import mode of an imported element is set in that element’s XML.

c Changing an import mode can result in serious system damage. Avid strongly recommends that only administrators with fundamental knowledge of the system edit import specifications.

See the following tables for an overview of the import modes:

Merge

The merge mode is the default behavior of the import profile process. It is used for all elements that do not specify a different update mode.

Keep

Element Description

Profile Adds the imported profile to the configuration if the imported profile has a unique name. Adds sections to the list of sections in the target profile if the configuration already contains a profile with the same name.

Section Adds each new section contained in the imported profile to the target profile. Adds settings to the list of settings in the target section if the target profile contains a section with the same name. Settings that already exist within the target section are handled according to what is specified for them.

Setting Adds each new setting contained in the imported section to the target section. Sets a new value for the key and overwrites descriptive metadata tags of the key if the target section contains a setting with the same name and the value for the corresponding key is empty. Keeps existing descriptive metadata tags if the value of the imported key is empty.

Element Description

Profile Adds the imported profile to the configuration if the imported profile has a unique name. Leaves the original profile unchanged if the configuration already contains a profile with the same name.

Section Adds each new section contained in the imported profile to the target profile. Leaves the original section unchanged if the profile already contains a section of the same name.

Setting Adds each new setting contained in the imported section to the target section. Leaves the original setting unchanged if the section already contains a setting of the same name.

2. Click the Delete button in the Profiles pane.

n Sections are created in or added to profiles - you cannot create a section before the profile of which it is to be a part has been created or selected. Therefore, you must create or select a profile before you can create a section. After you have created or selected a section, you can create a setting.

Creating Sections

You can create sections within a profile at any time, as described in the following procedure.

To create a section:

1. From the Select a Profile list, select the profile to which you wish to add a new section.

2. Click the New Section button in the Sections pane.

The New Section dialog opens.

3. Enter a name for the new section in the Section field.

4. (Option) If you wish to copy all settings of a section of the profile you selected, select the section from the Copy from Section list.

5. Click OK to save the new section.

You can copy all settings contained in a section into another section within the same profile.

c Copying a section overwrites all settings of that section and can result in serious system damage. There is no Undo function for the Copy process.

To copy a section:

1. From the Select a Profile list, select the profile containing the section you wish to copy.

2. Click the Copy Section button in the Sections pane.

The Copy Section dialog opens.

3. Select the section from which you wish to copy all settings in the Copy From list.

4. Select the section to which you wish to copy all settings in the To list.

5. Click OK.

The Copy Section dialog closes.

In the Sections pane, the section into which you copied the settings is highlighted. The Settings pane displays the settings of the highlighted section.

Deleting Sections

You can delete sections that are no longer required.

Managing SettingsSections are composed of settings that include an arbitrary number of Key-Value pairs. The Settings pane of the Configuration view provides the necessary control elements to manage settings. n Settings are created in or added to sections - you cannot create a setting before the section of which it is to be a part has been created or selected. Therefore, you must first create or select a profile and then create or select a section in that profile before you can create a setting.

Understanding System Settings

In the Configuration view you can see and edit the settings of the selected profile. Configuration settings may have a value that is a reference to a “system setting.” System settings are set in MAM Control Center and are used to configure overall functions. Changes made to system setting values in MAM Control Center are inherited by the settings in System Administrator. References to a system setting are indicated by bold font in the Configuration view’s Settings for section list.

In the following illustration you can see that the value of the key OutputPath (“\\kl-pm-mam51\MediaAssetManager\Workspace\PrintService\Output”) is shown in bold font. In fact, the value is referencing the system setting “Mam.Core.PrintService.OutputPath” set in MAM Control Center.

Configuration settings that reference a system setting provide information through two values in the Configuration view:

• “Resolved” value: This is the value of the system setting set in MAM Control Center. It is shown in bold font in the Settings for section table and in the Edit Settings dialog box in the Resolved field.

• “Raw” value: This is the name of the referenced system setting in MAM Control Center. It is shown in the form {system:system setting name}:

- In a pop-up window when you hover the mouse pointer over a bold value in the Settings for Section list.

- In the Edit Settings dialog box in the Default and Value fields.

- When you are quick-editing a value in the Settings for Section list (currently only supported for settings of type “string”).

You can edit the value in the Edit Settings dialog and by using the Quick-edit feature. See “Editing Settings” on page 39.

n Editing the value of a referenced system setting that is not of type “string” in the Configuration view breaks the association with the system setting in MAM Control Center. Changes in MAM Control Center will no longer affect the setting in System Administrator. You can keep the coupling only for keys of type “string” — if you do not violate the raw value’s {system:system setting name} structure.

Layout of the Settings Dialog

To open the Edit Setting dialog:

t Double-click the setting you wish to edit in the Key column or the Type column.

1, 2, 3 Names of the selected profile, section or subsection, and key.

5 Range of values for some data types. The layout of Range varies with the selected data type. If the range given is 0-, the value of the range can be from zero to infinity.

6 Default value of a key. The layout of Default varies with the selected data type. If the key references a system setting of type string or integer, the raw value is shown.

n In most cases, after Interplay MAM is installed, the initial value of a key is the same as the default value.

Data Types for Keys

The following table shows the data types that can be assigned to keys:

7 Value that is set for a key. The layout of Value varies with the selected data type. If the key references a system setting of type string or integer, the raw value is shown.

8 Is only relevant for a key that references a system setting of type string or integer; shows the resolved value.

9 Text that is shown as a tool tip when hovering over the name of a key in the Settings list.

10 Only editable in Edit Setting dialog. Provides details about the key.

Boolean Boolean values can be assigned to enable or disable the functions of keys:

• true, 1, or yes enable the function.

Integer Numeric values can be assigned to keys.

Integer range Numeric values from a defined range can be assigned to keys. The range zero to infinity is represented by 0- in the Range text box.

List Values for keys of the data type List are made up of several parameters. All instances are listed as values and can be set as parameters one by one for the corresponding workflow steps. If several parameters are set, they must be without blanks and separated by commas, as in: NoTemplate,SimplifiedTemplate,FullTemplate.

List range For keys of the data type List Range, check boxes can be used to set the values.

String Keys of the data type String can be assigned any value. If values have to comply with specified restrictions, these restrictions should be listed in the Description text box.

Password For keys of the data type Password, any value can be used. Values are hidden when they are entered in the corresponding text boxes, and they are encrypted when saved. The System Administrator can always overwrite a saved value.

Creating Settings

You can create new settings in the Settings pane.

To create a setting:

1. From the Select a Profile list in the Profiles pane, select the profile of the section to which you wish to add a new setting.

2. From the Section to Profile list in the Sections pane, select the section to which you wish to add a new setting.

3. Click the New Setting button in the Settings pane.

The New Setting dialog opens.

4. Enter a name for the new key in the Key field.

5. Define the type of the new setting in the Type list.

6. Enter specific Data. Depending on the data type you selected, some data is mandatory and some optional, as shown in the following table.

n While entering a value is not mandatory at this stage, Avid recommends that you enter a value before closing the New Setting dialog.

7. (Option) If you want to create a reference to a system setting, go to MAM Control Center, retrieve the name of the system setting, and enter it in the Value field in the form {system:system setting name}.

8. Click OK to save the new setting.

The Rename Setting dialog opens.

5. Overwrite the name of the setting in the Setting field.

6. Click OK to save the changes.

4. Select the setting you wish to copy in the Copy From field.

5. Proceed with one of the following:

t Overwrite a setting with the contents of the setting you selected in the Copy from list.

t Create a new setting with the contents of the setting you selected in the Copy from list.

To overwrite a setting:

1. Select the Overwrite Setting check box.

The New Setting Name field is disabled.

2. Select the setting you wish to overwrite in the Overwrite Setting list.

3. Click OK.

The Copy Setting dialog closes.

The setting you selected is overwritten.

1. Deselect the Overwrite Setting check box.

The Overwrite Setting list is disabled.

2. Enter a name in the New Setting Name field.

Editing Settings

All of the data contained in a setting can be edited in the Edit Setting dialog.

To edit a setting:

1. From the Select a Profile list in the Profiles pane, select the profile of the section that contains the setting you wish to edit.

2. From the Sections for Profile list, select the section that contains the setting you wish to edit.

3. Do one of the following:

t In the Key column or Type column, double-click the setting you wish to edit.

t Select the setting and click the Edit Setting button.

The Edit Setting dialog opens.

4. Change the value.

n If you change the value of a key that references a system setting, you remove the association with the system setting. For settings of type string and integer you can restore the association by copying the {system:system setting name} entry from the Default field and pasting it into the Value field.

5. To enable additional editing options, do one or both of the following:

t Click the Edit Details button to enable the Type, Range, Default, and Summary fields.

t Click the Edit Description button to enable the Description field.

6. Click OK to save the changes.

In the Settings for Section list, the setting you have just edited is highlighted.

Quick-Editing the Value

Apart from opening the Edit Setting dialog, there is another, quicker way to edit the value of a setting:

1. In the Settings for Section list, double-click the value column of the key you wish to edit.

The value field in the list is enabled.

2. Edit the value.

3. Press the Return key.

Deleting Settings

You can delete a setting that is no longer required.

c You cannot restore a deleted setting. There is no Undo function for the delete process. Deleting a setting that was part of the initial installation of Interplay MAM can result in serious system damage.

To delete a setting:

1. From the Select a Profile list in the Profiles pane, select the profile of the section that contains the setting you wish to delete.

2. From the Sections for Profile list, select the section that contains the setting you wish to copy.

3. Select the setting you wish to delete from the list of settings.

4. Click the Delete button in the Settings pane.

A security prompt opens.

An Information prompt opens.

The Information prompt closes. The first entry in the list of settings is highlighted.

Changing the Log Level for Multiple ComponentsAfter system setup the log level of all components is determined by system setting “Mam.Core.Log.Level”. A reference to this global system setting is entered as the value of each component’s log level key. If the “Mam.Core.Log.Level” is changed, the log level of all components changes automatically.

You can disassociate the log level of individual components from the “Mam.Core.Log.Level” and define a component-specific log level.

• To change the log level for an individual component, go to the Logging/File section in the component’s profile and change the value of the key Level.

• To change the log level of several components at the same time, use the Set Log Level for Multiple Components feature as described in the following procedure.

Prerequisite: You must define the components in the file LoggingComponents_Bulk.txt in the ConfigurationsServiceWS directory.

To define components for log level change:

1. Go to the directory of Configuration Service WS Admin. C:/Program Files /Avid/MediaAssetManager/System_Site/ConfigurationServiceWSAdmin

2. Open the file LoggingComponents_Bulk.txt in a text editor.

3. Enter the components whose log file settings are to be changed.

4. Close and save the file.

To change the log level:

1. Click the Set Log Level for Multiple Components button in System Administrator’s Profiles pane.

The Set Log Level dialog opens. It shows all components that are listed in the file LoggingComponents_Bulk.txt.

2. Select the new log level from the Common Log Level list.

n If the service DataManagerWS is listed and you select TRACE as the new log level, the DataManagerWS log settings LogQueries, LogSqlExpanded, and LogSqlBulkCopyDetails are enabled. This can reduce system performance.

3. Click OK.

The Set Log Level dialog closes. The new log level is applied to all components that have been listed in the dialog.

Refreshing the ConfigurationBefore changes made to the configuration become effective most components must refresh their configuration cache. You can enforce this by either restarting the component or invoking a refresh configuration call. Prior to Interplay MAM v5, this required several steps, including opening the Admin Interface of the component and invoking the RefreshConfig method. Starting with Interplay MAM v5, refreshing the configuration can be triggered with a single click.

To refresh the configuration:

t Click the Refresh Component Configuration button in the Profiles pane.

The RefreshConfig method is invoked in the background. After the configuration cache of the component is refreshed a message is displayed.

3 Working with the Naming Services View

The Naming Services view is an Interplay MAM internal support page. In the Naming Services view, you can add new or edit existing services and interfaces with corresponding URLs. It allows you to make fundamental adjustments in the Interplay MAM system.

c Avid strongly recommends that only administrators with fundamental knowledge of the system add or edit naming services. Removing or editing a service or changing a URL that was part of the initial installation of Interplay MAM can result in serious system damage.

Accessing Information about Specific ServicesOnline API documentation provides in-depth information about the interfaces, the methods available for each interface, and the description of how each method is invoked. Follow these steps to launch the Web service:

1. Click the URL of the corresponding Instance/Interface.

The online documentation opens in a new Window.

List header Description

Instance Name of the service.

Interface Name of the service’s interface.

URL URL of the service’s interface or, if the Interface field is empty, base path of the service. Clicking the URL opens the corresponding Web service in a separate window.

- A short description of the operation.

- A form to test the operation (where applicable – the test form is only available for methods with primitive types as parameters).

- SOAP 1.1, SOAP 1.2, HTTP GET, and HTTP POST request and response samples (depending on the system configuration, not all samples may be available).

Creating Naming Service EntriesIn the Naming Services view, you can create a new service or interface as described in the following procedure:

To add a new service:

1. Click the Add New Entry button.

The New Naming Service dialog opens.

2. Enter the name of the new service and the service’s interface in the Instance/Interface field.

The name must include the name of the service and the name of the interface, separated by a slash. For example, the entry for the Instance “LockManager” and the Interface “Admin” is LockManager/Admin.

3. Enter the URL of the service’s interface in the URL field.

4. Click OK.

The new service is added to the Naming Services list and is highlighted.

Editing Naming Service EntriesYou can edit an entry listed in the Naming Services view.

To edit a service:

1. Do one of the following:

t In the Instance or Interface column, select the entry you wish to edit and click the Edit Entry button.

t Click OK if you wish to save the changes in the setting.

The dialog closes and the corresponding entry in the Naming Services list displays the changes you made.

Exporting and Importing Naming Service EntriesSystem Administrator offers an export/import Naming Service entries feature for maintenance reasons – for example, you can export the Naming Service entries, edit them in the export file (such as to fix a broken URL), and then import the Naming Service entries back into the system.

To export Naming Service entries:

1. Click the Export Naming Entries button.

A new Browser tab containing all Naming Service entries opens.

2. Select File > Save As, select the save directory for the namingmac.txt file in the Save Webpage dialog that opens, and click Save.

The Save Webpage dialog closes. The Naming Entries file has been saved to the location you defined.

To import Naming Service entries:

1. Click the Import Naming Entries button.

The Upload Naming entries file dialog opens.

The name and location of the file you wish to import are displayed in the Select Encrypted Naming-file field.

The current Naming Service entries are written to a backup file in a configurable directory (profile ConfigurationServiceWSAdmin > section Config > setting NamingEntriesBackupDirectory) and replaced by the imported Naming Service Entries without additional notice.

4 Working with the User Data View

The User Data view is an Interplay MAM internal support interface. It allows you to manage user data in the Interplay MAM system. In the User Data view, you can import and export system relevant data that is organized in folders that contain files. The initial installation of Interplay MAM includes a standard set of files necessary to run Interplay MAM.

c Avid strongly recommends that only administrators with fundamental knowledge of the system use the User Data view. Removing data that was listed in the initial installation of Interplay MAM Administrator may result serious system damage.

Layout of the User Data View

Layout of the User Data ViewThe User Data view includes three panes that serve two different functions. The following illustration and table describe the layout of the User Data view.

Creating FoldersBecause there cannot be an empty folder in the User Data view, the process of creating a folder is part of the File Import process.

Pane Function

1 Folders Lists all folders in the User Data view. For additional information, see “Creating Folders” on page 56 and “Deleting Folders” on page 57.

2 Files Lists all Files contained in the selected folder. For additional information, see “Importing Files” on page 59, “Exporting Files” on page 58, and “Deleting Files” on page 60.

3 Edit Provides controls for importing, exporting, and deleting User Data.

To create a new folder:

1. Click Browse in the Edit pane.

The Choose File to Upload dialog opens.

2. Select the file you wish to import and click Open.

The Choose File to Upload dialog closes. The name and location of the file you selected are displayed in the Import of User Data field at the bottom of the Edit pane.

3. Enter the name of the folder you wish to create in the UserData Name field and append a name for the new folder with a slash.

4. Click Import.

A security prompt opens.

5. Click OK.

The security prompt closes.

The new folder is displayed in the Folders list.

6. (Option) Select the new folder to view its contents in the Files pane.

Deleting FoldersThere is no single command or button to delete a folder. If you want to delete a folder, you need to delete all its contents.

Exporting Files

To delete a folder:

1. Select the folder you wish to delete in the Folders list.

2. One after another, delete all files in the folder. For additional information, see “Deleting Files” on page 60.

Empty folders do not exist in User Data view – a folder is deleted as soon as it is empty. When you remove the last file from a folder, the folder is removed as well.

Exporting FilesYou can export any file contained in a User Data folder — for example, to configure its content and then re-import it.

To export a file:

1. In the Folders pane, select the folder that contains the file you wish to export.

The Files pane displays the files contained in the selected folder.

2. Select the file you wish to export in the Files pane.

3. Click Export in the Edit pane.

The File Download dialog opens.

4. Click Save.

The Save As dialog opens.

5. Select the save directory for the file.

6. Click Save.

The Save As dialog closes.

The download of the file starts. During the download process, the progress is displayed in the File Download dialog.

When the download is complete, the Download Complete dialog opens.

7. Click Close.

The file is saved to the location you defined.

Importing FilesYou can import a file into a folder that is listed in the Folders pane.

To import a file into a folder:

1. In the Folders pane, select the folder to which you wish to add a file.

2. Click Browse in the Edit pane.

The Choose File to Upload dialog opens.

3. Select the file you wish to import and click Open.

The Choose File to Upload dialog closes.

The Name and location of the file you wish to import are displayed in the Import of User Data field.

The imported file is displayed in the Files pane as content of the folder you selected.
