Interpersonal RelationshipAn interpersonal relationship is a strong, deep, or close

association or acquaintance between two or more people that may range in duration from brief to enduring. • This association may be based on:

• inference, • love, • solidarity, • regular business interactions, • some other type of social commitment.

• Interpersonal relationships are formed in the context of social, cultural and other influences.

• The context can vary from family or kinship relations, friendship, marriage, relations with associates, work, clubs, neighborhoods, and places of worship.

• They may be regulated by law, custom, or mutual agreement, and are the basis of social groups and society as a whole.

StagesInterpersonal relationships are dynamic systems that change continuously during their existence. • One of the most influential models of

relationship development was proposed by psychologist George Levinger.

• According to the model, the natural development of a relationship follows five stages:

• Acquaintance and acquaintanceship

• Buildup • Continuation • Deterioration• Termination

A list of interpersonal skills includes:• Verbal communication • Nonverbal communication • Listening skills • Negotiation • Problem solving • Decision making • Assertiveness

Trust (sociology)Trust – willing of one party (trustor) to rely on the actions of

another party (trustee); the situation is directed to the future.• the trustor abandons control over the actions

performed by the trustee. • As a consequence, the trustor is uncertain about the

outcome of the other's actions. • The uncertainty involves the risk of failure or harm to

the trustor if the trustee will not behave as desired. Vladimir Ilych Lenine expresses this idea with the sentence “Trust is good, control is better”. • Trust can be attributed to relationships between people. • Trust is also attributable to relationships within and

between social groups (history, families, friends, communities, organisations, companies, nations, etc.). It is a popular approach to frame the dynamics of inter-group and intra-group interactions in terms of trust.

• In sociology and psychology the degree to which one party trusts another is a measure of belief in the honesty, fairness, or benevolence of another party.

Trust in Russia• Surveys shows that Russian people in most

of the cases don’t trust to people around.• Most people say that if something bad

happens a majority around probably will not help.

• Russians are accustomed to trust to a narrow circle of friends and relatives.

• The level of trust in society is very low. • 48000 respondents were surveyed from

2004-2012. Table shows that interpersonal relationship (from the scale 0 to 10) in Russia equals to 4.2

• This leads to rudeness, crudeness and weak rate of economic growth.

• Sociologists say it would be difficult to get rid of this. Usually people begin to trust each other in prosperous or developed countries. But in Russia crisis is raging.
