Company profile
Daegu Machinery Institute of Components & Materials is one the most significant R&D companies in Daegu. The company was established in Aug. 2001 and it is promoting various business supporting projects for high-value added production of local companies, especially with Machinery Parts Material Test & Evaluation Center. This department supports high-precision
tests and evaluations for the reconsideration of reconsideration and quality improvement of local machinery parts and metal industry. The other department, Mechatronics Parts Industrialization Center, supports high value added production combining traditional machinery and metal products with electronic and information technology.

Promotion strategy
First days in the company
My workplace: I was the first foreign student to
take internship in the company. Although at first
it looked a little bit scary, I quickly got more self-
confident and start to do my tasks effectively. It
turns out that all my co-workers were very
helpful and happy to meet me.
“Hokuyo” photo sensor. It measures the distances from the sensor to the nearest obstruction in every direction at the horizontal plane around the sensor.
Mr. Park, my closest co-worker,
introduced me to the company and
was always available to help me with
my work.
With this device I was able to
develop my programming skills and
get familiar with new software.
Developping my professional skills
Experimenting with new software
for 3D modeling - CATIA V5.
My first project was to design my home
faculty logo (Faculty of Electrical Engineering;
Warsaw University of Technology) and the
logo of the company.
Developing my professional skills
As I got more familiar with
the software I started to
develop more sophisticated
designs.
This time my task was
to design a 3D model
of the company’s
building.
Final design
My work strategy
Part of my strategy to improve my own
work was to take pictures around the
company campus to compare with
company building plans – essentially
comparing theory with practice…
As way of checking the
accuracy of my work I
compared my designs
with actual pictures of
the company.
Operating the RP system
Rapid prototyping system – it a device used for
automatic construction of physical objects. In other
words the staff can create a real object from 3D
designs.
In the first place you should make sure your
project is complete and as suitable for the
device as possible.
Initial setting up of
the system.
How does it work?
The operating process is based on stereolithography. It’s an
additive manufacturing process using an UV laser to build parts
a layer at a time. In each layer certain areas are being hardened
- according to information from the 3D design.
RP result
Final results compared
with the designs.
After several steps of getting parts
out of the powder and cleaning
them you can see the final result.
Company life
Having lunch with my team
members.
While doing my internship I was
enabled to help my team with
preparations for the conferences.
Last day of my internship
10th June – my last day.
After 12 weeks it’s time to say goodbye...
Me with my team
in the front of the
company.
