Internship Guidelines

1. PURPOSE These guidelines are meant to manage internship process across the Company. As internships are a course requirement for students therefore all interns will be provided useful assignments during the internship period to help them learn in a professional work environment. If treated professionally it will be easy to attract them for the Management Trainee / Trainee Engineer scheme in future. Additionally they will also be useful ambassadors for Lotte-PPTA. In order to ensure that students are provided quality internship opportunity the number of interns will be limited to the extent to which the functions can cope with. Those provided internship opportunity through references adversely affects the reputation of the Company of being merit oriented. Therefore such internships will be discouraged but may be unavoidable in certain circumstances. In order to overcome the pressure from the customers, suppliers, Govt. officials, etc. to provide internships to students who do not qualify through the normal process. Recognizing the fact that it is important to maintain healthy working relationships with the customers, government agencies etc these guidelines will take that into account. However the number of students offered internships through referrals will be restricted as specified in these guidelines. The duration of internship would be four / six weeks and can be extended for further two weeks if given projects / assignments are not completed. In order to ensure that quality internship opportunity is provided to students selected on merit directly from the universities is not adversely effected by the interns selected on the basis of referrals a clear distinction between the two is being made:

1. PURPOSE

These guidelines are meant to manage internship process across the Company.

Interns (on merit): will be nominees from the educational institutions (LUMS, IBA, GIKI, NED, DCET, MEUT, UET and PU). These students will be given projects and managed properly through mentors so that they go back as our ambassadors and could be tapped for possible future recruitment.

All Interns on merit will be solicited through the respective universities directly by HRD and the candidates will be selected on the basis of following criteria:

a) Commercial and Other Interns: GPA 3+b) Technical Interns: GPA 3+ or 70%

The shortlisted candidates may be interviewed by HR and respective Function.

Interns (referrals): Will be selected on the basis of referrals from the customers, suppliers, Govt. officials etc. for providing internship to young graduates, who in most cases are either from one of the institutions listed above, or are visiting Pakistan during their summer vacations and are studying abroad. These people need to be accommodated in most cases. Efforts will be made that these interns also get the same treatment as Interns (on merit) as far as possible given the business constraints.

2.3. HR will communicate the list of selected candidates with dates of internship to respective Functions and issue internship letters.

2.4. HR will organize, induction plans (including HS&E), logistics like transport, meals, PPEs etc. before the joining of the interns. Office space will be organized by respective Functions.

2.5. The supervisor should play a mentor role for his/her Interns. He will give him/her specific assignment and inform HR of the assignment. On completion of the internship period all Interns will submit the project report to the supervisor for his and HOD’s approval. The approved project report will be sent to HRD.

The supervisor needs to fill the internship assessment form and discuss with the intern after getting required approvals. This form should be sent to HRD. The internship certificate shall be issued to intern as soon as HRD will receive the approved internship assessment form.

2.6. In case of any absence from work the intern supervisor must inform to HRD about intern absence period. If absence is more than two working days than HRD will inform to the Salaries Section for appropriate deductions. 2.7. In case of requests for internships through referrals the HR will obtain approval from the respective Function Head and Chief Executive to process the internship. HR will try to follow the same process for interns as done in the case of Interns (on merit) subject to resource availability. These will be called Interns (referrals) and will be subject to numbers given in these guidelines.

2.8. During remaining part of the year any internship requests will be at the discretion of the Functions.

2.9. Interns stipend is Rs.1,875/- per week, which will be charged to the concerned department.
