Whistle is a startup developing personal safety jewellery line for women and senior citizen. We

are one of the first Internet of Wearable Things Company in India started by IIT, NIT alumni who

have worked at companies like Intel, Lehman Brothers.

We are happy to announce that would like to offer the students of NIT Rourkela a rare

opportunity to intern at our firm to gain valuable and unique experience.

Work Profile:

As part of the internship, the intern will be working on making a wearable which will be used to

signal for help in dire situations. We iterate very rapidly with our product life cycle development

and have already completed our prototype. We need to improve on the efficiency of the product

and package the product for mass market delivery.

We are looking for one intern each for the below mentioned two profiles.

Job Description for first profile:

This will involve working and re-working on the PCB that we have already designed to get it to

more efficiently conserve as much space as possible while at the same time adhering to

specifications as determined by jewellery designers.

The intern will also be involved in firmware development to improve on the code efficiency so

that we can reduce power consumption. We will expect our interns to be comfortable with C or

C++ development and a familiarity with tools such as Vim (along with all of its major plugins)

and gdb is a huge plus.

If time allows, we will start the prototype development of version 2 of the whistle device. That

will automatically detect a case of emergency and call for help without an input from the user. It

will involve designing a product that has multiple sensors(sweat rate monitor, heart rate monitor

etc.) but at the same time tiny enough that the user can wear it with ease and reliable enough

that it works each and every time.

Tools and technologies :

C or C++;(Required Skill)

PCB and circuit designing and strong familiarity with PCB design tools like Eagle or

Altium or ORCAD and circuit simulators such as LTSpice or HSPICE or any

other;(Required Skill)

Knowledge of VIM and GDB is a huge plus.(Plus)

The intern must have a good CGPA

Compensation: 17-23K base + upto 6-7K performance based bonus

Job Description for second profile:

Mobile app development - Android and iOS. Stitching the whole hardware aspect of things

together, the intern will also be given a flavour of mobile app development where he will be able

to see his final product in the market influencing people and actually make a change in their

lives.

Product Beta Testing - The intern will be involved in beta testing the App and the Hardware,

seeing first hand how different user segments are using the product. Identify in the

shortcomings and additional features that can be added. Thus enabling us to release a polished

product in the market.

Writing Open Source Code - The Intern should be interested in writing open source code. We

will be writing a library to help developers integrate their Mobile Apps more easily and

significantly faster with BLE hardware.

Tools and technologies :

C or C++ . The library that we are writing will require the intern to be very comfortable

with STLs and pointers and at the same time must know a fair bit of embedded

programming.(Required Skill)

Java and Objective C- essential for the mobile app development. Knowledge of Swift is a

huge plus.(Plus)

Knowledge of Vim and GDB and CLI and AWS is a huge plus.(Plus)

The intern must have a good CGPA

Compensation: 17-23K base + upto 6-7K performance based bonus

Mentoring of Interns:

For the electrical engineering part of the internship, the intern will be working under the

guidance of Aaron Shepherd who has more than 9 years of experience working as an electrical

engineer at some of the largest MNCs and million dollar funded startups.

For the Mobile App Development intern role, Nilang Parikh will be guiding the intern, he has

worked at Intel in New York for 8 years.
