A software program that is used to find electronic documents on the Internet.
It acts like a reboot. Meaning that it finds information according to how a user enters a specific term or keyword.

For example;When a user searches for yahoo mail, the
results that are going to be presented will contain information about yahoo mail and the search engine will present every document on the Internet that contains the words yahoo mail.

A user specifies what he or she is searching for.
Specifies the kind of results e.g. having documents- .doc, PDF files or any other file that a user wants to get.
Furthermore, a user can even specifies the language.

Search with a phrase
Putting words in a specific order e.g. when searching for information about a certain topic such as teaching methodology, you need to type “teaching methodology”.
When quotation marks are used, a search engine limits the search results by finding information that is only related to the term or phrase entered.

The number of websites that are to be given out as results will be given after using a the marks will be different from the ones gotten after searching without using any quotation marks.

Searching for a domain name
It involves typing a word followed by the word “site” then colon in the search window and then the web address. For instance, typing contact site: www.munaligirls.sch.zm
This helps when you are not too sure of the location where the information you are looking for is on the website.

Specification
For example, when searching for examples of formal letters. It is best to specify the kind of formal you are looking for. Such as sample letter for nominated job applicants.

A hyperlink is a sentence, word, reference or navigating tool or element in an electronic document that leads to another document or part of the document in the same website or a different website.
Text which contain hyperlinks is called hypertext.

HyperlinksHyperlinks
Hyperlinks behave in such a way that a cursor turns into a pointing hand once positioned on a hyperlink and are often highlighted or in a different color.
They can also be sent to someone as a reference.
