DEAKIN COLLEGE LOCATIONSDeakin College has four campus locations. In Australia we are located on three Deakin University campuses in the state of Victoria. One is in metropolitan Melbourne and the other two are in Geelong. The fourth campus is offshore in Jakarta, Indonesia.

ORIENTATION AND ENROLMENT PROGRAM

Deakin College holds an orientation program the week before each trimester. Orientation is an important event that sets you up for success from the very start. Don’t miss it as you will receive valuable course information, create your timetable, set up your computer access and obtain your student ID card. Student Mentors will share tips and advice on how to adjust to your new environment and about keeping safe. It is also a great opportunity to make new friends and meet your lecturers.

PERSONAL AND ACADEMIC SUPPORT

You will have access to a large support network. These services are provided to help you in study and life. We encourage you to use these as you need them.

• Confidential counselling service for discussing any personal or welfare matters.

• Academic Skills Advisors provide additional study skill support such as referencing, essay structure and time management.

• A variety of study support workshops to help with writing skills, assignment preparation and exam tips.

• Careers counsellors available to discuss issues such as career planning, decision making, further study options and job opportunities.

• Health Services Unit for general medical care, health promotion and stress management.

DEVELOP YOUR LEADERSHIP SKILLS

When you study at Deakin College you have the opportunity to develop professional and personal skills through a number of student programs. Join the Student Committee (SC) and be the voice of the students, or become a Student Mentor and get involved with Deakin College events. Our Peer Assisted Learning Mentor (PALM) program provides our high achieving students with an opportunity to lead and help other students.

CAMPUS FACILITIES

Deakin College students on the Australian campuses have access to all Deakin University facilities. Campuses offer excellent library and study spaces, bookshops, 24-hour computer labs, campus shops, sport and recreational facilities. JAKARTA CAMPUS

The most common student accommodation type in Indonesia is renting a room in a house – called a “kost”. A kost house is usually fully equipped with a communal kitchen and living room. The Jakarta Campus can provide assistance with this type of accommodation.

BURSARIES AND SCHOLARSHIPS

High achieving students are awarded scholarships based on academic merit while studying at Deakin College. Bursaries are also available where two or more students from the same family study with a Navitas member institution.

ENGLISH PREPARATION

As English is the language of instruction at Deakin College, students need to meet English requirements before commencing their studies. If required, you may be offered the Mixed Program. This program combines Academic English Studies with academic units in your first trimester. Students studying at the Australian

campuses may choose to enrol at the Deakin University English Language Institute (DUELI) to improve their English skills.

EXEMPTIONS

Students may apply for exemptions based on any previous equivalent study at another educational institute.

STUDENT VISAS

International students are required to hold a valid student visa during their course of study. Student visas are issued based on meeting requirements and generally have certain conditions attached to them.

AIRPORT RECEPTION

International students can request for a pick-up service to be taken from the airport to your accommodation by a Deakin College representative.
