Background Grading
Grading of criminal searches
is conducted for eight levels,
scaling up from “00” = clear
record, “01” & “02” misde-
meanors, “03” through “06”
= felonies, and “07” = Patri-
ot Act Search hit. Once all
county level jurisdictional
searches are completed, a
final package grade will be
associated with the appli-
cant’s record.
Please contact Victoria Baker
at (409)527-3389, for any
additional information.

Christmas Decoration Safety Tips Christmas should be a fun celebration for family and friends, so you don’t want to derail the festivities with accidents that could easily have been avoided. When styling your home in time for December 25th, remember to pay just as much attention to how safety it is as you do to how it looks.
Christmas Lights
Buy tried-and-tested Christmas lights
bearing the Department of Trade and Industry’s Import Commodity Clearance (ICC) sticker.
If reusing old Christmas lights, make
sure there are non frayed or exposed wires.
Avoid leaving Christmas lights on all
night.
Ornaments/decorations
Use only non-combustible ornaments,
especially hanging them close to Christmas lights.
Don’t set lighted candles down on
places close to combustible materials or where they can get knocked down.
Christmas Tree
Check to see if the Christmas tree you
want to buy is fireproof to avoid accidental fires.
Keep the tree away from doorways and
other high-traffic areas in your home.
If the tree has a platform, keep it stable
so it won’t tip over easily.
Holiday Safety Tips for Children
Find the Perfect Toy for the Right Age
Consider the child’s age when purchasing a toy or game this holiday season.
Read instructions and warning labels to make sure the gift is just right.
Before you’ve settled on the perfect toy, check to make sure there are no small
parts or other potential choking hazards
Keep Button Batteries Away for Young Kids
Keep a special eye on small pieces, especially button batteries that may be
included in toys. They can pose a potential danger for younger, curious children.
Don’t Forget a Helmet for New Bikes or Other Toys
Be sure to include a helmet with their new bike, skateboard, or scooter , to keep
them safe while they are having fun.

Never allow children to play with or ignite fireworks.
Never try to re-light or pick up fireworks that have not ignited fully.
Keep a bucket of water or a garden hose handy in case of fire or other mishaps.
Make sure fireworks are legal in your area before buying or using them.
Light fireworks one at a time, then move back quickly.

In Loving Memory
Jimmie Martinez
June 1, 1962—November 7, 2016
It is with a very heavy heart to announce that our co-worker
and friend passed away November 7, 2016. Jimmie started
working for ISTC in 2006 as a multimedia developer
authoring safety training programs for ten years. Jimmie
was such a sweet, kind-hearted man that we all loved and he
will be missed dearly.
